It's THEORY TIME!

I heard a theory on YouTube shorts (because my friend's cat woke me up) that Vox was Niffty's abusive ex-husband. My friend @dynogadget and I talked about it and here's what we have.

Let's look at the evidence they present:

They both died in the 1950's.

She might've endured abuse from him, causing her psychotic behavior.

Her reaction to cameras could be because of that abuse.

Her obsessive level of cleaning was a way to cope/earn praise from her abuser.

She could've had a psychotic break and killed him on live television before being institutionalized.

Alastor might have even made a deal with her just to spite Vox.

Let's look at some time period and psychology facts that could back this up:

One in four women in the United States is a victim of severe physical violence by a partner in their lifetime. In the 50's that number was most likely much higher since the law was less strict about those things.

Some victims of abuse are likely to stay either with their abuser or people who remind them of their abuser.

Victims of abuse also tend to use whatever they can to cope.

Some facts (from the show and in real life) that poke holes in the theory:

The average age gap in marriages in the 1940's (presumably when they were married) was between 2 and 4 years.

The also average married age of men was 24 and women was 21. So that means Vox is much younger than we think, or Niffty is much older than we think.

Niffty doesn't seem to know Vox or the Vees at all. Though, this could be because Vox goes by a different name in Hell.

So here are my thoughts on the matter.

I love the abused housewife theory for Niffty so much, but I don't think that Vox is her abuser. The consensus I've seen on here is that Vox died in his 50's and Niffty died in her 30's.

I think her reaction to the camera could've just been stage fright, because when she doesn't know she's being filmed she acts normally.

Also, I think she sticks with Alastor because he's a monster, but not the kind of monster her ex-husband was. I feel like if Alastor would give her a way out, she would stay with him anyway.

Due to Alastor's gentlemanly nature, likely brought on by his mother (also most likely by an abusive father, but that's another theory), I think Niffty would stay with him for those reasons. Alastor gives her comfort and praise even if she is a little unstable.

Anyway, that's my thoughts.
