Synopsis: In the Dreaming, a once vibrant realm now lies in ruins after Morpheus' century-long absence, leaving the Queen and Lucienne struggling to maintain its remnants. When Morpheus finally returns, weak and broken, the Queen's unwavering love brings him solace, as they begin the journey of restoring both the realm and his shattered heart.
The Dreaming, once home to beautifully lush forests and paths for its visitors to travel through, now lays grey and barren, stones and ash replacing the garden.
"Lucienne? What do you think?" The girl says, once Queen of this land, now one of the only inhabitants left.
"I think it's wonderful, My Lady. Though, how long do you think they will last this time? We got about a week out of them last time we tried." Lucienne remarks, wanting to be helpful with the new garden, but she knows it won't last, not without Morpheus.
"We'll do what we can, hopefully I can find something in the library that may help us this time around." The librarian says, walking off.
Though before she can really go anywhere, the air around them changes. Once tense and stuffy for a century, now feeling like a breath of fresh air. Confused by this, both women look at each other.
They go to the gates of the Dreaming, hoping to not find an intruder, they've had quite the few 'visitors', usually Lucifer wanting whatever is left of the Dreaming.
Instead, they find a naked Morpheus, a body the Queen knew very well. She rushes over, covering him with her cloak. Her hands travel all over him, touching his face and chest, trying to etch it into her brain.
"Morpheus..?" She whispers, barely audible. He looks at her, tears welling in his eyes, he looks terribly weak and vulnerable. A state she's only seen once before, when Orpheus died many years in the past.
He envelopes her in a desperate hug, inhaling her scent, practically eating her whole. Lucienne watches, a little awkwardly. They stay like that, just taking each other in, wordlessly.
Morpheus pulls away, reluctant, still keeping a hand on her. He observes the area, looking at the devastation that whisked in his departure. His palace in literal crumbles, the land is practically barren, their dimension in ruins..
She takes him back to the palace, Lucienne following close behind and updating him on what had occurred. They really did try their best, with Y/N's magic and Lucienne's library, but never could they be as powerful as Morpheus.
“The residents slowly left, most held hope you would come back, but after fifty years or so…” Y/N Mutters, holding onto him as if he were such a delicate crystal, her fingertips burning Morpheus skin in the most touch-starved way possible. One hundred and six years of no physical contact with another being, just in a stupid hamster ball. He’s practically melting into the girl.
They arrived at a wing of the rubbled palace, a few chambers still held up, ushering Morpheus to take a shower and relax. “Darling, are you alright? You’re so pale and gaunt.. Let me see if Abel and Cain have something for you to munch on!” His wife says in a hurry, off to see what they can offer. Though before she can go on her adventure, Morpheus tugs on her wrist, not wanting her to leave.
“Stay, my love.. I will recover when I rest, but please just stay by my side.” She knows he has a double meaning, smiling so sweetly at him, as if he were the stars and she were the moon. “I’ll always be here, even if the sun falls and the moon bursts into pieces, I’ll stand by your side.” She mutters to him as she pecks at his lips.
Morpheus is rarely an emotional person, but hearing that makes his heart feel like it was embroidered by her hands, string by string. He looks at his wife, still in the bathtub, and gives her a soft kiss. One filled with love, adoration, and absolute desperation.
She giggles as she pulls back, yet he chases her lips, capturing them once again. “You are drained and weak, there is much rest needed to be done before anything else!” she chides, finally pulling away from his reach. He rolls his eyes, submerging himself below the water.
The Queen chuckles, going to retrieve some clothing for his, as well as to prepare something for him to eat. Rummaging through the rest of his closet, she lands on a cloak that should still fit him. Laying it on the bed, she hurries to make something in the kitchen that always needs toe be repaired due to the crumbling nature of the realm.
“My Lady, would you like some help? Abel and Cain have graciously given some vegetables and a chicken they were raising.” Lucienne puts a basket of vegetables and a butchered chicken. “Oh that is lovely, I wish we had time to make chicken soup, but I think a roasted chicken would be quicker.”
She grabs the chicken, rubbing some seasoning and olive oil first, then pops it into the oven so it’ll be done about the same time as the vegetables. Lucienne helps prep the vegetables, peeling carrots and washing the cauliflower. Y/N is chopping everything up and making sure the stove is on with a pot of boiling water.
They wait a few minutes to time everything perfectly. In the meantime, they set up the dining table and wash anything that they had used in the cooking process. Lucienne pops back into the kitchen, salting the boiling water and drops the vegetables in. In return for the food, they have invited Abel and Cain to join them for dinner.
While Lucienne keeps an eye on the vegetables, Y/N pulls the chicken out of the oven and carving the meat away from the bones. Lucienne makes a quick gravy to serve over the chicken. They both plate everything up into serving dishes, humming a little tune and chatting about the recent duel they heard about in Hell.
Morpheus by this point has dried himself off and changed into the clothes Y/N left out for him. The smell coming from the kitchen urges him out of the room. Though Morpheus and his kind do not die from starvation, the feeling of pure hunger aches deep within.
“Dream? So it’s true! You’ve returned!” Abel envelopes him in a strong hug. Out of the two brothers, Abel has always been the more emotional one. Cain greets him, welcoming him back and giving a hug as well.
“So I take that you’ll be joining us for dinner?” Dream asks, sitting at his spot at the dining table. The brothers nod, taking their own respective seats. It's rare that they would get to dine with Morpheus, even before he left. Morpheus was much too busy to entertain guests, one of his deepest regrets when he was pondering his life in that fishbowl of a bubble.
Y/N and Lucienne bring out the dishes, serving everyone a hefty chunk of food. She briefly kisses Morpheus’ temple as she’s serving him, then returning to her own seat. There’s an elephant in the room that no one wants to address, making the atmosphere slightly tense. “You were gone for one hundred years, Dream.. Where were you?” Y/N cuts into her chicken while asking, trying to be super nonchalont.
Dream sighs, taking a bite of his potato before answering. “A man, he refused to accept the death of his son, leading him to try and make a deal with Death. He recited the incantation wrong or maybe it was the wrong spell entirely, but he had captured me instead. Kept trying to make a deal with me to bring his son back with mortal currencies and royalties, though it is not within my power to offer such things. He hated his youngest son, refused to accept him. But after he died, his son continued to keep me in this glass ball. His son killed Jessamy! What kind of person would do such a thing?? Only managed to escape because a guard had fallen asleep.” He rants on, enraged by such a depressing chapter of his life.
The rest of the table looks at each other worriedly as he explains, Y/N looking absolutely mortified. She puts a hand over his, trying to distract him, giving him a warm and sympathetic smile. She pours him more water, silently encouraging to drink more, knowing how dehydrated he must be.
Everyone is really awkward, not quite sure how to go about this. In the background, a piece of the west tower has fallen, leaving behind a huge boom. It doesn’t phase them, but Morpheus jumps up like a little kitten, looking around confused.
“Oh gosh, don’t worry sweetheart, come let’s take a walk,” She asks if Lucienne could finish cleaning up the dining table, which Lucienne accepts and wiggles her eyebrows. Y/N rolls her eyes in a teasing manner, holding Dream’s arm.
They walk to different parts of the realm, seeing how deserted and barren the land truly had become. Home’s were destroyed, dreams and nightmares loose, even Fiddler’s Green has gone! It brings him to literal tears, watching everything he has ever worked for be drained of it’s life.
“How dare they..? Take every litte piece of my world, my realm, my work! All for what? For some stupid boy who’s fought for his country? He played his part in life. Like every little domino in life, they fall, so what? You’ve ruined my life’s work, the entire reason of my existence for a son who tried so heavily to get away from your sick cult!?” He goes on and on, just venting his poor heart out to his wife.
She holds him in her arms, just like she did all those years ago.. “Muffin? Look at me.. shhh no it’s okay, cry it out love.” She’s petting his hair and playing with his hand. Morpheus has always been a tough man with little warmth in his heart, only ever reserved for Y/N. But being stuck in a hamster ball for a century has taken a toll on him, mentally speaking. Thinking of his life choices, his actions and words, regretting moments and missing out on so many things.
Now that he’s out of the horrible glass cage, Dream feels as though he’s found a saviour. Though Y/N was not able to save him from captivity, she did save him for the chains that weighed down his heart and mind. She saved him from the dark, festering thought that embedded themselves into his mind not even a whole day ago. Although there is much repair that is needed in his realm, in her arms, he is finally free.

Synopsis: Late-night confessions and long-forgotten family secrets surface at Grimmauld Place, pulling Harry closer to his godparents, Sirius, Remus, and Y/N. As they share laughter over breakfast, the trio finds solace in each other, turning a house full of sorrow into a place of healing and family.
A once cold and dreary house, now filled with melancholic warmth, Grimmauld Place makes everyone uneasy due to its history.
Harry pads his feet gently across the hallway, hoping to be discreet In his search of a misplaced book. Hermione had told him to pack earlier, they’d be leaving for their fifth year the day after tomorrow. In Harry fashion, he had told her not to worry, now he's worried he won't be able to pack his bag.
“S'not fair, Siri…” Hearing the voice of his Godmother, he pauses, wanting to hear the conversation. What isn’t fair? He’s never heard his godmother cry in the five years he’s known her
“I know darling, but we have to push through, we have to raise that boy…even if it's the last thing we do.” Sirius holds her, the tears in her eyes giving away. Remus joins the hug, his heart breaking for his lovers. She tries to keep her sobs to a minimum, it’s late and she doesn’t want to wake people up.
“It’s been 14 years, yet I still can’t get over them. Everyone says he’s got Lily’s eyes…but he’s also got James’ smile,” she sobs even harder into Remus, unable to hold back. Y/N had known James since they were in diapers, raised together and practically siblings, despite being two years younger.
Sirius gives Remus a look, passing her off to Remus. The werewolf cradles her, patting her hair down and wiping her tears away. He pulls her onto the bed, trying to get her to relax more. Between the two boys, Remus had always been the better comforter.
“Harry, what are you doing up?” Sirius pops out of the room, spotting Harry near the end of the corridor. He freezes in place, not wanting to admit he was eavesdropping. “Just looking for my Herbology book, need to pack my case.” Sirius hums in acceptance.
Walking down to Harry, he smiles. “D’you ever wonder where the Potter Manor went? I mean, your father was a Pureblood, your Grandfather was a Potions Master!” Harry had never pondered on this before, head always stuck with the Dursely’s home.
He shakes his head, not really knowing what to say. Sirius smiles again, chuckling. “It took a little damage during the first war, a small cottage on the property got bashed in. Though the manor itself is in great condition, courtesy of Remus and Y/N.” His eyes have a little twinkle, reminiscing of the manor during his younger years.
His father being a pureblood rarely crossed his mind. Growing up with muggles, he never really registered his family heritage. Some days, he could barely consider himself a wizard, so remembering that his father was a pureblood and what that would entail never crossed his mind.
The boy looks up with a curious look, silently asking for more information. Sirius laughs, amused at his expression, like a little puppy. “You’d have to talk to Remus and Y/N, they’re the ones living there.” Sirius says, then bidding Harry goodnight, going back into their shared room.
Harry, now has forgotten the conversation he eavesdropped on, now completely focused on the thought of a Manor, one his real family had lived in, one where people were excited to finally be able to meet him. Though, only two of the six friends, well technically two friends and one traitor, would have been able to meet him in his teen years. Shuffling to his room, he does his best to not make any noise, it’s late and most Order members are sleeping.
—♡—
The house is bustling with people, most adults on the way to work, leaving the house to the teenagers and the couple. “Y/N, could you call the kids down? Breakfast is almost ready, you know how long they take to come down.” she snickers, bumping her hip into Remus’, a little love tap. Remus laughs, kissing her on the head. Sirius is watching the waffles, given very clear instructions to not burn them.
Y/N calls for Kreacher, being the only person in the house that Kreacher was happy with. “Yes, Mistress?” he asks. Y/N had been sorted into Slytherin, leaving James a little upset, but he eventually got over that. She was in the same year as Regulus, and a Pureblood. They had become best friends, practically inseparable. Kreacher loved her because Regulus loved her, though like a sister.
“Could you be a dear and call the children? It’s breakfast time. Would you like for me to set some aside for you?” She asks. Kreacher has never been accustomed to Y/N kindness, even after all these years. He nods his head shyly, going to call for the children, which he did grovel about.
“That elf could never warm up to me, yet could instantly love you?” Sirius pouts. His two lovers laugh, coming in for a quick group hug. “Guess I’m just better” she teases him. He scoffs, going back to intensely looking at the waffles, still with a pout.
Hermione comes down first, followed by Ginny. They take their seats at the table, waiting for others to join. Y/N pats the girls on their heads, putting plates down and making conversation. A small exploding sound comes from the stairs, revealing two nonchalant twins. She ignores the explosion, accustomed to it by now.
Harry and Ron shimmy down, in a very heated conversation, one only Quidditch could conjure. Kreacher hobbles near Y/N’s legs, sort of like a mean little cat. Remus and Y/N put out the food in serving dishes, leaving everyone to take what they’d like. She gets a small plate for Kreacher, knowing he doesn't like to eat in front of people. Kreacher takes his plate, going off to Orion’s private study.
Y/N takes her seat between Sirius and Remus, serving up a plate of sausage and eggs for herself, a few hushpuppies and a glass of water. She keeps quiet, wanting to observe, though that is quickly thrown out the window as Sirius starts pulling her into conversation.
“D’you remember when Remus got stuck in a tree in 6th year?” Remus goes red and Haya laughs, patting him comfortingly. “How’d you get up there Moony?” He looks away, mumbling. “Can’t hear you Rem~” she teases. He speaks up, “Saw a squirrel and he looked scared..” The table of teens laugh, trying to picture such a shy man going after a squirrel. “And who went after you?” Sirius jests. Y/N raises her hand excitedly. “I had climbed the tree after him, trying to untangle his cardigan from the branches.”
Ginny is the first to speak up, “Was this a regular thing? Chasing after squirrels and whatnot?” she giggles, spooning some yoghurt. “Sirius was always caught by Minnie- Professor McGonagal, always the last one to evade the crime scene, though it was a very valiant effort” Remus feeds them information.
Sirius had always been proud of his pranks, but went red because of the revelations of always getting caught. “Sorry, did you call her Minnie?” Harry jests. “We had overheard it from Dumbledore in fourth year, thought we could tease her with it.” Y/N answers, piling food onto everyone's plate, smiling so brightly it could burn the brightest of stars.
In this house, one that held such painful memories for Sirius, it is this moment where he finally can be at peace in this house. Surrounded by his lovers, by his family, he finally feels like this is home.

P.S: So basically, I burnt out LOLL, I will be trying to post more frequently though c:
“Petunia! Look at my snowman!” A brightly redheaded girl calls out, her nose and cheeks kissed with the winter air. She pulls her elder sister to a newly built snowman, its ice blobs adorned by a carrot the girl had borrowed from the kitchen. Petunia laughs at it, all wonky and lopsided, yet still having its own charm, being that her sister made it.
Their cousin pops out from the snow, covered in it and giggling at her snow angel. “You have to try this out, guys!” Lily and Petunia join her on the snowy hill, throwing snowballs and sharing hot chocolate from their packed thermos.
Walking to the black lake, she sighs deeply, remembering the last time she saw her cousin Petunia, seeing the anger and jealousy in her eyes when it was revealed that she would also be attending Hogwarts, along with Lily. How cruel Merlin had been to her, Petunia had thought.
She sets a thermos of hot chocolate down on the blanket, one charmed against water and to provide warmth. Propping herself against a snow-covered tree, the girl pulls out a sketchbook, taking in her view for a moment. Finally, her eyes set upon a large tree next to the lake, a few students throwing lumps of snow at each other.
She starts off with the background first, wanting to capture the environment around her. The barely frozen lake, the grass covered in a blanket of snow, trees shaking off their coats of snow onto students below.
“That's really pretty.. I like what you did with the tree on the left,” the boy sits down next to her gently, his dirty blonde hair getting in the way of his eyes. “Thank you, Peter! I just can't seem to work out the lake, how do I show that it's ice now?” Peter thinks about this for a moment, pondering on what ice could be represented with.
“What about ice-skating? Put a pair of people skating on it, so then it'll register as ice in your head!” Peter looks over the lake, making a note to ask his friends later to go out for a little skate. “That's brilliant, Peter!” He breaks out into a flushed stare, not quite sure how to respond, nor where to look.
Before he can conjure up a reply, a remarkable head of red appears. “Y/N, Peter, come quickly!” Lily pulls Peter up while the girl goes to pack her things, concerned at the distress in Lily’s voice. “What's happened?” Peter asks as Lily walks briskly, urging them to follow.
“Remus.. he's fallen ill, James said he was in the infirmary!” Her cousin hurries, worry in her tone. Peter looks nervous at this, still following along. “Are you sure? We should bring him something..” Y/N says, worried about her friend.
Lily stops to think for a moment, what could they possibly bring to make Remus feel better? The group had never seen the boy sick before, so they couldn't reference another incident. Though, one thing that could always cheer Remus up was always a bar of chocolate.
Chocolate was like Remus’ girlfriend at this point. Always in his hands, on his lips, sometimes found on his bed! But the three of them didn't know his favourite. To them, it never looked like Remus carried a specific bar of chocolate around, he'd typically buy whatever was on sale or he'd buy the big box of unwanted ones that wouldn't sell.
Thus, he never carried one specific brand or flavour, they were always mixed and matched. In the end, his friends went back to Y/N's dorm to retrieve a chocolate bar her parents had sent. A Lindt dark chocolate bar they had bought specifically when they were in Switzerland on travel.
Now with the Holy Grail in hand, they march to the infirmary, in hopes to check on the boy's well-being. “D'you think maybe it got too cold? The weather has been crazy lately..” Peter asks the girls, trying to find the cause of his friend's illness.
The trio strolled into the infirmary, trying not to disturb the other students who are also here for some form of illness. They spot Remus at the furthest end of the room, surrounded by James and Sirius.
“Rem! Goodness, what's happened?” Lily calls out as they approach the boy. Remus, upon hearing Lily, sits up quickly, he's not supposed to be up at all. James and Sirius try to push him down, telling him to worry about his health.
He looks sheepishly at Lily, then Y/N, Peter had already known as they were roommates. “It's not bad, really! I was out studying in the grass when this huge dog just came at me..” he says to the girls, praying that they'll believe him.
Ever the doting friend, Y/N grabs a washcloth from the table next to him, placing it in the bowl of water and wiping his face gently. “How do you feel, Remus?” She asks quietly, not wanting to make too much noise in case he had a headache.
James puffs, obviously annoyed by the girl even being here, but he doesn't want to make a scene- for Remus’ sake.
Remus melts into her touch, feeling butterflies on his skin from her gentle movements. “I'm alright.. Dog came from nowhere” she nods sympathetically.
Lily pulls the treats from Y/N's pocket, placing it into the injured boy's hands. “We heard chocolate helps when you're feeling unwell. Eat, you'll feel better” Lily teases, something Remus always does when others don't feel well.
He laughs at this, amused and touched by the bar of chocolate, thanking the girls and Peter. He thinks back to the full moon last night, it wasn't as bad as it usually was, and he's grateful for it. Though, he did scare poor Peter when stumbling back into bed.
James, ever the bitter person, but he could never act like that in front of Lily, he tries to be subtle about it. “I think there are a few too many people here, we should start clearing up.” He says, looking at Y/N.
She gets the message, not wanting to fight. So she pats Remus’ head and says goodbye to her friends, telling Remus to get better. Y/N debates on going back to her common room or to the lake again. On one hand, she'd like to be all warm and cosy while reading a little book. But on the other, she's still got that drawing to finish.
Ultimately, she decides on packing a little sandwich from the Great Hall and going back to the lake. She still had her little blanket and thermos, kept it in her bag with her. For a moment, she just lays on the warmed blanket, watching little snowflakes fall. Christmas is coming soon, she missed her family dearly.

"Stop it!" She says to Theaseus, running around the courtyard of Hogwarts. He had been throwing snowballs at her, having the great idea to get her away from her books for a little while.
Newt watches from afar, Leta next to him, observing her two friends. The Lestrange girl sighs, seeing Newt's obvious feelings that he wears on his sleeve. He's practically enraptured by her pink cheeks being cooled by the chilly weather.
"You know, you can't wait forever.." Leta tells him, she's been begging him to make a move on the girl for ages! Leta points at Theaseus, "He may aswell snatch her up, you'll never know, Newt!" She shakes him playfully.
Newt hears her laughter from across the courtyard, a smile playing on his face. The bowtruckle in his pocket, Pickett, blows raspberries at him, teasingly.
"Not you too, Pickett.." he groans, embarrassed by how easily readable he is to his friends. He stares longingly at the girl, wishing it was him instead of his brother having fun with her, being thr cause of her smiles and laughs.
"Newt! Leta!" The girl says cheerfully, approaching the two, snowballs in hand. She gives a cheeky little smile.
"What have you got there?" Let's asks wearily, not wanting to get hit with snow today. The girl reaches out to them, handing thr snowballs over.
"I need your help! We've got to team up on Theaseus!" She says, quickly making more snowballs and putting them into a pile, ready for war. Newt can't help but feel his heart swell just a little bit more.
Leta pulls Newt up, pushing him to the girl gently. She then skips off with snowballs in hand, ready to get a little snowy. Newt is helping make more snowballs, listening to his crush yap.
"And that's why a sphinx cat can get blackheads. I think it's quite marvellous. We never really think that animals have skin like us, as most are covered in fur. Oh, you've got something on your nose.." She chuckles, right before leaning in closely, he can feel her breath gently batting on his face.
She brings her hand up, nudging the small pine needle away, stuck because of the melted snow. Newt, bless his heart, just stares into her beautifully starry eyes. He mutters a very gentle thanks, cheeks reddening.
Luckily it was cold outside, he can just pass it off on the weather. She can't help herself at the sight of Newt, his glossy eyes, red cheeks and nose.
She leans in just a bit further, landing her lips on his. A small peck really, but Newt feels like she's given him the world's biggest collection of Magical Creatures!
Theaseus and Leta, who have called a truce by now, stare on at the two. "You owe me two galleons." The older boy pays up, slamming the coins into her outstretched palm.
"Cheeky bastard"

As The World Caves In
|| (Remus Lupin x Fem!Reader)

Warnings: Angst, a little swearing.
P.S: I woke up and craved angst, but is it angsty enough? Let me know!
“Dovey, have you seen the cardigan I bought last month? I’m sure I put it in the wardrobe..” Remus scratches his head, trying to recount his last use of the cardigan.
He ruffles through the wardrobe once more, grabbing at anything that looks remotely similar to the olive yarn. Abandoning his search within the wardrobe, he sets his sights on the dresser, thinking someone may have folded it away.
“I put it in the drawing room yesterday, thought you might’ve gotten cold,” his girlfriend says from the living room, waiting for him to finish up, checking the watch on her wrist. “Darling, we have to hurry! Dumbledore said this meeting’s important,” calling out to Remus, the arms tick closer to a quarter past 8:00 pm.
Remus grabs his cardigan from the room finally, shrugging it on and meeting her in the living room. “D’you have a tissue? Nose is acting up..” She hands him a tissue from her purse, linking their arms together. “Floo or apparition?” He asks, not sure if she’s up for apparating today. She urges to use the floo, grabbing the green powder.
Arriving at 12 Grimmauld Place, they’re greeted by Lily and James on the stairs sharing a goblet of pumpkin juice. They’re followed by Peter, coming down the fireplace behind them, Sirius popping out from the kitchen. “We’re getting the band back together!” Sirius jokes about, rarely ever having the gang together due to the circumstances.
“Will everyone please make their way to the dining room? There are things needing to be discussed.” Dumbledore calls out to them, feeling as if they were all back in Hogwarts again.
As they make their way, the girl falls behind, a portrait of Regulus Black being displayed in the hall. She thinks back to her best friend, a guilty ache in her chest reverberates around.
“Come on lovey, they’re waiting,” Remus urges her to continue walking, his eyes gazing at the portrait, understanding the grief she felt, pitying the poor boy for his situation. The dining room is filled with a thick, sombre air, no one knowing exactly what would come of this meeting.
Clearing his throat, Albus starts, “It has come to my attention, through a trusted source, that we are in knowledge of a Death Eater hideout. Multiple, in fact. We must act fast, locations and words always changing. Please arrange yourselves into pairs, each pair will be given a location to ambush.”
Picking partners has always been easy for the group, having done this since potions in first year, the Lupin couple pairs up, while James and Lily take each other, leaving Sirius and Peter together. Albus comes around, giving them a piece of parchment with an address and an estimated number of people within the area.
Looking at theirs, the couple are tasked with going off to the Cambridge countryside, followed by an estimation of 3 of the Dark Lord’s followers within the area.
Thanking Dumbledore, they walk back to the living room preparing for their departure. “I’m just heading up to grab something, give me a moment.” She pecks Remus’ lips and goes up the stairs, her feet dragging her to Regulus’ room. She knocks on the door, knowing there will be no response, yet still doing so in respect for her friend.
Entering the room, she looks at the way he left it, knowing he left something in here for her. Before leaving, he left her a letter, meant for her eyes only. It had stated that she was to keep the necklace he had hidden in his childhood room, destroying it when he gave a signal she would know to look for.
She scours the room, lifting the books and looking behind the shelves, shimmying through the wardrobe, pawing under the bed. She finds the necklace in his potions set that had been tucked away in the dresser.
She hurries back downstairs, hiding the necklace under her shirt. “The brooms are ready, we should head there now if we want to arrive before midnight, love.” Remus grasps her hand, exchanging their goodbyes with their friends and telling each other to stay safe, not knowing the next time they’ll see each other next.
They mount onto their respective brooms, slowly picking up their pace, flying gently through the night sky. The couple flies side by side, pointing out small things they pass by. “That star looks like you, Rem!” She says, smiling at him. “How could a star look like me??” He asks, confused by her statement. “It just does, don't question it, love,” her eyes look back up to the stars in amazement, never getting enough no matter how many times she’s done this before.
The pair arrive at a cottage 2 hours later, keeping their heads low and their ears open, hiding within the bushes. Lights are on in the small cottage, low chatter emitting from the window. Remus looks at the girl, signalling her to approach with him.
Getting to the back of the home, they enter quietly through a bedroom window, manoeuvring themselves throughout the house. Finally, they bust into the hallway leading to the living room, wands out and at the ready.
“Look who's come to play! Treasure? What are you doing here? You're wasting yourself away with the Order..?” Barty Crouch Jr, her dear friend whom she hasn't seen since graduation stands in front of her, putting down his wand at the sight of her. Evan Rosier, who had been a part of their Slytherin group is positioned next to him, also lowering his own wand.
“Junior.. Evan? What are you two doing here? Don't tell me you're with him…” The girl slowly walks over to them, Remus grabbing her arm to stop her. “Darling, don't go near them!” She rips her arm from him, her chest heavy with confusion at why she feels this way.
“Where's Reggie? Are you both alright, do they treat you well?” She hugs the two boys, terrified at the predicament they were placed in. One boy being forced into this by his family name, the other joining to spite his father.
“We're okay.. Regulus is okay, should be outside scanning the perimeter, we're just stationed here to keep an eye out. You joined the Order- still with the Lupin boy I see,” Evan speaks up, leaning his head to look at Remus briefly.
“Remus, what are we to do? We can't hurt them..” The girl turns back to her boyfriend, wanting his opinion on the matter, knowing how much she values her friends. Remus sighs, thinking about how terribly complicated things just got. He pinches the bridge of his nose, then inhaling greatly.
“We can’t take them back with us, their mark will haunt them, love. Unless they decide they really want to change, we can't do anything for them.” He tells his girlfriend, trying to work this situation in his head for the best possible outcome.
“I will not leave them, not in his hands. There must be something we can do Rem..” She looks at the two boys. “Do you two truly wish to stay and be a part of the Dark Lord’s mission..? Tell me it isn't true.”
Barty looks at her with guilt in his eyes, “We can't leave, treasure, he'll always find us… we'll be okay, isn't that right Rosie?” Evan assures the girl, not wanting to make her upset.
She grabs onto Evan’s shoulder's, begging him to allow her to take them to a safe house, the thought of her closest friends being a part of something so horrid making her heart squeeze.
Remus looks at his girlfriend, his own heart pouring out for her, still doing his best to think of a way out of this for the boys. At that moment, a green cloud of smoke booms outside, the four of them going out of the cottage in a haste, trying to figure out the source.
A dark mark hangs in the air, meaning only one thing. The appearance of the Dark Lord. In a haste, the girl hands off the necklace to Remus, not giving much time to explain why she has it. She pulls him in for a kiss, one deeper than the couple has ever shared before.
“There isn't much time, Remus. Please understand that whatever I've done, I've done for you, for your own safety. I love you, solely and dearly.. when you look up into the sky, please be reminded of how bright you shine, of how dear you are to those around you. Forgive me for what I have to do. There are letters in my dresser, please deliver them.. I will keep you in my heart, forever and always.”
She doesn't give him any time to respond, kissing him once more and holding him in her arms for the last time. Regulus, hearing the commotion, apperates closer, now seeing the guests they have. There is no time for reunions, instead having to take their sides in the war.
“My my… How cute, a small little gathering of sorts! So sorry to be a party crasher, but it seems that someone isn't supposed to be here..” Voldemort turns to Remus, eyes full of darkness.
“Come my dear, it's time to go.” The Dark Lord holds his hand out for the girl to take. She walks up, looking back to Remus with regretful eyes, tears spilling from them. Barty, Evan, and Regulus follow behind them, needing to leave with their Lord.
Remus calls out, desperate and terrified. Why would his darling girl, his angel, walk away willingly with the Dark Lord? His heart physically clenches, cheeks covered in shed tears, hands trembling and he falls on his knees, the necklace she gave him still in his hands.
The group had apperated away long ago, while Remus still sobs on the grass of the Cambridge countryside, shedding away his cardigan due to the pure panic and heat he felt in his body, trying to relieve some part of him. He racks his mind for anything that had happened within the past few months that could have been deemed suspicious, not being able to find anything.
He stays there for hours, running out of tears at some point, staring at the place he last saw her before they apperated. It's almost dawn now, the sun rising and the wind blowing. He can't bear being here, needing to find his way back.
Grabbing the brooms the two had arrived on, be apperates back to 12 Grimmauld Place, knowing The location like the back of his hand for all the wrong reasons. He collapses onto the couches in the living room, sobbing once more.
“Remus! Remus, what happened? Where is she?” Sirius says, referring to Remus’ girlfriend, noticing she didn't come back with him. Remus sobs even harder into Sirius’ chest, hugging him like a vice.
Remus was the last to come back from the mission, everyone else had finished things hours ago, praying to Merlin for the safety of the Lupin couple. Yet seeing only Remus come back terrified them.
He cries and sobs into Sirius’ chest for a few more minutes, finally calming down enough to say, “She went with them.. with Regulus, Barty, and Evan.. Voldemort took them away.. She walked into his arms!”
Anger overtakes him, how could his girlfriend betray them in such a way, claiming to love him, then walking away with the Dark Lord and his followers. Lily hugs Remus, still not entirely sure what to make out of this.
“Before leaving, she gave me this.. What the fuck do I do with this!?” He cries out, confused, heartbroken, and fuming. Dumbledore takes the necklace to inspect.
“It seems to be a horcrux.. Terribly dark magic. Did she say anything else, Remus?” Dumbledore asks, needing to know the lore behind said necklace. Remus shakes his head, trying to make sense of everything. James supports his friend, holding him as he processes.
“She left letters in her dresser.. I need to go and retrieve them-” Remus is cut off by Sirius, “I will grab them, dresser you said?" The boy heads to the floo, calling out to the Lupin cottage.
Remus, still distraught by the whole situation, feels the need to throw up, cry until he passes out, and curl into a ball and sleep it all away, praying this is some fucked up nightmare.
Sirius is back, five letters in hand, addressed to Remus, James, Peter, Lily, and himself. He distributes it to their respective owners, terrified to read it.
Remus practically rips his letter open, dying for some form of comfort and explanation. It reads:
“To My Darling Remus,
What I have done has hurt you, and I know that no matter what I say, it will never satisfy your heart, so I will explain everything the best I can.
Regulus had always confided in me at school, and I couldn't let the poor boy be alone in his situation. We couldn't help him the same way we did with Sirius, so I made the decision to join in hopes to protect Regulus.
The Dark Lord had figured out my relationship with the Order, demanding I make a sacrifice, or else he'd kill you. I couldn't allow that to happen, you deserve to live a life full of happiness, even if that isn't what you believe.
If everything has gone right, I have given you a necklace. Bring it to Dumbledore, Regulus has explained to me that it's a horcrux, holding a part of the Dark Lord’s soul in it. When destroyed, it will weaken him. Tell Albus that the sword must be pulled.
I need you to understand that what we had was real, and I will forever cherish you. Your laugh, your smile, your books, your cardigans, your moon. I love you, Remus. I love you like the sun loves the moon. I love you like a moth to a flame. Please live your life to the fullest, and don't have any regrets.
Forever, your love.”
Remus shakes, his whole body quivering, her tears drenching his cardigan and his sniffles taking over the room. After gripping his tears back, trying to lock them away behind his eyes, he says to Dumbledore, “The sword must be pulled.”

Child of the Stars
|| (Regulus Black x Fem!Reader)

Main Masterlist
Word Count: 0.7k
P.S: A little blurb I was thinkin of c:
She brushes her nails on his scalp, massaging and scrubbing the soap in. Rinsing out the bubbles, she gives the nape of his neck a nice pull, loosening any tense muscles. His wife wrings out the water from his hair, applies conditioner, and leaves it in for a few minutes.
“Ow! What was that for!?” Regulus holds his cheek, trying to soothe the pinch. She looks at him, ready to beat him with the conditioner still in his hair. “D'you know what Sirius said? He told me he saw you getting ice cream with Draco! You guys went without me..” his wife pouts.
“Really? That's what you're upset over? You were at Lily's place! What was I supposed to do, not get him ice cream??” Regulus pouts back, thankful his wife isn't actually angry. Merlin knows what she'll do to his hair when angry, shuddering at the thought, praying for his precious hair currently in her hands.
She rinses out the conditioner, giving his scalp one final scrub before wrapping it up in a cute pink towel, one she bought to tease him about. “Would it make you feel better if we went out for ice cream?” He kisses her forehead in a means to make amends. She smiles at him, happy and bubbly for ice cream.
“D'you want help drying your hair?” The girl mumbles as she cleans up the huge bowl of water and products, doing this once a week for Regulus. They find that washing his hair is a nice bonding activity to wind down from the week, just basking in each other's presence.
“Could you help, please? My curls look nicer when you do them..” They move to the bedroom, she sits on the edge of the bed while he sits on the ground below her, head facing the other way. “Pass me the creme, darling,” he grabs the dark purple container, opening it for her and holding it up so she can dip her fingers into the product.
Regulus’ head falls gently onto her lap, breathing having evened out, too blissed out to stop himself from falling asleep. His wife chuckles softly, scrunching his hair gently and palming at his nape to help him feel better. She lets him sleep, putting a towel on her thighs to protect his hair.
—♡—
“I'm going to kick your shin if you don't get up from my lap.” Regulus chooses to ignore this threat, instead turning his head around to nuzzle it into her stomach, mumbling incoherent words. “Reggie! My feet are asleep, please!” He relents, just a little bit, standing up by and stretching his back.
“Old man,” his wife mumbles, also getting up to stretch. “You promised me ice cream, you know.” He pulls her in for a sleepy, discombobulated hug, shushing her. “Same place..?” He whispers into her hair, still physically in a different realm. She nods, giving a little kiss to his cheek where she pinched an hour before.
They both grab a coat, not in the mood to change as their coats cover them all the way to their ankles. “It's cold out and you still want ice cream? Truly a well oiled machine, you are” he snickers at her, apperating them to the ice cream shop in Diagon Alley.
Walking in, the smell of handmade waffle cones and sweet cream fill the air, temperature even colder inside. “Oh look, they've got a new flavour!” She points out to the glass divider, a swirly black ice cream with gold shimmers in it. The couple have been coming to the same ice cream shop for a decade, having tasted every flavour, new and old.
Regulus knows that look on his wife's face, having seen it a million times. Turning to the scooper, he says, “Could we get one Black Cherry Cheesecake scoop on a waffle.. and the new flavour- Child of the Stars? in a cup please.” He didn't see the name of the ice cream before, a bit ironic, he thinks.
Serving their ice creams, the boy behind the glass screen rings them up, “11 sickles please,” and Regulus pulls out his membership card, scanning it then paying for his tab. Grabbing the ice creams, they approach their signature table, one the couple have sat at almost every time they come.
Staring at his wife, he can't help but laugh at her expression, clearly confused by the flavour of her ice cream, not being able to place the actual taste. It's days like today that Regulus feels it was worth it, pushing through the hardest of what life had to offer, just to end up back in her arms.

Hii! Can you write headcanons for what it would be like for a female reader to share a dorm with marauders?(since first year) Maybe like girls dorms were full?? I know it makes no sense but I couldn't come up with anything else. Thanks in advance 🎀
This is such a thought though, you're cooking with this one, never done headcanons before, but I hope I can deliver your vision dovey!🥰🫡
Maybe there were too many first year females in Gryffindor, I mean record breaking and they weren't expecting it, so some girls had to be accommodated with the boys
Each dorm had 5 beds anyways, so the marauders were happy to host another person c:
First year would be a little awkward, not used to being co-ed, reader would definitely have her curtains drawn 85% of the time, made her own friends outside of the marauders treating them as roommates rather than friends
Second year is a little better, being now more used to the presence of the boys, maybe warming up to Peter's quiet personality, Remus’ bookworm behaviour, then to James’ happy go lucky attitude, then finally Sirius’ flirting. Being more adventurous and actually hanging out with them outside of their dorm, pulling little pranks here and there
By third year, she'd finally been let in on Remus’ Moony escapades, now an honorary member of the Marauders. This is also when everyone pledges to become animagi for Remus’ sake, telling the reader that she doesn't have to do this with them. She relents, wanting to do her best for Moony! When they all finally complete the animation process, reader finds out hers is a raccoon, earning the name ‘Bandit’, now attracted to anything shiny, like a niffler!
Fourth year is when she starts to realise that maybe there's more to her friendship with the marauders. Keeping her curtains open most nights, reading books with Remus on his bed, often falling asleep there. Listening to Jamie talk about quidditch while she does homework, picking flowers and leaves with Peter, and gossiping with Sirius about McGonagall. Though, she doesn't want to ruin the current dynamic they've got going on, instead, resigning to keeping her feelings bottled
Fifth year has reader in a twist, trying to balance a social life while studying for her O.W.Ls, while also trying to keep her feelings afloat. She spends most time hidden in a corner in the library, a spot none of the marauders are privy to. By Christmas, the boys feel as if they've done something wrong, their best friend and partner in crime won't hang out with them anymore. Before the break, they confront Bandit, needing to repair their friendship before any more damage is done. Confessing her feelings to them in the astronomy tower, she's ready to bolt. Before she can, James pulls her in, expressing that she's not alone in her feelings. Promising to work through a 5 person relationship, they are officially together by the end of the year.
Sixth year comes along, and so do rumours. Hogwarts had never seen a relationship like theirs, confused and oddly weirded out by its nature, turned to bullying the poor girl. She'd often hide out in the dorm after class and before meals, the pressure getting too much at times. Sirius is the one to bash the rumours, standing on the Gryffindor table before Easter break, shouting his undying love for Bandit and the other marauders! The rumours die down after that, and Bandit can finally walk the halls without being ridiculed again.
Last year, seventh year comes, a melancholic air around them, wishing they could spend more and more years at Hogwarts. What will they do after? James wants to be an Auror, Sirius a Quidditch star, Remus an Author, Peter a Herbologist. And reader? She's still trying to figure that out, thus taking all possible courses to help her out later. Most days are filled with endless studying, wishing she knew how to plan her life, yet she still finds time to pull some senior pranks on the younger kids, all harmless and joyful. Graduation comes sooner than expected, eager to see what life will bring across her path.
They all find an apartment in muggle London with the help of Bandit's parents. They had to custom make a bed that would accommodate all 5 of them with much room to cuddle with. James does end up being and Auror, Sirius following suit. Peter is furthering his studies on Herbology and Caring for Magical Creatures, while Remus attends a muggle University for an English degree. Bandit ended up for applying as a Potions teaching assistant back at Hogwarts, her love brewing at the cauldron ♡
I feel like headcanons are supposed to be short, maybe I'm silly *insert that cat voices gif*

P.S: Had a little idea in mind, hope this will come to please c:
“There's an old muggle myth… every star in the sky, no matter how small or large, are people who've passed on in life. I don't think it would be so bad, being a star” The girl says, leaves rustling in the wind around them, the nightly autumn weather nipping at their cheeks.
Regulus turns his head, still laying down on the grass, looking at her with a glint of amusement, plucking a stray leaf that has fallen into her hair. “You're already a star, mon étoile”
Looking back at his life now, Regulus would have laughed in your face had you told him he'd be living in the Welsh countryside after graduation. The thought unfathomable to him, unreachable.
“Darling, can you grab the cherry tomatoes from the garden?” His girlfriend comes out of the kitchen, sporting an apron Hope Lupin had gifted. Regulus looks up from his book, marking the page then heading outside, giving her a quick peck on the cheek on the way to the door.
She fries up his egg, sunny-side up, and sprinkles a dash of asiago white pepper, her secret ingredient. To this day, Regulus has never found out what made his eggs taste so good.
The wavy haired boy returns back a small, hand-woven basket filled halfway with cherry tomatoes. “Could I make you a coffee, love?” he asks the girl, currently obsessed with his brand new Italian moka pot.
She laughs, allowing him a spot on the stove to start brewing his coffee. They rest in easy silence, accustomed to their routine for breakfast. She sets the table with her ceramic dining set, ones she got at the morning market a few months back, decorated with small little snakes.
Regulus sets the coffees at their respective seats, digging into their breakfast. An owl arrives as they dine, pecking at the window. “I'll get it!” The girl brightly says.
Offering the owl a treat, she grabs the letter attached to its leg. “Regulus, love, it's for you” she hands the boy the letter, he wipes his hands in his napkin, opening the letter.
“I've been invited to a ball at Rosier Manor..” Regulus trails off, looking at the date of the ball. “S'for tomorrow!” He jumps up in a panic, briskly walking to his closet.
“What's got you in a hurry?” The girl says, worried he hadn't finished breakfast. He looks back at her, a very rare shyness taking over him. “Not sure if I've got my dress robes..” The girl smiles, going to the spare room.
She hands him one of his dress robes, all washed and pressed, kept in one of those muggle garment dust covers. Regulus thanks his girlfriend, gingerly taking the robes from her and inspecting them.
Evan and Barty always had a tendency to leave things last minute, this invitation obviously one of them. He looks back at the letter, being told to bring a plus one if he wished. Going back to his girlfriend, he asks, “Will you accompany me to the ball?”
She kisses his lips gently, knowing how hard it is going to be for him to see all the Pureblood families again. “Of course, mon ange” Being a Pureblood herself, she knows the pressure he's putting on himself, though her parents were much kinder and more accepting of their move to Wales.
“D’you wanna match? I can finally wear that emerald green dress I bought in Paris!” He looks at her excited state, lazily grinning. Regulus would do anything she'd ask of him, even if it meant his own demise.
“I'll get the green bow tie then.. Oh I should probably owl them back, just to confirm our attendance.” Regulus grabs a quill and sits on the extra desk in the spare room. He hands the letter to the girl, asking if she could send it with their owl.
She pulls him with her back to the dining room, trying to get him to eat again. “Come on love, food's gone cold.. Would you like me to heat it up?” He shrugs it off, saying it's fine and continues to eat his eggs, not wanting to bother his darling girl.
Finishing up her coffee, she says to him, “We should get them a gift! It's rude if we show up with nothing.” Regulus ponders on this for a little while, thinking of the best thing to get Evan and Barty. Finally, he says, “We should make a trip to Diagon Alley.”
After cleaning the kitchen up and fluffing the couch pillows, the two approach the fireplace, grabbing the lustering green floo powder. She goes first, giving Regulus a small peck, then disappearing into the fire. The steel-eyed boy follows her actions, dusting his suit off at his destination.
“So, where are we off to then?” She locks her arms with his, her Mary Jane's clicking as she walks, doll-like. “Well dolly, let's head to the Magical Menagerie. Got a feeling they would appreciate a little pet..”
“Don't they already have an owl? They don't like cats, nor rats, or even bats!” She rhymes on, giggling. Regulus smiles, finding her behaviour quite adorable. “No dovey, you'll see.” He brushes her chin with his rings.
Pulling the girl into the store, they browse around. Regulus already knows what he wants to get for their two friends, but he knows how fascinated his girlfriend gets by animals. “Reggie…look at the cat!” She points towards a tabby orange cat.
“Darling.. you have me! Why do you need another of me?” He pouts, referencing his animagus form, a black cat with steely grey eyes. She chuckles at his oddly jealous stare. “Come on, what are we getting them?” She's curious as to what he has in mind.
He pulls her to the snake pit, pointing at a beautiful black snake. “Behold, the Elaphe obsoleta.. Evan always wanted a snake” Regulus gently picks up the slithering snake, the black bodice wraps herself on his arm, coiling around him.
His girlfriend hums contently, agreeing on his choice. Walking to the counter, the lady packs the snake away safely, providing a small container of snake feed for them. They walk out with the gift, grabbing ice cream before flooing back.
—♡—
“Reggie, darling? Can you tie the strap of my dress?” She calls out to him from the bedroom, voice strained as she struggles to do the bow at the back. Regulus pops into the room, fingers coiling his waves with his favourite curl cream.
He washes his hands in the bathroom quickly, drying them so he doesn't get any cream on her dress. Brushing his nimble hands across her back, sending shivers down her spine. “Behave,” she turns her head into his neck, laying a gentle kiss. He quits his teasing, finally doing up her bow.
He turns her around, gazing at her like a piece of art hung up in a museum, stars painted with precision on the night sky adorned by him, the moon which watches the stars.
Tucking his matching emerald green pocket square, she fans it out elegantly, fixing collar. “Are you going to wear your jewellery? I like the silver chain you put on your trousers.” He chuckles, grabbing the chain from a bowl of his jewellery, clicking it into place.
“Should I wear silver or gold? You're wearing silver, I should wear silver too.. Barty would throw a fit if I wore gold again too!” She grazes her fingers over his beautiful silver rings, stopping at a special one, engraved with the Black family crest.
“Your parents will be there, are you sure you still want to go..? We can always retire for the night, feigning ill,” she holds his hands, wanting to comfort him. Regulus puts on a brave face, tightening his hold on her hands and smiling, “I'll be okay. Knowing Evan and Barty, they'll probably take us away into the forest halfway through.”
She pulls away, touching up her makeup while Regulus grabs the gift, the beautiful Elaphe obsoleta. His girlfriend fixes the little curl on his forehead, then grabs a silver clutch to match with her jewellery and shoes. “Ready?” She grabs onto him, responding, “Ready.”
He apperates them a small distance from the manor, wanting to calm his own emotions before arriving. Sensing this, his girlfriend interlocks their hands, swinging them as they walk. “D'you know what? I think Pandora invited Dorcas, we surely haven't seen Dorcas in a while.. Should invite everyone over soon before we leave for Italy!”
“Oh really? You'd want to house all the Slytherin Skittles and the Marauders in one small cottage in Wales? How'd you think that's going to end up, love?” He snickers, swinging his hand in hers.
They approach the Rosier Manor, knocking on the huge gothic doors, probably built during the Victorian era. They are greeted by a house elf, small and malnourished, terribly afraid by the sheer amount of Pureblood presence in attendance.
She welcomes them in, bringing them to the living room with all the other guests. The couple goes to greet the hosts, Pierre and Seraphina Rosier. “Darling! It is so good to see you, how has it been in Wales?” Seraphina greets the girl, kissing her cheeks and giving her a hug.
“We have been wonderful, Lady Rosier.. Thank you for having us! Goodness the manor looks gorgeous, who decorated?” The girls go off, chit chatting about little pieces of art in the house, leaving Regulus to greet Lord Rosier.
“I assume Evan invited you? Do try to keep yourself straight tonight, I'd hate for your poor girlfriend to be embarrassed by you.” Lord Rosier snarks to the boy, clearly being influenced by Orion and Walburga. Though he seems to have no issue with his date, being that their families are extremely close.
Regulus thanks him for the ‘advice’, walking off to find Evan and Barty to deliver their gift. “Regulus! There you are, you sod! Beginning to think you weren't coming. Poor Barty was sulking! Come in- where's treasure?” Evan pulls him into his room, wondering where his girlfriend was.
“Well ‘treasure’ got locked with your mum looking at a lamp, and I got dunked on by your father!” Regulus sits on the bed next to Barty, holding his head in his hands. “Oh come on, you know how weird my father is with yours,” Evan remarks.
“Hey! Awe- where's treasure??” Barty pouts, looking at the door, hoping Regulus’ girlfriend will walk through. “Your boyfriend's mum.” He says, very deadpanned and tired.
“We brought you a gift.. thought you guys might enjoy it,” Regulus hands off the carrier to Barty, encouraging them to open it. Barty lets out a literal squeal while Evan slowly takes it out.
“Is that a.. are you really gifting us a snake..? That's the most romantic thing you've ever done for us!” Barty teases, faking tears in his eyes. Regulus rolls his eyes and clicks his tongue, secretly enjoying his friend's antics.
In the midst of all of this, someone raps on the door. “Treasure!” Barty jumps onto her like a flying squirrel, giving her a big hug. “Barty! Barty please! I can't breathe,” she tries to escape from his grasps. “Oi Junior! Get your hands off my girlfriend!”
Regulus has to pry him off of the poor girl, being reminded of their years at Hogwarts, looking back at all of the adventures and hardships, now finally feeling like he fit the last piece of a puzzle into his life.

Brand New City
4. Art Is Dead
|| (Marauders Era Characters x Fem!Reader)
Series Masterlist Previous Chapter
Pairing: Marauders Era Characters x Fem!Reader
Warnings: Mean James
Word Count: 2.1k
P.S: I'm sorry it’s been awhile, going through writer's block :c Anywho, let me know what yall think!
“Y/N, darling? You look flush..” Cissa asks her, as the girl is falling into her breakfast. Cissa quickly props her up, feeling her head. “Oh you're going to need some Pepperup Potion, what happened?” The older girl pulls her up and supports her on the way to Madam Pomfrey. She thinks back to last night.
—♡—
Running into James, her parchments and books fly everywhere. “Sorry, let me help you with tha-”, James’ eyes scans over who he bumped into, retracting his helping hand with a disgusted look.
“You look stupid down there, just where you belong.” He says with a sneer, glaring while she picks her books up.
Standing back up with her things in order, she asks, “What is your issue? No matter how nice I am to you, it's like I've cursed your bloodline with the way you're acting!”
“You're my problem! A Slytherin! How could you call yourself a good person being in that godforsaken house? Don't you know what your house is known for? What they did to my family?” He pours out to her, anger glistening on his face.
“I have don't nothing wrong! My family has done you no wrong. You hang out with my cousin for Merlin's sake! Why does my house make me different? Why do the colours I wear change your perspective?” She yells out, pent up anger spilling with every word.
He steps forward, getting in her face. “Your house, your people, hurt my family, my parents! You and your cult of Death Eaters! Have you no shame?” He huffs in her face, pushing her back.
“Well if you haven't noticed, I'm a muggle! Why would I tangle myself in those ideals? You're literally best friends with my cousin, who is also a muggle, if you haven't noticed!” She pushes back, trying to move away from the wall.
In a burst of impulse, James pulls his wand out, “Aguamenti”. A jet of water douses the girl, soaking her to the bone.
Before she can retaliate, the boy runs away, likely back to his common room. The water-drenched girl heads to the Dungeons, her own common room awaiting her after curfew.
Padding her wet feet into the dorm, she keeps quiet, in hopes of keeping her roommates asleep.
She's too tired to run a bath, instead opting to change into her pyjamas and sleep with a tower on her pillow to dry her hair.
—♡—
“Oh look at you dear! Come sit on the bed, I'll fetch something to make you feel better.” Madam Pomfrey instructs, running off to her medicine cabinet.
Narcissa helps sit Y/N down, her shaking and shivering preventing her from denying help. “I'll tell your friend Remus so he can tell your professors that you can't come.” The sickly girl nods haphazardly.
The black haired girl leaves back to the Great Hall, making sure to tell Remus at the Gryffindor table before heading back to her own table.
Madam Pomfrey sends her off with a Pepperup Potion to her dorm, telling her to sleep away the cold.
She wobbles and trips, using the wall as assistance back to the dungeons. Upon entering the common room, it's empty with the fireplace lit. The girl heads up to her dorm, drinking half of the vial.
—♡—
“Well what do you mean she's sick, Remus?” The redhead persists, not noticing any signs of the cold or flu yesterday.
“I'm not sure exactly, one of her friends told me so I could tell the professors, but that's it.” Remus picks up his bag from under the table, waiting for Lily to follow along to class.
“I guess it makes sense why she told you first, you share most classes with her… should we visit her after classes are over?” Lily asks, her eyes glossy, never having seen her cousin sick before.
Remus ponders, wondering if they should give her privacy today. “We'll see after class? Let her rest a bit.” The two part ways to their respective classes, Remus let's Professor Sprout know that Y/N can't attend.
—♡—
Madam Pomfrey had given the girl some Pepperup Potion, sending her down to the Slytherin dorms to get some rest, sending her Professors a notice for her absence. Pomfrey assumed the girl she came with, Narcissa, has already told some friends.
In bed, she feels worse than before, telling herself that you have to feel worse before you feel better, which in hindsight, probably isn't the right mindset. She pulls the jumper tighter, puffing up her blanket more to get some warmth.
She shakes and shivers, restless and hungry, having not eaten as Cissa caught her right before she could grab breakfast when she sat down. That being said, she's too jello-like to fetch any food. Instead, praying that she'll be able to fall asleep soon.
Turning over to the nightstand, the girl rummages through the drawers, hoping to find any muggle pain killers she'd brought with her. Grabbing the case of painkillers and a small vial of night-time cough syrup, she takes it in hopes of feeling a little better, risking the unknown side effects of it being paired with a magical Potion.
Finally, thirty minutes later, the shivering stops and her mind at ease, falling asleep with a jumper on and two blankets resting on her. A dreamless nap overtakes her, soothing the girl mentally and physically.
—♡—
Severus had heard the news from Narcissa, gathered notes for her in the classes they shared, telling himself to visit her after classes are over.
By lunchtime, Remus had told Lily, Sirius, and a boy named Peter who had recently joined their little group of friends. James had heard through Lily, a twinge of guilt was felt in his stomach, seeing Lily worried for her cousin. He stuck to his act as a comforting friend for Lily, not wanting to see her too worked up over it, knowing he caused the girl to feel sick.
Sirius and Lily had shoved small snacks into their pockets, waiting to visit Y/N after class, while Remus took notes for her in class, grabbing a book he thinks she'll like from his collection. The three Gryffindors meet up in front of the Slytherin common room, now a little stumped as they don't know the password.
“What are you lot doing standing like duc- Ow!” Lucius gets a good smack on the arms from Narcissa. “Here to see Y/N? I'll let you in.” Cissa says with a charming smile. She looks to the portrait, “Anguis”, the portrait opens up, revealing the common room.
Cissa drops Lucius at the couch, then looking towards the red-robed kids. “Come on then. I'll take you to our room.” She grabs Lily's hand and walks to the girls dorms, the two boys following suite.
Pushing the door open, the sound of gentle, yet disturbed snoring filled the room, like something was blocking her nose. They pile into the room, approaching her sleeping form. Cissa opens the door, hearing a knock.
Severus walks in, parchments in hand, scanning the room of its guests, eyes landing on Lily. “Oh Severus! It's so good to see you.” The red-head says, not having seen him in a while. The Raven haired boy smiles, then greets her.
“Have you taken notes then? I think you're in some classes that I don't have with her, do you think we could combine notes then?” Remus says to him, seeing the stack of parchments the Slytherin boy carries.
“Some notes are overlapping, but I think we've got everything.” Severus tells Lupin, knowing they have one or two classes together. They sort through both piles, placing them carefully on her desk.
“Do you think we should let her sleep? Don't want to wake her up..” Lily says to Narcissa, wanting her opinion. “Honestly, I think she's slept about three or four hours now.. We should let her sleep more, heard her rustling in bed all night.”
The older girl let's them stay a little bit to leave some snacks for her, Sirius had munched a little through his during class, so it was mainly Lily who put some food on the bed-side table. They leave her dorm, thanking Narcissa for letting them in.
Cissa toddles back to Lucius, “They're not that bad, you know?” The blonde headed boy scoffs, rolling his eyes at her statement, going back to reading his book.
—♡—
Feeling terribly warm, being covered and layers of heat, she wakes up sweating, pulling off blankets and jumpers in the hopes of feeling coolness on her skin. Panning around the room, she spots a bun with some spreads. a teeny jar of strawberry marmalade and butter.
It's just past the evening, still an hour or two before dinner. She gladly takes the bun, not having eaten since dinner last night. As she munches, she looks at the desk, seeing a stack of parchments.
Getting up, the girl surveys the parchments flipping through, obviously being done by two different people. Skimming through the notes and titles, she realises it's class notes. Recognising Severus’ cursive, yet not being able to pinpoint the other person's handwriting, yet still feeling a sense of familiarity.
She goes back to the bed-side table, finishing up the rest of the Pepperup Potion- oddly tasting like strawberry cough syrup.
Bella enters quietly, unsure if the ill girl was still asleep. Gazing at the bed, the curly-haired girl perks up, “Darling, how do you feel? Cissy told me you weren't doing too well..” Y/N smiles, grateful she has people who care, like Cissa and Bella.
“I think it was just a small fever, feel almost better now.. D'you know who left these?” She says, referring to the snacks and parchments. “Cissy said she let your Gryffindor friends visit, plus Severus!” Bella responds, not being in the room when they visited.
The girl hums in acknowledgement, a sort of warmth spreading through her chest at the thought of her friends. Although, the reminder of the red house gives her a bad taste, thinking of how she got sick in the first place.
“What time is it? S'it time for dinner yet?” She pouts, still terribly hungry after munching the small bun. Bella nods and grabs her hand, pulling her to the Great Hall.
—♡—
“Now, you look much better than this morning! Keep this extra potion just in case you feel a little tingle of the cold left, right dear?” Madame Pomfrey hands her a small vial for safe keeping. She thanks the nurse, heading back to her dorm.
Travelling through the halls, a few students still linger before curfew, chit chatting with their friends. Behind her, someone calls out for the girl, “Hey! Did you get the parchments?” Remus, looking oddly dishevelled, says.
“It was you! I did, thank you so much by the way, don't know how I would've know about Uric the Oddball… Are you alright?” She points out how in a hurry he looks.
He shrugs it off, attributing it to a late night jog. “You look much better, glad you're doing well.” Y/N chuckles, thanking him once again for the notes. They quickly catch up about the day, Remus telling her about Sirius’ newest adventures.
Remus looks at his watch, his eyebrows pinching a little, “You better head to the dungeons, curfew is about to hit. Have a goodnight Y/N” Remus quickly says, rushing off.
Confused by his behaviour, the Slytherin instead chooses to think about how he wrote the notes for her.. her cheeks flush pink at the thought! Would he think she's slacking off just because she's sick? How troublesome. She goes back to the dorms, promising herself to study the topics before tomorrow's classes.
Briskly walking back to her dorm, she doesn't want to have another encounter with Potter, fearing he'll make her more than just sick. She ponders on what he said last night. ‘Death Eaters?’ What would make him think that she, a muggle born, would be a Death Eater?
Reaching the common room, she sees Lucius and Narcissa first. Plopping down, Lucius tells her the newest drama of the Slug Club, how terribly artificial the cherry pudding tasted. She laughs, finding his choice of topic amusing.
Spotting a long, raven-haired boy, she greets Severus, thanking him greatly for the potions notes. “S’not like you needed them.” The boy snaps back. In turn, she pats his shoulder, returning to her dorm to get some studying done. He waves her off, going back to his book. But deep down, he feels his head go lighter at her recognition…

P.S: Sorry it took so long, I was a little busy, but I am back! Please enjoy doves c:
“Hey- are these seats taken?” Y/N flits her gaze to the boy in front of her, chocolate cream eyes fluttered at her with hazel lashes glistening from the sun projecting onto his face.
She’s a little confused, as the area of the library she's seated herself at is practically stuffed at the back, near the restricted section.
“No, not at all. You're looking for extra chairs, right?” The boy next to him lets out a muffled chuckle, his midnight curls swirling as he speaks animatedly. “We meant if we could study with you, doll? S'that alright?”
The girl flushes, not realising that they wanted to sit with her, assuming they were just taking some chairs. “Oh! So sorry, yeah of course.” She lets out an embarrassed laugh.
The two boys smile at her, unpacking their things onto the table. “‘D’you hear what happened in McGonagall's class yesterday? Some bloke turned his desk mate into a teapot instead of the spider!” Sirius says, trying to keep quiet as Madam Pince was on his case not too long ago.
“No way! Would have loved to be in that class” Y/N laughs, amused at the story. Remus smiles and shakes his head imagining it, refocusing on his textbook.
“Y/N, could I borrow some ink?” The hazel-haired boy asks. They've fallen into a routine over the last couple of days, Remus forgetting his inkpot during class and always sharing with the girl.
“I've got different colours today! Black, Blue, Red, and Green.. which would you like?” Remus looks at her with a shine in his eyes.
“Could I borrow the red one please?” She hands the boy the red-coloured pot. He dips his feathery quill and starts taking notes, excited at the new colour rather than boring black.
Sirius, also intrigued by the different colours, pipes up. “Is it alright if I could try the green one?” The girl gives him a smile, sliding over the green ink for him.
“Woah! This is so fun, where'd you get these? They only sell black at Diagon Alley!” Sirius asks, hoping to snag a few for himself.
“I got them at a stationary store in London when I got my letter, thought they looked really fun!” The muggle girl says to him, happy that they found her oddly mundane inkpots fascinating.
Both boys hum in acceptance, facing back to their work and making small talk here and there. Remus, halfway through studying, pulls out a muggle book, The Silence of the Lambs.
“Sorry Remus, but is that book the one about Hannibal Lecter?” Remus gives her a cheeky grin, always being a sucker for muggle storytelling.
Sirius at this point in time, has given up on studying, instead putting great effort in making little paper doves. As he folds the wings, a pat on his shoulder brings him back to reality.
“What are you lot doing hanging out with her? Don't you see her robe? Come on, we've got better things to be doing than hanging out with a snake.” James, the boy Lily was always hanging around, said to Remus and Sirius.
“Don't you worry, I'll be on my way.” She says coldly, finally understanding why he was so cold to her. She packs her books in an instant and leaves with a stomp in her step. “Y/N, your inkpots!” Sirius calls after her, being held back by James.
---♡---
‘Why would Lily hang out with a foul git like that?’ She asks herself, unsure if Lily even knows of his attitude. She bursts into the common room, the coolness of the dungeon and the view of the Black Lake sending her a wave of serenity.
“Darling? What's going on?” Narcissa, who was reading in the common room, asked. Lucius, who was sitting next to her on the love seat looking back at Y/N, instantly knew it had something to do with a few Gryffindor boys.
“Your red lions giving you trouble, dear?” He snickers, Narcissa smacks his shoulder, hushing him. Y/N gives him a sarcastic laugh, glaring at him.
“Shut up, Luci!” She picks up a decorative pillow from the couch and chucks it at him. Narcissa giggles at this.
“Let's go to the Great Hall, I'm starving.” She lets out a sigh, tired and hungry from all the studying, having skipped lunch because she was too busy writing a paper for History of Magic.
Narcissa loops her left arm into Lucius’, then loops her right into Y/N's, telling her fiance and friend about the Hufflepuff girl who was being annoying in potions today.
Lucius, ever the drama queen, was gasping and gossiping along with Narcissa. Y/N was just bouncing around as they walked, happy to be out of the library.
“I hope they serve roasted potatoes” Narcissa says as they enter the Great Hall, taking their seats at the Slytherin table. Tucking themselves in, everyone grabs a generous portion of the delicious food that surrounds them.
While she eats, a pair of eyes, or three, stabs into her back. Signalling Lucius, who sat in front of her, he peaks over her shoulder, giving a sneer then looking back at her.
“That red-haired cousin of yours and your lover lions” Lucius snickers, earning a glare from Y/N. “Finish your food before I finish you.” She says, then continues conversation with a Slytherin next to her.
‘What the fuck.’ Lucius thinks, going back to his dinner, sulking.
---♡---
“Cissa, I'm gonna head out for some air.” The girl says to her roommate. Already tucked into bed, Narcissa responds, “Don't get caught by Filch, come back in one piece please” She mumbles, falling asleep.
Y/N tucks Bella in, already snoring in bed, then tucking Narcissa, and carefully escapes the dorms.
Paintings already asleep, therefore no need to be too cautious. The sleepless girl heads up to the astronomy tower, wanting to feel the breeze on her skin without stepping out of the castle.
On her shoulder, a throw blanket to keep her warm in the stoney tower. She sets up ‘camp’ next to the balcony, meaning a blanket and a muffin she snagged at dinner. ‘This muffin mad scrumdili-icious’.
Pulling out a book from her robe, opening to the page, which was dog-eared, finding solace in the book. Every so often, she would pause, the night sky captivating her attention.
“That constellation there is called Draco.” She turns back to the entrance of the astronomy tower. The boy with curly black hair greets her, his hair arching the colour of the night sky.
She pats the spot next to her, offering up the blanket to share. He strolls over, plopping down and crossing his legs. “You fond of astronomy?” The girl asks him.
“I'd hope so, being named after a bloody star!” He sasses back, pulling some of the blanket over his legs. “What are you doing up here, dove? Shouldn't you be in bed down in the Dungeons. Mighty cold down there if you ask me!”
She shushes him as she giggles, both of them obviously being too loud for this time of night, past curfew. “Couldn't sleep, needed some air. Shouldn't you also be sleeping? What are you doing?”
The boy dressed in a red and gold sweater pipes down, a gaunt look on his face. “S'nothing, couldn't sleep either.” The boy says, a slight clench in his jaw.
Seeing that this is clearly an odd subject for Sirius, she switches it up. “What's your favourite song?”. Sirius immediately lightens up, sort of like a puppy.
“Definitely Starman by David Bowie! Something about him is so alluring. They both hum the song together, falling into comfortable silence afterwards.
“How's Lily? Didn't get to speak to her today.” The Slytherin girl breaks the slience, missing her cousin dearly.
“She's worried about you, y'know? Always saying how you should eat more and sleep, which I can clearly see now why she says you need more sleep!” He laughs, her heart warming at the thought of her cousin.
Despite being rival houses, she doesn't care about such trivial things. So what if they're different? Just means they're different people with different aspirations, but that doesn't mean they need to hate each other.
“Tell her that I'm okay the next time you see her, I'll try to talk to her tomorrow. It's hard to talk to her with James around, guarding her like a dog! When I get my hands on him I'm gonna..” The girl yaps away about the Potter boy, not impressed with his behaviour.
The boy next to her shares a great bit of laughs at the predicament. “What's that book next to you?” The boy asks, curiosity killing him.
“Oh! It's a muggle book, Pride and Prejudice. Lily recommended it to me, we're supposed to debrief about it next Friday.” She hands him the book, and he inspects the cover.
---♡---
“Severus! Have you seen Nemesis? Need to feed her before class.” The girl runs around the common room, looking for her snake. “I saw her with Lucius, think she's choking him out.”
They look to the stairs where Lucius is rushing down, Nemi on his neck, grasping him like a slinky stuck on itself. “Get. Her. Off.” He says in-between chokes and gasps of air.
Y/N gently takes Nemi back, cooing at her and giggling at Lucius, dishevelled and red for the lack of air. “Let's get you some mice darling.” She heads back up to her room, feeding Nemi and setting her free. Nemi always comes back after classes.
“Come on Severus, we're going to be late to potions.” They hurry to the class, taking seats near the back. James and Lily sitting near the front. Both Slytherins burn holes into the boy's back, though for entirely different reasons.
Slughorn walks in, starting class off with theory, focusing on how Draught of Living Death was first made and how to spot its effects, as well as the cure.
Y/N practically falls asleep on Severus’ shoulder, lesson too long for her taste. With an annoyed look, he takes notes for her, trying to hide her sleeping form with his arm.
“Y/N wake up, he's approaching.” Severus draws out, propping her up. She quickly grabs a parchment and textbook, acting like she was, indeed, studying all along.
See, while Severus covers her notes for her in Potions, she covers notes for him in History of Magic, both forming a non-spoken alliance.
Potions is over and they part ways, heading to separate classes. The day draws on like an endless loop, even lunch didn't feel as fulfilling.
---♡---
Remus stops her as she studies at the library, pulling a chair to the table and sitting with her.
“You left your ink pots yesterday. He pulls them out of his bag, setting them in front of her. She sends him a sweet smile, thanking him for keeping them safe.
Lily comes in tow, sitting next to Remus and pulls out her study materials. “The Herbology test felt too repetitive! Like we reviewed the whole chapter for it to be on literally one plant?” Lily rants, angry she wasted study time on something that didn't need it.
Lily and Y/N catch up, talking about literally anything that comes to mind while poor Remus tries his best to focus, but how could he when the girls are talking about muggle books? It's like his kryptonite!
So, instead of writing for their History of Magic essay, the three spent two hours talking about Romeo and Juliet. Even reciting quotes verbatim just for fun.
Lily and Remus pack up, needing to head back to their common room. They all bid farewell, promising to catch up soon.
Y/N stays back for three more hours, promising to finish the History of Magic essay by nightfall. It's just about 10:00pm, meaning curfew is about to hit.
She packs everything, making sure not to be left alone in the library with Madam Pince. She races down to the Slytherin dorms, only to literally run into James Potter.

P.S: This chapter is unedited, let me know if there's anything that needs to be fixed! Kinda struggling to not use Y/N, so there are a few in there. Anywho, enjoy!
Putting on her new robes, glistening emerald and silver crest, she’s barely slept all night. Feeling the wave of restlessness, she decided to study rather than lay in bed all night after spending an hour trying to fall into slumber. Before leaving the Great Hall last night, First Years were given their Times Tables, directing all their classes for the term. So, she brushed up on her books while Narcissa and Bella slept.
Catching Severus in the common room, they walk to the Great Hall for breakfast together, settling down near the Professor’s table. Her gaze lands on a boy with fluffy hair and circle framed glasses hanging next to Lily. Seems like Lily’s already made a friend. She’s glad her Gryffindor cousin has already made a friend.
Narcissa and Bella plop themselves in front of the girl, grabbing a slice of toast and strawberry marmalade with a side of cream cheese. “Severus, you’ve got Potions and Transfigurations with me, right?”, the boy nods his head as he grabs a bit of his breakfast. Narcissa hums a cheery tune after introducing herself and Bella to Severus.
They pack up, grab their books and head to class. Most classes Slytherins have are shared with Gryffindor, meaning that the two Slytherins sit next to Lily in class. Although, the boy with circle glasses sits next to Lily’s other side, giving her and Severus a nasty side eye. Trying to make the best of this, she introduces herself.
“Hi! Glad to see Lily’s making friends in her house, I’m Y/N, her cousin. What’s your name?”, she puts her hand out for a handshake, only for the boy to eye it and fake a smile. “I’m James Potter. Lily’s better off in our house, unlike you Slytherins.”, and he shakes her hand aggressively. Lily flashes her an apologetic smile, not knowing James was going to say something like that.
Severus gives James a sneer, not liking this new friend of Lily’s. Professor Slughorn walks in, taking her mind off of the strange encounter. Severus and Y/N pair up to work on a basic Cure for Boils potion. They divide the work equally amongst themselves, both measuring the ingredients and doing the actual potion making, unlike other students who each take one job. This way, they both get experience and build a better understanding of the art of potion making.
They finish their potion first, both efficiently and perfectly. Handing it to Slughorn, they earn 10 points each for their effort. With that, they get to leave early. They say a quick goodbye to Lily and roam the halls before their next class. Severus heads to Charms while Y/N heads to Herbology.
In Herbology, she sits next to a Gryffindor as all other seats have been taken. “Sorry, do you have an extra quill? I think I left mine in Charms”, the boy sheepishly asks. She smiles and nods her head, grabbing her extra quill, and they share her ink pot. “Thank you, I’m Remus by the way.”, he says as she hands him the quill. “I’m Y/N, it’s nice to meet you Remus.” She gives him a sweet smile.
During Herbology, they take notes on the different types of creatures they’ll be seeing within the year and are given homework to review them in the textbook. “Here’s your quill back, thank you again Y/N”, he tries to give the quill back. “Don’t worry about it, keep the quill. You’ve got another class after, right? You’ll still need to take notes.”, she says to him, packing her things up and leaves, leaving him with a smile on his face.
She heads off to Tranfiguations, seeing a cat on the Professor’s desk. Thinking it may be Mcgonagal’s pet, she didn’t think too much about it. She sees Lily already sitting, and an empty seat next to her. She sits down next to her cousin. “Lily! Tell me about your first night here? How are your roommates?”, Y/N asks, eager to know about the girl’s time here. “Oh! I got to room with these 4 girls, great girls may I add. But I clicked with this girl, her name’s Marlene. She was telling me all about those chocolate frogs we saw on the train.”Lily tells her, obviously excited. Y/N feels at ease knowing Lily’s doing alright.
The class goes quiet, Professor Mcgonagall’s supposed to be here by now. A pair of boys walk in, James and another boy, the one who smiled at her during the Feast. “Sirius, could you imagine Mcgongall if she caught us late to class already?”, James says to the boy, Sirius, while laughing quietly. In that moment, the cat who sat on the desk, transfigures into Mcgonagall, glaring at both boys. “You ought to know the time now boys! Well go on, get in your seats already.” Y/N and Lily let out hushed giggles, seeing the boys all flustered.
They take the seat in front of the pair of girls. James gives Lily a smile while giving Y/N a bitter look. Sirius instead, gives both girls a smile, turning back to the front. Trying to take notes, her focus being distracted by an odd feeling. Had she done something to offend James? Why was he being so rude to her, yet treating Lily like an angel, they’ve literally just met! But also, Sirius’ hair looks very fluffy, like a cute dog oddly. She breaks out of her odd train of thought, trying to listen to the lesson.
Transfigurations end and it’s time for lunch. Y/N walks Lily to the Gryffindor table. She passes by Remus on the way to the Slytherin table, greeting him and fluttering away. Not seeing anyone she recognises at the table yet, she takes an empty spot next to a few older students.
They don’t really notice her, so she eats in peace and so she thinks about the events of today. The odd behaviour of James, the forgetfulness of Remus, and the questionably fluffy hair of Sirius. She finishes her mashed potatoes and pulls out a book. “What are you reading?”, says a boy with long blonde hair who was sitting next to her. “Oh it’s about Greek Astronomy and Philosophy.”, she responds, peeking out of her book to look at him. He hums in acceptance and carries on with his friends.
On her way to DADA, she feels a little chilly, making a mental note to wear a light sweater tomorrow. She walks into the class and takes a seat in the back. Sirius and Remus walk in, and they sit on either side of her. They greet her and pull their supplies out. “Sirius, was it? Sorry, you’ve just got something in your hair. “, she tells the boy, then grabs a stray autumn leaf out of it. Confirming her earlier suspicions, his hair is indeed very soft and fluffy. Killing two birds with one stone! He thanks her and smiles with a little tinge of pink appearing on his cheeks. She wasn’t sure whether it was out of embarrassment or that he was just flustered.
Remus once again shares her ink pot with her borrowed quill, promising to return it tomorrow. Sirius, who somehow forgot his DADA textbook, shares with Y/N as well. Good thing she was sitting in the middle! The Professor’s voice booming with excitement of the new semester keeps everyone on their toes, getting equally excited. Today though, they only learn theory and manners as not many students have done any spells yet.
The rest of the day goes smoothly, not having any odd occurrences or strange behaviours come about. She heads to her dorm after dinner, telling Narcissa and Bella about her first day and getting their opinion on James’ actions.
“You said you’re cousin’s in Gryffindor, right? Well, maybe he doesn’t like you because you’re a Slytherin, so he’s trying to protect Lily from you? Very odd.” Bella quips, trying to form a reason. The other two girls think about it, that does seem reasonable. She then tells them about the blonde boy.
“Oh that’s Lucius! He’s my fiance, we are to be married after graduation!”, says Narcissa, all giddy and happy. Bella laughs and teases her, and Y/N just takes in the atmosphere, finally feeling like she belongs.

P.S: Feedback is much appreciated, this is just an idea in the works and supposed to be a series. Also, trying to avoid the use of Y/N, unless people would like that, then just let me know! Enjoy c:
“Lily Evans?” McGonagall calls out, the sorting hat waiting. The pure history of said hat dauntingly hangs over their heads. Lily turns briefly to her cousin, smiling wide as her eyes glint at her nerves. “Wish me luck!”, the ginger whispers, walking off to the middle of the Great Hall with a determined look.
Watching her cousin walk down, she swallows down her nerves, for Lily's sake, and focuses on the Great Hall's ambience. The rows of tables, full of students, both new and returning ones with wonder in their eyes and a soft laughter in their conversations, that special bond of their shared magic running through. Zoning back in, she's just in time to catch the Sorting Hat calling out Lily's house.
“Gryffindor!”, it yells out with a bellow in its voice. Gryffindor students break put in applause, cheerful at the new member of the house. The look on Lily's face is one of pride and excitement, hearing stories of great wizards and witches alike coming from Gryffindor. Lily looks at her cousin with a beaming smile as she walks to the table, hoping that she'll join her.
A few students are called after, all being sorted into their respective houses in great cheers. She gets antsy, seeing as the group of first years is quickly diminishing, leaving her and a handful of others left. Waiting for her name to be called out, she once again looks around, this time observing the people and their features.
Scanning the room, she sees a boy with soft curls, hair slowly growing out and his prideful grin as he talks to people around him at the Gryffindor table that he was sorted into. He catches her gaze for a moment, shooting a wholesome smile at the girl, then falling back into conversation. I’d like to be in Gryffindor, she thinks to herself. If not for Lily, then maybe for that boy.
Her trance is broken as she hears her name being called, she gives a quick look to Lily, praying to whatever magical deity that she would be with Lily, so she wouldn't be alone in this new world. Walking up to the seat, she gently sits down, mostly out of awkwardness due to literally everyone in the Great Hall staring at her.
The Sorting Hat is placed on her, and it speaks to her like a second voice in her head. She can feel it poking around the deepest corners of her mind. “Oh yes.. to be in Gryffindor with a family member, but you've got a knack for books and learning. What's this? Much loyal to those around, how very delightful. But the most I can feel is your strive to prove yourself.. A true cunning mind. I know just where to put you!” It says as it leaves her mind, her head feeling less stuffy as she releases a breath.
“Slytherin!” The Hat lets out, an applause erupted from the table next to the stone wall of the Great Hall. Holding back her dread, only ever hearing negative stories of her house, she puts a brave smile on her face, walking to the table as she searches for Lily's eyes once again. She finds the pair of green eyes from the Gryffindor table, Lily's face adorning a congratulating look.
Settling down, she sits next to a boy, Severus, whom Lily had introduced her to a few months ago when they had first gotten their letters. Turns out, he lived in the same city as Lily did, so they had usual meet ups when Y/N's family came to visit. “Nice to see you again Severus, how was your summer?”, She asks him, trying to be a bit social.
He looks at her, a bit surprised to see her in Slytherin, assuming she would be with Lily in Gryffindor. Quickly, he gets over that, sending an acknowledging nod her way. “Summer was fine, I’ve been reviewing the books they told us we needed.” He replied to her. She smiles and gives his arm a pat, knowing that the both of them are rather much more comfortable in their shared silence.
The sorting finishes not too long after, then the food is set out after a quick speech and the wave of a wand from Dumbledore. Rows and rows of chicken and mashed potatoes, along with gravy and a good helping of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding are put out in front of them. Lollies and sweets being passed around to celebrate the new school year. The newly sorted Slytherin girl is entranced by this display of magic- and food, she loves a good roast! Slowly but surely, she digs in, throwing a joke to Severus every once in a while.
Once everyone has been stuffed with the very gluttonous feast, students are following Prefects to their respective dorms. As they pass the Gryffindor first years, Lily grabs the girl into a warm hug as they quickly say their congratulations to each other, then a goodnight as the crowd of students separate them.
Her redhead cousin heads to Gryffindor Tower while she heads to the Slytherin Dungeons under the castle, a bit chillier than upstairs. But she doesn't mind, always preferring the cold anyways. Following other first year girls, she's led to her dorm where her luggage and cat have been placed on a four-poster bed, four others surround it. Her dorm mates come in one by one, introducing themselves and getting comfortable with each other.
She's paired with a few older students, being told that there aren't enough first year dorms. She rooms with a pair of sisters, Narcissa and Bellatrix Black. The girls crack jokes and small stories to break the ice, as they'll be rooming together for the next few years. They tell her that the other two girls pulled out of dorming in the same room as them due to rumours of blood purity.
As a muggleborn, she gets slightly uncomfortable and tries to hide it, in fear Narcissa and Bella might confirm the rumours. “Salzaar! Please don't worry, we aren't like that darling! That's our family.. we don't want to be like that” Narcissa assures her, trying to explain herself without giving too much information out, also scared of her own family.
Bella nods her head, curly hair bouncing about. “Then.. is it alright if I dorm with you both? I know I'm a muggle, but I'm sure I can do a good deal of magic!” The sisters share an amused smile, happy that the first year isn't scared of them.
It's now past curfew and everyone is getting ready for bed, trunks all unpacked and pets all ready for bed. Bidding goodnight to her new roommates, she falls asleep into a peaceful slumber, awaiting the new day.
