So, Loki’s change of eye color… it’s leading me somewhere. It’s leading me straight into the secret heart of the Isu. To the place where love, loss and creation blur into myth. I believe it’s a clue buried in plain sight. A shift from Odin’s myth-filtered memory to the real truth of the Isu. And from there… everything changes.
From a Hybrid Outsider to the Nature of Loki’s Children, this is my Scientist!Loki theory. Read on! I believe it makes a lot of sense!!
Important note: This is a fan-made analysis; just my personal theory, not official lore. Almost like a headcanon. You can agree or disagree but if you’d like to discuss it, please keep it respectful.
The Isu Filter and Mythic Distortion
Tumblr media
Whatever visions Eivor sees in ac Valhalla aren’t memories BUT myth-filtered recollections, heavily shaped by Odin’s perspective. This proves Odin’s recollections were biased. It WAS necessary and the only way to help Eivor understand things. So it all transformed technological truths into mythological imagery. In these visions, Loki appears with brown eyes (matching Basim) but in the Isu anomalies he has “light grey” eyes.
Loki as a Hybrid Outsider
Unlike Odin, Loki IS a hybrid (part Juton, part Aesir), which makes him less xenophobic, less racist. (Chances are, Angrboda/Dikastes IS a hybrid too but we’ll talk about her later) Notice that Loki, by nature, disrupts order through the decisions he makes and the chaos he creates. By doing so, he sets the stage for change and that means progress. I believe Odin actually allied with Loki for this very reason. Loki’s conflict is not with humankind but with the oppressive structures of the Isu themselves. This difference explains his compassion and his deep attachment to his “so-called children.”
Yes! So-called. Here’s the most important part!!! The Isu are techno-magician beings and so is Loki.
In one of my fics (Through My Eyes, Through Yours), I once suggested Loki’s children might be machines rather than actual beings. But now, I’ve changed my mind. In Norse myth (filtered memories), Loki’s children are monstrous beings. Fenrir (the wolf), Jormungandr (the serpent), Hel (the half skeleton goddess of the underworld) and Sleipnir (the eight legged horse).
In truth, when seen through the Isu lens, I think they were just technological-biological projects created by Loki himself.
For Loki, these were NOT “creatures” but “creations”. He loved them as his children because they WERE his life’s work.
Evidence from Odyssey: The Trials
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In ac odyssey, Kassandra enters a hall filled with mythological beings (Minotaur, Sphinx, Cyclops). These are not divine gifts but failed prototypes/experiments left behind by the Isu. Humans interpreted them as “trials from the gods” but in reality, they were projects set loose on Earth.
By parallel, Loki’s “children” are not literal offspring but his personal projects —misunderstood by others as monsters.
Anomalies and Data Files in ac Valhalla
How do we know that Loki and his collaborator (his wife, Aletheia/Angrboda) weren’t genuinely trying to prevent the Great Catastrophe with their ideas? Perhaps through one of those so-called four “children.” At the same time, other Isu were also experimenting with six or seven different methods and only the last one, the reincarnation project, somewhat worked. I think many of them distrusted Loki’s plans and repeatedly tried to block his progress. That’s why they (especially Odin) constantly sought to destroy or isolate those four beings. Yet Loki continued his work regardless. In my view, Loki truly believed in himself and in his biological creations. He wanted to make them strong enough to stop the catastrophe —to ensure that neither they, nor himself, nor anyone else would suffer. In a way, it feels like there was competition between him and the others. But unlike the rest of the Isu, Loki didn’t see those beings as slaves or tools. While others were willing to treat humankind like mere property, Loki, even in his experiments, seems to have held onto some kind of ethical boundary. That’s exactly why, when Fenrir was wounded by Odin, Loki was devastated, furious, even vengeful. To the point that he chased Odin across the world just to settle the score. Why? Because he believed in his work, in his convictions. Those beings he had created in his laboratory were so precious to him that he called them “family.” (And probably his opponents mockingly used the same word “family” to belittle him.)
Tumblr media
Imagine Loki saying:
“I could have prevented the catastrophe perfectly but you wouldn’t let me, Odin! You destroyed everything I built in the most unethical way possible!”
I even think that in the very first anomaly, the crack in the floor of Yggdrasil’s chamber and the marks we see running along the walls might have been caused by the great serpent, Jormungandr, released at Loki’s command. As if he had set a dragon free. (Considering the fact that it can cause earthquakes…)

Oh, and here’s something interesting from Fulke :
Tumblr media
Aletheia / Angrboda / Dikastes
Tumblr media
Loki’s partner, Aletheia (Angrboda), fought alongside him and died in the conflict with the Isu. Using advanced technomagical methods, Loki preserved her consciousness inside the Staff of Hermes. When awakened, Aletheia admits “I feel nothing”, showing she retains awareness but has lost her biological self.
Honestly, the way she exists now makes me think a lot of Miss Minutes :
Tumblr media
Since she’s basically a holographic construct with no emotions, she really comes off like an artificial intelligence (like Miss Minutes) living in the hands of present-day Basim. They both serve as a bridge between the human world and the Isu technology / the hidden reality. I think the difference in assassin’s creed is that this ai carries a personal tragedy; it was once alive, it was Loki’s lover and now it exists only as data and consciousness. But don’t get me wrong. As a fan, I really wanna see Aletheia and Loki somehow restore their bodies and be together again. I’ve always said this but now Aletheia and Miss Minutis exist only as consciousnesses. It’s just the current situation that makes me think that way.
So what remains now is :
Loki = an exiled hybrid, scarred, surviving through the sevenths method, so-existing with Basim.
His projects/children = lost or destroyed experiments, remembered as myth. Maybe they are kept somewhere. Basim just needs to find Loki’s creations.
Basim and Loki = two different individuals. [“My own struggle with Loki was intense but brief, ending with a ... a mutual understanding of who we were.”]
Aletheia = once Loki’s lover, now reduced to an eternal ai companion, co-scientist but no longer flesh and bone or capable of love.
I truly believe that where Odin saw “monsters”, Loki saw “family”.
Where humans saw “trials from the gods”, there were only “experiments of the Isu”.
And at the heart of it all, Loki always remains the tragic figure; the hybrid father who created life, lost it and for now, walks eternity alongside a human host (Basim), with only the shadow of his love at his side.
