Glass artists! Especially new ones just finding their way in-

I beg of you, support people who *know what they are doing when it comes to stained glass*

There’s a massive influx of people selling patterns that are just utter garbage. They’re AI generated, unaltered or changed very slightly, riddled with impossible cuts, structural deficiencies and just wild design choices

What do you do?

Look through a shop before buying! Is the person selling finished pieces? If not, check carefully for any impossible cuts in their patterns. If you don’t know there are plenty of us old people to look at something and let you know. Look for hinge joints (though these aren’t always a sign of AI or a bad pattern- there are ways to fix these) deep concave cuts or tight corners, etc.

If all else fails there are people who will make you a custom pattern, hand-drawn, not generated by a computer that can’t possibly get the physics of how glass breaks.

I don’t want newbies to the art to get frustrated because they’re being sold cheap, shirty, soulless patterns.
