🌟| 🪄 — Kádár L. Gellért (Hunyadi János) on Instagram, 2025. 03. 27.

On Saturday, the episode that was the most intense for me to film—physically, mentally, and emotionally—will be released. I battled the forces of nature, while Hunyadi fought the Ottomans. Fire, water, mud, rain (machines)… pure hell. And yet, the days spent under the rain machines gave me an experience of a lifetime. During this time, I had the chance to practice discipline, focus, endurance, and patience—both with myself and my teammates. Bringing this vision to life was true teamwork. On that note, I’m sharing some photos—hopefully, they’ll get you excited for Saturday.

⚜️— Rise of the Raven / Hunyadi official posters: International vs. Hungarian

Interesting detail is how, although even many official sources don't feature it, Hunyadi also has a subtitle in Hungarian: "Akiért a déli harang szól", or "For Whom the Noon Bell Tolls", referring to the fact that when Christian armies lead by Hunyadi faced the invading Ottomans in 1456 at the Siege of Belgrade (Nándorfehérvár), Pope Callixtus III ordered church bells to be rung at noon to call for prayer for victory — and said victory was indeed won, halting Ottoman expansion into Europe for 70 years. Ever since, to this day, all across Europe church bells are still rung at noon in commemoration of the event.

Hunyadi's golden armor... or is it?

✨ — Promotional materials for Rise of the Raven / Hunyadi prominently feature the titular Hunyadi János wearing striking all-golden armor, but if you were to watch the series and look for it, you might notice something a bit odd about it...

...namely, that the design and the golden color come from two entirely different suits of armor! As seen in S01E03 (c. 30:30), on the left is Kamonyai Simon (László Zsolt), friend and comrade of Hunyadi (Kádár L. Gellért), wearing the suit of armor with the corresponding fleur-de-lis design on the chest, next to Hunyadi in an all-golden ensemble he received as a gift from the Duke of Milan, which interestingly does have tassets (those hanging upper thigh protector pieces) that match the illustration that most likely inspired it.

The composite design seems to be based on this depiction of Hunyadi found in the Brünn/Brno edition of the Thuróczy Chronicle/Chronica Hungarorum of 1488:
