Yes, that's a thing viruses can do. Don't give this one the chance. I used to be an adventurer like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

What's the XDM2e project, why does it look like a cross between Ringworld and Discworld, and where do I learn more about it?

XDM2e is Tracy Hickman's answer to everything that might (or might not!) be going wrong with whatever tabletop RPG you're playing. It's a guide for running role-playing games. It includes instructions for building ridiculous mash-ups, and one of the illustrations I did was for just such a concept: what if you want to play a mashup of Discworld and Halo? (The Halo is 10,000 kilometers in diameter. The Discworld is 12,000 kilometers in diameter. Yes, I did the math before drawing the picture.)

What little I know of Long Covid suggests that it's some kind of nutrient deficiency. Are you up for educating me further?

It's more like a nutrient *delivery* deficiency. Capillary transfer is inefficient because the immune system clutters the blood stream with micro clots.

Symptomatically, any exertion can result in sudden onset of severe fatigue, followed by a complete physical and mental crash.

My new scooter, which is totally an accessibility device because the chief symptom of my #LongCovid/#MECFS is low stamina. I can stand with a support (cane, or handlebars) for much longer than I can walk, and this lets me stand while still moving. Because wheels! They are miraculous!

When I put a soda can in the wire loop bottle holder on my cane the can would rattle around loudly. So I added a bunch of O-rings on the wire, and now the rattling is gone. Also, it looks kind of sinister.
