I dunno if this qualifies for @hwsasiaweek. But the theme: The relief of giving into destruction, intrigued me.

At first I thought it has something to do with giving up or losing. But I googled it, apparently it's a quote from somewhere which means there's a sense of relief or freedom in accepting the inevitability of the negative aspects of one's life. It's acceptance, not neccesarily surrender. And ooohh boy, my boy Phil is no where near accepting the uglies. Fuck yeah! Pinoy pride! That's one long ass angsty story, I unfortunately don't have time to unpack.

But, you know I blame this guy. It all started with this guy.

Ph - Brent Manalo

No idea who this guy is, but I see potential. I've always thought Phili's human age would be younger than Alfred. Their age seems to be affected by their growth as a nation, and the Spanish period definitely stunted his growth (I imagined Ph to be born by 1570s-80s, but is only around 12-14 yrs old in 1898).

But apparently, Phili is canonically an adult. Still, I don't see him that much older. Probably 19.5 to 20 yrs old. He gives me college age vibes.

Anyway...

I thought of face claims, but, ugh! I don't really like local showbiz, so I don't know that many celebs. But I saw an old twitter post around the time Ph became canon citing Alden Richards. I dunno tho. He has a sweet-looking face, and a nice guy image (I heard he's just as sweet and nice irl). But I don't think he capture's Ph that much. I'm getting more hws Indonesia vibes from him.

Anybody got Ph face claims? I'm interested in other Asean face claims too.

Just some old PH OCs I made a lifetime ago but never finished. I'm pretty sure I've never posted these, so I thought I'd share it here. These are Phili's older siblings, some of the more popular pre-colonial kingdoms that existed before Spanish colonization. Manila isn't here, but he looks similar to Tondo. Just younger and has a friendlier looking face.

Major players during the early years of Spanish colonization would be Tondo, Manila, and Cebu.

Tondo is my favorite due to various reasons, but especially because he's the main reason for the BruneixPh ship lol.

Zamboanga is located in the southern part of the Ph in the island of Mindanao. During Spanish times, it was a garrison meant to protect the colony from Moro Pirates. Of course, these Moro pirates were just the native Muslims who never stopped fighting the Spaniards to stop them from colonizing them.

Due to the long travel time between Spain and the Phil, administration of the islands was under Nueva España until Mexico's independence in 1821. So most of the Spanish influence the Phil got was mostly from Mexico. I believe this is why Filipinos are often referred to as the Mexicans of Asia. The similarities can't be helped when it was your brother who raised of you. They're just the best bros!

February is the coldest month in the Ph in my opinion, and poor Phil has no one to cuddle with.
