Hear me out: Robin Dick would be the biggest Bruceman supporter and shipper.
This boy hates any of Bruce’s love interest with a passion because then his dad guardian spends less time with him and that’s obviously UNACCEPTABLE, SCANDALOUS even, so when rumours start circulating that Bruce Wayne is in a relationship with the Batman, he jumps right on the wagon.
Reporter, thirsty for a story: Mr Grayson what do you think about the rumours that Bruce Wayne is dating the Batman?
Dick: What do I think about my dads you mean? My very married very taken dads? My very faithful to each other plural dads?
He would fuel the rumours both as Robin and as Dick Grayson, punching criminals for talking bad about Wayne enterprises as Robin (“THAT’S MY STEPDADS COMPANY YOURE TALKING ABOUT!”). He would be on online forums all day talking about how Bruceman is the only Batman ship that makes sense and Doxxing people who disagree.
Bruce is so exasperated because this is happening at a time where only Alfred and Dick know his real identity so he can’t even do anything with ANYONE without making either Bruce Wayne or Batman look unfaithful.
Throw Reporter Clark Kent into the mix who has been sent to scope out the Bruceman story, who Bruce makes the mistake of flirting with at a gala. Both Clark AND dick are scandalised.
Dick, making a scene: HOW COULD YOU! BATMAN IS WAITING FOR YOU AT HOME AND YOURE HERE FLIRTING WITH SOME… SOME REPORTER??
Bruce, sighing: Dick-
Dick, tugging on Bruce’s suit and looking up at him with fake tears in his eyes: Dad, are you and dad getting a divorce? :(
Clark, panicking: NO NO THEYRE NOT GETTING A DIVORCE PLEASE DONT CRY
Meanwhile:
Bruce, crying in the corner: he called me dad
He would even go as far as insisting that Robin is his step sibling
Principal: how do you explain that whenever Robin is injured, Dick fails to show up at school the next day?
Dick: Robin and I are twins :) so when he’s injured I’m injured too and we have to stay home together!!
Bruce, whispering: I’m sorry, they’re not really twins but neither I or Bats have the heart to tell hem

Post canon Toph who doesn’t want to go back to her shitty parents so she just decides to stay in the Fire Nation and bum off Zuko’s hospitality.
Zuko’s like no, yeah, I totally get it, and just makes her one of his advisors. At first it’s just so she has a good excuse to stay but after the first meeting Toph storms out shouting about how EVERYONE was lying why would you even need to lie about what kind of tea you want??
Zuko: I mean they’re politicians…..but also who, and when, and in what way
They make a subtle Morse code system so Toph can warn him when someone is lying to him without tipping anyone off that she can sense lies.
Zuko gets a reputation for somehow being both extremely socially inept and yet somehow disgustingly perceptive?? You can’t get ANYTHING by him???

Mariah Carey voice " It's TIIIIIIME"
In my last post, I mentioned how I need to be right headspace to fall into a bok. I do my best to not close myself off on a spontaneous book that came into my collection--there was a hook at one time for me to bring it home.
And thank goddess, I did. Tonight, the first night of (what looks like) a full week of rain in the northeast, I got swept away by Ava Reid's A Study in Drowning. Seems fitting, huh? Especially since I brewed a cup of tea and lit my special occasion candle: Paddywick's Oscar Wilde candle.
I'm only a few chapters in, but I'm excited to keep reading. Which I hope stays with me as I'm getting over a surprise cold that's been knocking me off my feet. (Which really sucks since Dreamlight Valley just dropped a new DLC but at least I'm content to stay cozied up)
What really pulled me was the ASOUE vibe, the out of time feeling. Hopefully I'm not alone in sensing something. Or if i am, at least I can refer to the BFU gif of "I've connected the dots!"
Anywho just wanted to write this before i forgot to.
Happy reading everyone!

October 2024 Reads
It takes a lot of my pride to close a book.
Not closing in the sense of “I can’t read this right now” but to close the possibilities of the book. Almost as if I’m Susan Pensive, trying desperately for the wardrobe to open back in Narnia.
What I’m trying to say is, it takes a lot of pride and energy out of me to DNF. Which is hilarious because the vibes need Goldilocks just right, for me to get really into something.
Like Amazon subscriptions I put on hold, I delay getting into books until I’m in the correct headspace, vibe and craving.
Maybe that’s why I’m finally using this side-blog. Because in the last few weeks, I’ve devoured three novels (well 2 ½ at the time of writing this) and I’m happy. So here’s my recent recap.
Tumblr media
When I realized that Vincent Tirado was coming to the Boston Book Festival, the speed I clicked on the panel details could’ve rivaled the Flash’s. Then the shock when I learned they wrote a new book I haven’t gotten my hands on was deep.
I ran out to get it and finished it in 2 and half days so I could properly explain why Tirado is an immediate buy to all. But to realize they had taken one of my favorite IPs and crafted an eerie thriller that danced on the line of “Is it Supernatural or just Anxiety/Paranoia?”
Going off that last question brings me to “The House Across the Lake”. Riley Sager is that author I read when I need to read an “adult” novel. I try to stay within YA/NA or anywhere that my curiosity takes me. I still remember being hunched over my phone, reading “Home Before Dark” which was my first Sager novel.
There were countless twists, each one kept getting me closer to the edge of my seat and one that had scooting back. But this definitely made my October spooky.
My current read, “Your Blood, My Bones” is an interesting one. This brings me back to how I opened this post. Andrew’s first novel, “The Whispering Dark” lured me in like a Siren singing.
However magical realism/spooky sci fi is difficult to get into. I tried, I think four times to get into the book. It broke my heart, as it adores disabled or differently abled MCs. As someone with mild cerebral palsy, I’m done reading novels with Bella Swan copycats.
I didn’t even realize the author was the same until it arrived. “Your Blood, My Bones” reminded me a lot of “The Raven Cycle” and OTGW which gave me time to shift what I knew and stitch the new to fully visualize the entire novel.
As a teenager who was obsessed with Sarah Dessen’s novels, I love interweaving worlds. All this, to say I’m gonna give “The Whispering Dark” another go–especially now that I get…some of it.
It’s funny, I keep picturing the forest as a shadow puppet version. Think of the 2004 credits of A Series of Unfortunate Events film.
Hopefully this made sense. This is the first kind of actual online presence that I’m attempting.
I can’t promise I’ll keep this updated but I’ll do my best. Knowning me, this is gonna be a rant/vent blog with reviews sprinkled in.
(Primarily since everyone else in my immediate life to too busy for me.)

Video
youtube
I want all nonblack people to watch this video, especially white people.
This is the best video IMO that displays the depth of what it feels like to be Black in the midst of white supremacy.
This is the rage that burns in so many Black people and eats at us when it is not sufficiently soothed by our self restraint and years of learning to cope with and sit with us. This is the pain that shortens Black people’s very lives, that we smother each day. This is the justified yet unjustly ignored anger we have learned to hold and to aim and to deal with without breaking (too much).
This is the fire that those of you who are just showing up on the scene are learning to sit beside.
When you ask us ‘how we’re doing’, understand that this is the real core of it, every single day, and we have had to learn to laugh, to sing, to dance, to work, to grieve, to heal around heavy, heavy pain. I don’t get the feeling that y’all are expecting nor could you handle if we answered you like this. But I do feel like you should already know how we’re doing: we’re Black.
So y’all, sit with this video for a hot minute.
Kimberly Jones, you are a warrior. I feel every moment of this, every diaphragm flex, every tenuously tempered shout. And I hope that you are taking a break, and experiencing a moment of peace, because you deserve it.
