#howwwillyouLIGHTtheworldtoday Week 30 âThe Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.â Psalm 28:7 This is the gospel teaching my kids and I are focusing on this week. . In the Old Testament Student Manual it teaches, âThe psalms in Hebrew are called Tehillim, a word coming from the Hebrew word halal, âto praiseâ (Clarke, Bible Commentary, 3:199). The same root forms the word hallelujah, meaning âpraise to Yahâ (Jehovah). Unlike some modern songs that tend to depress the spirit, the psalms have the power to lift one toward God. The psalms are a collection of some of the very finest of the worldâs inspirational literature.â . Bruce R. McConkie testified, âIn view of all that the Lord Jesus Christ has done for us, ought we not to sing praises to his holy name forever?â . How can you sing His praises today? #howwillyoulighttheworldtoday

#howwwillyouLIGHTtheworldtoday Week 29 âJesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.â John 14:6 This is the gospel teaching my kids and I are focusing on this week. . I love these words from Neal A. Maxwell. . Jesus Christ is the way to lasting happiness. He is the only way back to God. Only through the Atonement of Jesus Christ and by following His example can we return to live with God. He knows the way to God because He is the way.If we choose any other way, it wonât matter what we have chosen. . How are you choosing to follow Christ today? #howwillyoulighttheworldtoday ?

#howwwillyouLIGHTtheworldtoday Week 28 âHave not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.â Joshua 1:9 This is the gospel teaching my kids and I focused on this week. I love the peace I have felt as I have pondered on the promise in this verse and as I have reflected on times when God has walked with me when I was scared or worried or overwhelmed. That peace comes from the Holy Ghost to let us know this promise is true! . My two oldest spent most of this week far from home on a 4-day trek pulling handcarts through Wyoming. I purposely chose this scripture for this week because I especially wanted them to remember they were not aloneâin those moments when they needed extra courage or strength or encouragement and when what was before them seemed more than what they could do. My hope was that in those moments, they would remember the promise in this scripture that God is with them wherever they go, no matter what the struggle is that they are facing. . More than that, I want each of my kids to really know that God loves them and is aware of them and is willing to help them and strengthen them. Not just on trek and not just in âbigâ things, but in all things. . I am grateful to know that none of us is ever alone! God loves each one of us. He is willing to walk with each of us through whatever storm we face. #howwillyoulighttheworldtoday

Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.â Joshua 1:9 This is the gospel teaching my kids and I are focusing on this week. . As the Lord promised Joshua in this scripture, God is with us wherever we go. That doesnât mean we will go through life unscathed or that our struggles will be minor. . I love the insight on this from D. Todd Christofferson. He described a time in his life when he was experiencing an overwhelming trial that lasted a very long time. Of this time he said, âWhen this [the trial] began happening in my life, my prayer was, âGive me a miracle; solve this problem,â and it took a while to finally come to the point of saying, âIâm content to get daily help and let it take what time it takes, knowing that I am relying upon God.â Itâs been a blessing ever since ⌠because of what it meant for my relationship with Him. Maybe the greatest blessing is to have to walk through it with Him.â . Having God walk through our struggles with us makes all the difference. . When have you been aware of God walking through your trials with you? How has that strengthened you? #howwillyoulighttheworldtoday

Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.â Joshua 1:9 This is the gospel teaching my kids and I are focusing on this week. . The word courage is defined as âmental or moral strength to ⌠persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficultyâ (Merriam-Websterâs Collegiate Dictionary). . Thomas S. Monson taught, âThe call for courage comes constantly to each of us. Every day of our lives courage is neededânot just for the momentous events but more often as we make decisions or respond to circumstances around us.â . Courage comes in many forms. Charles Swindoll wrote, âCourage is not limited to the battlefield ⌠or bravely catching a thief in your house. The real tests of courage are much quieter. They are inner tests, like remaining faithful when no oneâs looking, ⌠like standing alone when youâre misunderstood.â . When has God blessed you with courage? How has that courage blessed you? How has that courage been a blessing to your kids? #howwillyoulighttheworldtoday
