How I Make Notecards! :)
After my post about notecards and midterms, a lot of you guys sent me messages about how I make them, what kind of cards or rings I use, etc. Soooo, without further ado…

I’ll be using my Chemistry notecards as an example since they’re probably the most well done AND they’re even color coded!
STEP 1: Gather materials (that sounds really science-class-procedure-y)

I personally use unruled index cards from Target (they’re like $0.49 per pack and really good quality) and two different writing utensils…usually some sort of marker and then my trusty Pilot G2. I like for my notecards to be on a ring (good for storage but I take them off when I’m quizzing myself), so I’ll need one of those and a hole punch (mine’s Swingline and I LOVE it).
STEP 2: I make a list of what I need on my notecards and then start labeling the front side of the index cards. My Chemistry notecards are just material from my 1st semester, so I make them as I go along, but you can make them all at once too! (wouldn’t really recommend it, it ends up being really time consuming)

STEP 3: Once I’m done labeling the front side with concepts such as Molarity, questions like “What is an aqueous solution?,” diagrams like Solids VS Liquids VS Gases on a molecular basis, etc., I go back to actually write out the content on the back of the cards. I define words, copy practice problems, draw diagrams, and the like.

STEP 4: When all the notecards are done, I break out a pack of colored notecards to act as divider pages. I have a color-coding guide:

STEP 5: Since my notecards are for the entire 1st semester, I take some plain white notecards to use as dividers for different chapters. For this, I cut up a small sheet of paper or an index card, fold it in half, and tape it to the right edge of the card, so that it acts as a tab.

STEP 6: After all that is done, I punch holes in the upper left corner and put them on the ring so that the order isn’t messed up (my Chem notecards are actually numbered though, so it’s not an issue)
STEP 7: Then I make my cover! I like this part the most. I cut out a piece of scrapbook paper so it’s 3in X 5in, and I punch a hole in the upper left corner. I tape a sticky note that’s been folded in half on the center (if the paper has a subtler pattern you can just write directly on it) and I use a marker/pen to write the class and/or subject.
STEP 8: Finally, put that on the ring and then you’re done! I flip through my notecards before major tests to get a brief overview of the content before going to my notes/the textbook, or I take them off the ring to quiz myself. Study them however you’d like :)

This was my first tutorial-y post…I hope I helped and answered your questions!

FOR ANYONE WHO HAS A PAPER DUE AT SOME POINT.
I JUST FOUND THIS WEBSITE.
Basically you go into the link and what pops up is something like this.
you can edit whatever is written in red to fit your needs, but for this example I’m just going to leave it as is.
So you click the down arrow and then you get something like this.
everything in red below what you entered is all changeable (but not by you. that is just showing that it’s relevant to the time you entered) but it gives you all these references of time, but it keeps going.
Now I know facebook isnt the social media of choice for people (I mean…. you’re on tumblr reading this) so basically swap that out with whichever one you want and there you go.
but that’s not all!
If you enter a time that’s completely impossible, it throws something like this at you.
and now, just as another example, I’m going to put in a time that’s in the past (It’s 10:10pm right now)
BUT YES THIS WEBSITE EXISTS SO HOPEFULLY IT WILL HELP YOU FIGURE OUT HOW LONG YOUR PAPER WILL TAKE

5 Tips for Public Speaking
1. Practice Out Loud. I cannot stress this enough. Don’t just read over your notes or imagine saying it in your head, actually SPEAK THE WORDS over and over again. This will make you feel so much more comfortable when you’re in front of everyone. Also, once you think you’ve practiced enough, do it three more times.
2. No One Cares. No one cares if you mess up a word or totally blank on part of your speech. Think about how many times you’ve zoned out or not even paid attention to what was being said? You guessed it, everyone is doing the same to you. We’re always hypercritical of ourselves, but no one else really cares. This applies to most things in life.
3. Drink/Eat Before. Especially if it’s a morning class! Make sure you’re well hydrated and not hungry. Nothing’s worse than feeling like you’re going to pass out from nerves and/or hunger while you’re standing in front of a small gathering of your peers.
4. Go First. And if you don’t go first, try to at least go before the fifth person. This may seem terrifying, but the longer you sit there, the more nervous you become. Knocking it out first will help you calm down and just get it over with, so you can relax the rest of the class. 5. Dress Comfortably/Style Hair. Make sure to wear something comfortable and that you won’t fidget with. Even if you have to dress up nicely, still wear something that you’ve worn a couple times before and feel really confident in! Also, a tip for anyone with long hair, try to style it out of your face, especially if you’re the type of person to constantly mess with it. This extra distraction might make you lose focus and forget what you’re trying to say during your speech.
Bonus Tip: Follow the instructions! I know it seems simple, but in my COLLEGE level speech class, so many people did poorly on their speeches just because they didn’t include everything required of them. Double check to make sure you have added everything, like sources, works cited, etc. depending on what your teacher assigns. This is a great way to get easy points, so you will have a higher grade, even if you do mess up the presentation part of it!

How to keep your school bag organised
Keep all of your work in folders. This will stop the paper getting crushed and messy. It would help if you had a separate folder for each class because all your work will be in one place.
Keep all your pens and stationary in a pencil case. I take two with me, one for pens and pencils, the other for colours which I might not need every lesson.
Carry a small canvas fold away bag with you in case you have a lot of books to take home one day.
Get a cosmetics bag to put random things in such as lip balms or headphones - this help you find things in a rush which are normally at the bottom of your bag.
Put all of your money in a purse. If you don’t want to carry your normal purse and a lot of money get a smaller one.
Get a key ring for your keys - you really don’t want to lose these!
