The Batcave has a “Do Not Talk To Me” couch. It’s sacred. It’s unspoken. It’s real.

okay so. picture this:

the batcave has one couch. it's in the corner. it’s hideous. it’s like beige or green or something equally offensive to every one of their aesthetics. no one likes the couch.

and that is exactly why it became sacred.

because one night jason just. drops onto it. full gear. bleeding. absolutely done with life. says nothing. doesn’t even take off the helmet. sits there in silence for 3 hours and then leaves.

next week tim uses it. sits there post-mission. face in hands. someone tries to ask if he’s okay and jason throws a batarang at them.

and thus it began.

Rules of the Do Not Talk To Me Couch:

You sit there? No one speaks to you.

You cry? No you didn’t.

You eat cold noodles off your chest at 4 a.m.? That’s sacred time.

If someone tries to comfort you? They are excommunicated for 12 hours.

Dick (sitting on the couch):

Damian: Grayson, are you—

Jason (from across the cave): HE’S ON THE COUCH.

Jason: I don’t make the rules.

Steph: You LITERALLY made the rules.

Jason: And I am the defender of the rules. There’s a difference.

one time damian storms in. covered in blood. absolutely furious. 10/10 rage goblin energy. throws his sword. marches to the couch. sits. arms crossed. steaming.

tim takes one look at him and goes: “i’m making tea.”

jason: “that’s acceptable. tea is allowed. talking is not.”

bonus:

once bruce sits on it.

and the ENTIRE CAVE goes silent.

tim literally freezes mid-typing. cass stops mid-flip. jason just mutters “oh shit.”

they all leave. immediately.

the couch is not ready for bruce.

extra bonus:

alfred vacuums around the couch. never says a word. leaves snacks in a silent offering. once placed a weighted blanket gently on jason’s shoulder. that’s different. he’s allowed.

The Killing Joke and Media Illiteracy

Alright, let’s get this straight: if you read The Killing Joke and think it’s just about how one bad day can turn anyone into a psychopath, then you’re seriously misreading the entire story.

The Joker argues that everyone is one bad day away from snapping. He tortures Commissioner Gordon to prove his point, paralyzing Barbara, and dragging Gordon through psychological hell. But guess fucking what? Gordon doesn’t break. Despite the worst trauma imaginable, Gordon holds onto his morals, his sense of justice. His response proves that pain doesn’t have to define you. Trauma doesn’t make you a monster unless you let it.

Now, let's take a look at Batman. The Joker thinks trauma makes you lose it, but Batman’s entire existence disproves that. His parents were murdered in front of him, a trauma that could’ve shattered him. But Batman chooses to use that pain for good. He channels his suffering into fighting for justice. Batman proves that you’re not defined by what happens to you; you’re defined by how you choose to respond.

The Joker’s whole point crumbles with Gordon and Batman. The Killing Joke isn’t about fragility; it’s about choice. Both Gordon and Batman show that you don’t have to embrace madness. You can choose to rise above it. So, if you think this story is about how one bad day can turn anyone into a villain, you’re missing the real message. It’s about how pain and trauma don't define you, it's what you choose to do afterward that does.

I have things to say about RTD 2. So I'll do so in list form.

1: I genuinely cannot fucking believe this is the 2nd time RTD has taken a main character who happens to be a POC and fucking sideline them as early as he possibly can

2: I am so tired of the Nostalgia Bait to RTD 1 and so sad that Ncuti didnt fight any of the Main 3 villains.

3: Literally every part of rewriting reality to force a woman to be a mother is awful

4: I think there are some great episodes of this era that get overlooked in these conversations though. Namely Boom and Rogue

5: Wtf RTD why is Rogue STILL in Superhell.

6: Ruby was great ngl.

7: I know this was likely Disney and not RTD but why did we switch to 8 episode seasons. Dr Who is not that type of show. Dr Who is monster of the week with larger arcs being spread throughout the Monster of The Week stuff.

8: Ncuti was amazing, I only wish he had more time.

9: I am so hoping Billie Piper isn't coming back as the Doctor and instead as Bad Wolf somehow

it’s possible that the TARDIS has an auto take-off protocol as soon as the doors close, but i like to think it doesn’t so the Doctor has to manually take off every time. it’s funnier in some scenarios than in others depending on the distance from the door to the console usually, but overall i think it’s funny to imagine the Doctor being so desperate to get out of situations that they close the TARDIS doors calmly and then just flat out sprint to the console and start smashing buttons

Okay, so I know this is probably common knowledge, but God, people who genuinely believe that "All it takes is one bad day" have never: 1 touched a psychology book, 2 touched a book on philosophy, and 3 don't have the media literacy to properly understand the message that that comic was trying to send. I could do a whole rant on that last bit, but nobody wants to hear that.

I am not going to lie to you. When Russell told me that we were putting a ramp in the TARDIS, I cried. I did. He actually told me about a fan who had contacted him, who was a wheelchair user, and said how much he admired Russell’s work. He said, “Even though I can’t get in the TARDIS, because it’s not wheelchair accessible, I just love it.” And Russell was like, “So, we change that instantly. We change that.” When he told me that story, that really hit me straight in the heart.
