i wanna explain/slap down some descs of my diff verses and aus, so. uh. yeah! * heiress au : after a failed escape attempt by her father, mamiko fujioka grows up residing on the maw, instead of the mainlands. under the lady’s care, she is raised as the ship’s heiress: it’s something the girl has been prepared for her entire life, but.
whether her mother is ready to hand over the torch, is another thing completely. plus, mamiko has been slowly uncovering more and more about the maw, about what really goes on there, and, well. * dbd au : in the 1920s, tragedy struck in tsuruoka, japan. an orphanage, housing many children under the care of a headmistress, was the site of a brutal massacre. one night, under the dark of the new moon, many children were killed in their beds, and the building set ablaze. there were no survivors, and the headmistress, nor her body, were ever found.
ninety-eight years later, two runaway kids stumble upon the remnants of the burned down building, hidden deep in the woods. as the night was stormy, rain coming down in blinding sheets, they decided to take shelter in the building and wait for the storm to pass. these children were never seen again. six, been taken by the entity, is now a participant in something known as ‘the trials’ in the entity’s realm. there, she has to fight tooth and nail to survive, escaping killers the best she can while repairing generators and make it out alive. again and again shes forced to take part, but, determined as ever, she knows that, one day, she’ll escape these games for good.
* twdg au : a resident of a group home prior to the appearance of walkers, six and her best friend, mono, remained there with other kids and social workers when the world fell apart. they were safe there, all things considered, until a group of raiders happened upon their hideaway. due to the actions of the raiders, a horde washed over the group home, as a result, six was bitten. thankfully, it was discovered that six was immune to the bite -- at least, partially. she keeps ahold of herself, though at times she falls into fits of insatiable hunger, much like a walker. despite this, mono stays by her side: after all, they are best friends. the two of them now travel together searching for a place to call home.
* bioshock au : katsumi fujioka, (stage name, ‘the lady of the sea’) was a socialite in rapture, working closely with sander cohen, being a long time friend, and student of his, she worked in his nightclubs as a performer – and she was considered the best of the best. however, like most of the city, she slowly developed an addiction to adam, using it to keep herself beautiful and to upkeep her talents, refusing to give up the spotlight no matter the cost. despite knowing, at least in part, the horrors that awaited a child within those orphanage walls, her growing need for adam eventually led her to trade her young daughter, mamiko fujioka, for a steady supply of the stuff she craved. the girl was quickly placed in the little sister program, and eventually became one of the children rescued by a rebelled dr. tenebraum, who managed to mostly reverse the procedure. but, something went wrong with mamiko.
while yes, it reversed any physical effects, and stopped any adam production from occurring; mamiko’s body couldn’t seem to understand the loss. because of this, she suffers fits of hunger where her body attempts to replace the adam that it no longer creates, causing massive cravings. since then mamiko has been living within tenebraum’s safehouse along with the other rescued children, as the doctor tries to find something to rid her of her unfortunate complication. and, where they stay, holed up; she, along with a handful of the other children, act as scouts of sorts for the safehouse. taking a numbered nickname as they go out to look for supplies to help sustain the group, helping rescue more children still trapped within the program, etc etc.
* lady of the maw au : after braving the horrors of the maw and defeating the lady, consuming her power, six finds herself over -whelmed with the memories that wash over her, revealing the truth of the maw, her family, and all the horrors that come with it. exhausted from everything that she faced, from the fact that her father tried so hard to save her from this fate and failed, six no longer has the fight left in her to turn her back on what seems to be the only path left. instead of forging on, creating her own fate, she takes over as the ruler of the maw.

sooo, i have some thoughts abt time loop stuff, this time about how six and mono met in each one–since it was always a lil different, y’know? first loop/original: they saw each other for the first time during one of six’s many attempts to escape the hunter. but, then met more officially in the hunters cabin, and they escape into the city together. (then, they head to the school) (incomplete second loop, six’s death)
third loop: six avoided capture/escaped the wilderness all on her own, but got snatched up by the teacher instead. she’s held at the school until she can eventually be shipped off to the tower, but. at some point, she meets mono (who’s also trapped there), and convinces him to escape with her. (and then, to the hospital) (incomplete fourth loop, mono’s death)
fifth loop/final: mono again, avoids capture/escapes the wilderness alone, but ends up at the hospital first, instead of the school. there, he finds the doctor about to experiment on six, but manages to distract him long enough that he can free her, and they escape together. (then, they head to the school) also, an idea abt the time loop i had/in ref to dash stuff: by the final go around, the loop is. starting to become a little unstable. bc like, the phantom kids are what’s powering the signal tower, and six + mono have been freeing them, so. y'know. the effects of this can vary, but! it does open up the possibly of other stuff ‘break -ing’, like RK not dying/him escaping and meeting up with six, them finding RCG in the city somewhere too, etc etc! like, as it all sorta comes to a head™
(and, it ends when the ex-phantom kids they saved throughout each circle-back come to help them escape the signal tower alive, etc etc)

this is a more ‘official’ version of the post i made awhile back, abt how the other three bosses fit into the whole tower/thin-man scheme thing! >the hunter is someone that helps gather up and transport the cities children so they can be taken to the tower. along with making quick work of any possible escapees from the school, hospital, etc etc. he’s ‘paid’ in parts for his collection of strange taxidermy, some human, some not. (hence the mannequin pieces from the hospital found in his attic.)
>the teacher, obviously, works at the schoolhouse, educating and straightening out the rather unruly doll-children/‘bullies’ made there. >she’s possibly the absent guardian of the pretender, along with (as we know him) the hanging man? this is based off a family portrait, plus a few other paintings you can find in the nest. >the janitor used to work for the teacher/the school, he was known as the toymaker, in charge of actually making the the doll-children.
>sometimes, the signal isn’t a hundred percent effective, and people can snap out of it’s control, for brief periods of time. unable to handle seeing their world for what it truly is, they turn to the doctor for help, hoping he’ll be able to ‘fix them’. and, well. he… certainly does! in a way, i guess. >hobbled together from human bodies and mannequin parts, they’re turned into hopefully mindless drones. some patients are left to do the doctor’s bidding around the hospital, and some are sent off to the tower to help keep the machinery running, (similar to a nome’s jobs on the maw). that, and watching over the trapped/sleeping children there.

oh, just realized, i forgot to go into more detailed abt the worldly horror attached to six + her family! the cause of the whole hunger ritual stuff. let’s get into this, shall we? <3 >‘the deep’, or sometimes, ‘the sea’s halo’ was a weird floaty eyeball kraken melted jellyfish looking thing! it terrorized mostly the ocean, but also the shorelines on occasion, if you were unlucky enough. >there’s probs some rlly old sea shanties and stuff abt it, and some legend stuff tied to it, too. (though, that second thing can be said for a lot of the world’s horrors, they been around for. basically ever, so.)
>the deep sorta just hovered a good distance above the sea, dragging their many long inky limbs limply across the water, leaving a small trail behind. >it has a sort of ‘attack mode’, so to speak. once it spotted something, it’s large singular eye would widen, and the bloodshot eye-whites turned black. then, the eye would begin leaking large amounts of ink, and this continued until it’s prey was either out of sight, or simply dead. >but, it never really reach out for you/attack you directly, instead opting to use their shadowy magic to do any of the dirty work.
>the maw was actually created before the deal was made, so there was frequent run-ins and attacks as the creature tried to get rid of the vessel bc. territorial. the maw still has the scars from it + the half-hazard patch jobs to this day. >at some point, the creature saw ‘potential’ in the then lady, and struck up a deal. it all went down hill from there, as we know. can we get an f, asdfghjkl >besides the most concerning symptom, the strange hunger it causes, there’s a few visible ways the deep manifests once with a human host as well, such as!–
>a singular large eye, centered on the top half of the face. >a pair of functionable gills, on either sides of the neck. >patches of fish scales, these can usually found on both the sides of the abdomen, the lower legs, the forearms, and the nape of the neck, which wraps around to around the ears/behind the jawline. >bonus, the color of said scales varies from person to person, but six’s are vaguely sunset colored, (mostly a pretty orange/yellow)! >webbed fingers and toes, matching the scales’ main color. and, six, of course, is no diff in that regard, having the same traits listed above.

under the cut will be my general hc about the timeline of the general story, and my six's canon divergence.
>the nest happened about a year before the main game, six was a curious and adventurous little girl, which often got her into some trouble, the nest was no different. but what was different, was the friend she found in such a scary place, raincoat girl. unfortunately, while six made it out alive, raincoat girl did not, despite six’s best efforts. she now wears the girl’s old raincoat in remembrance.
>six is taken from the beaches surrounding her home, and dumped into the depths of the maw. when she awakes with a start, due to the maw’s effects, she doesn’t remember much about who she is, or how exactly she got there. >though she was terrified, a strange vision compels her forward, but she isn’t sure what, or why. her journey on the maw from bottom to top, took about a months time. she meets the campfire kids, (the ones from the old comics), at some point while trying to hide from the chefs. the group doesn’t remember their names either. instead, they go by nicknames. they give her name, ‘six’. >she has to move on, eventually, but hopes she’ll see them again, someday.
>six unknowingly completes the ritual, gaining her mother’s powers, along with all of her memories, and her knowledge. six knew she was supposed to become the next lady of the maw, but. uh, not a chance. >instead? she tore through the maw, wrecking havoc in her wake, no one could get in her way. she threw open the doors, and she escaped into the day, leaving the now empty, powerless ship to simply rot away. >once outside, she was lucky enough to be able to hijack’s fate’s little row-boat, left near by from his most recent trip to the maw. >though, unfortunely, her trip back to the mainlands, isn’t exactly a smooth one. it’s just her luck, isn’t it? as six got closer and closer to shore, the signal tower began to effect her, and her new powers.
>the people running the show weren’t ever a big fan of the fujioka family, due to their little ‘safehouse’ idea. so, part of the signal acts as a sort of ‘jammer’, supposed to keep her from ever coming ashore. >and when six began to suffer from it’s effect, her powers, the thing that’d been attached to her… sort of freaked out, panicked, trying to protect itself. after a short struggle to regain control which. didn’t go so well, her boat flipped, and the next thing she remembers is waking up, washed up on forest’s beach. >(she also lost her raincoat and lighter at some point, washing up without either one. she finds both things again later on in the pale though, much to six’s relief, considering their personal value.)
>and, that’s when the hunter found her and took her in. six didn’t have much choice in the matter, considering how weak she was. >she had a few escape attempts, though unfortunely none were especially successful, only causing the hunter to become more and more strict. (during one of these attempts, she saw mono.) >eventually, mono came to help her, and though six is. like, vaguely suspicious/distrustful of him at first, they end up escaping together. >their journey continues. though the school, the hospital, the city streets, but. the signal tower’s effect on mono gets worse and worse, it beacons him closer, and closer, until!– the thinman is set free once more, and quickly sets his sights on the kid responsible, and his little friend, too. the thinman kidnaps six, both to use her as bait, and to get her outta the way, considering what’s next.
>during their final encounter, the thinman willingly gives up his powers to mono, and fades away. he assumed mono would go and defeat six, and then, in the end, become the new thinman, leaving no loose ends behind. >but, mono actually found a different way, and managed to revert the changes the signal-infused music box had on six, which. yay! >what’s less ‘yay’ though, is. how the signal reacts, considering it no longer has its puppeteer. it lashes out, manifesting within the tower, and doing everything in it’s power to get to mono. >the two try to escape, mono jumps the gap across a broken bridge, and six catches him. but, struggles to pull him up against the aggressive pull of the signal. try as she might, his hand eventually slips out of her grasp, and mono falls into the darkness below. >she hesitates, wanting to go after him… somehow, but as the tower threatens to collapse around her, she’s forced to leave him behind, unless she wants to go down with him.
>mono does what the signal wants, he becomes the new thinman, but with this newfound power, he doesn’t go quietly. he refuses to believe this is the end, the real end, and… well. then it’s not. >time itself rewinds, starting again at the beginning. six escapes the maw again, mono escapes whatever he had been dealing with before as well. then, they meet in the hunter’s cabin, and the rest of their story plays out, repeated. >they go through this loop five times in total, they escape, they meet, they have their adventure, and it ends with the two of them unceremoniously separated.
>neither remember anything once the loop restarts again, but. who does remember, is the phantom kids they save throughout each of their journeys. so, after the third go-around, that group of kids step in last minute and help six and mono escape the tower together, finally breaking the loop, and taking the signal tower down with it. >the destruction of the signal tower doesn’t mean everything’s alright now, of course. the world they live in is still a scary one, and it can’t be fixed over night. >but, hey. it’s a start, and. at least now, they have each other again.

under the cut is my hc abt the maw (plus, six’s backstory bc its kinda intertwined), the signal tower, and how both of them function. along with what kinda world would create both of them in the first place.
(the maw, ft six’s backstory)
>six’s mother was the lady of the maw, and her father was a visitor who had been just ‘passing through’, but ended up staying a lot longer then intended. what he didn’t realize, was the fate he doomed his daughter with that decision. >there was a familial curse that clung to the fujioka bloodline, the side effects of a deal taken god knows how many years ago. an exchange of power, for sustenance. the lady got powerful dark magic, and the entity that was now attached to her acted much like a parasite, being passed from host to host.
>the maw was, originally, created with good intentions. it’s hard to believe now, but. once upon a time, it was supposed to be a sort of safehouse, protecting people from the confusing world outside, among other things. >but, even it eventually succumbed to greed, and fell into the state of disrepair we know it to be today, cannibalism and death now rampant. >problem children and attempted runaways are turned to nomes by the lady’s dark magic, and are then left to try and keep the dying ship running. >the lady of the maw’s first born child with always fall ill soon after birth, the most concerning of the symptoms? a growing hunger. it’ll start out subtle, and then become uncomfortable, but bearable. it only gets worse from there. eventually, it’ll be so overwhelming, the child has no choice but to lunge out!– >they then become the next ruler of the maw, taking their parents place, and the cycle continues. the beast is settled for now, but it’ll want to feed again, eventually.
>the visitor was kept in the dark of this inevitably, of course. that is, until he heard the strangely dark lullaby his new wife lulled their child to sleep with from the next room. it was a bit too detailed, a bit too… real, maybe? soon, he came to wish that wasn’t the case. >though the visitor was to quick to placate his wife, soothing her fears of him ‘getting in the way of fate’. he, of course, was already making a plan to get himself, and their kid, out of the situation. though he still loved the lady, or loved at least what he thought he knew, he wouldn’t, couldn’t, put his daughter through all of that.
>on the same day, every year, the maw resurfaces for a short period, boats from near and far come bellowing with the hungry chants of the guests eager to get aboard. the visitor simply kept his head down, blending into the noisy sea of flesh, he managed to slip onto one of the visiting ships, and hitches a ride back to the mainlands, with his now almost year old daughter in tow. >he settled down, finding himself a job as a lighthouse keeper. when running from something that stalks the seas, most people would assume the smartest course of action would be to move somewhere inland. runaway as far as possible, forget the smell of the ocean breeze all together, but… >he just thought that maybe, maybe, with the lighthouse, he could see fate when it came for them. that wasn’t the case, unfortunately.
(the mainlands/the tower)
>the tower’s general purpose is to keep it’s citizens in a happy, totally unaware state, allowing the ‘worldly horrors’, (the north wind, the man in the mirror, etc etc), to feed off their hope. which in turn, makes them leave the quote unquote, 'more important people’ alone. (these being people like the pretender, the hunter, the teacher, the doctor, etc etc.)
>the signal itself is powered by children’s dreams, hence it’s effect, as it plays off adult’s nostalgia and ache for their past. simpler times, y'know? to get these dreams, normal children are kidnapped from their homes, being replaced with a doll-child. their parents are usually so out of it, they can’t tell the difference. >these doll-children are created and educated at the schoolhouse by it’s strict teacher. it was a normal school at some point, but that’s not the case anymore. >once the children have been captured, they are brought to the tower, and put to sleep. any dreams they have are stolen from them, which leaves them with only a enteral nightmare. they don’t age once asleep, some of those kids have been trapped for many, many, many years. >the only person able to free them and wake them from their slumber is mono/the thinman himself, bc he’s able to see the what’s left behind of those kids, the static phantoms that silently haunt the airwaves.
>there’s an even more unfortune side effect to all this. the signal is made up of mostly good dreams, of course, but. those nightmares? they affect it too, albeit more subtly, and slow. they’ve been leaking into reality itself, distorting the world and its inhabitants, more and more. adults tower over children with horrifying faces, terrible things lurk in the dark and under the bed, and they’re left to defend for themselves. and, the 'important people’ either aren’t paying attention, or. if they do see it, but they just don’t care. >as for the thinman himself, he acts as a sort of 'ghost in the machine’, simply pulling the strings from behind the scenes. he’s apart of the signal itself, that is, until someone with a similar gift, can reach and free him, like mono unknowingly does in-game. this cycle is similar to the lady’s, as once defeated, the child is destined to become the new thin-man, so forth so on.

anyway, more random character thoughts: each one of the runaways had a different… ‘horror’, so to speak, that they were chased/hunted/generally terrorized by. the northwind, the man in the mirror, etc etc. but, after so many brushes with fear, with death, they were always offered an ‘escape’, by a strange man, the ferryman, the personification of fate. in their case, it was a stroke of luck to ‘escape’ from their horror. though of course, being un -aware of the maw’s own horrors that lay ahead. but, still. however, with six… it was different, because the horror she faced?–was fate itself.
