there are people in the notes of the teacher crush poll just casually confessing to some of the most psychologically fascinating shit imaginable like it's completely normal to say. got somebody in there saying they never had a crush on a teacher because they automatically hate literally any woman old enough to be their mother. hello.

asking people to be mindful of others when sharing a communal space (especially one you cannot just up and leave from) is not selfish or misanthropic. come on now

Lol I suppose that's true
Yeah that's true. I forgot the timeline of when exactly Caroline left. I suppose we can't blame Hope for bonding with him but we can judge her lol
Yeah for real! And also behind the scenes I assume the actors didn't wanna be in the show full time. It did make them look like they didn't care though so I can't forgive the writers for not thinking of a better reason for that.
Oh my gosh yeah. That would have made more sense if they hadn't dealt with the Hollow yet. Yeahhhhh lol who knows, we know the writers don't really think their lore through all the way and are happy to contradict themselves
What's the weirdest/funniest plot point or line/bit of dialogue in The Vampire Diaries? Bonus if you can give me episode numbers and time codes.
Favourites include whenever they explain a convoluted piece of lore. Can include blatant contradictions of previous lore (explained or unexplained contradictions).
I am making a powerpoint for a friend's powerpoint party and I do not have time to rewatch the whole show (unfortunately).
The powerpoint is going to be a comedic overview of the show.
So I'm going to make a diagram of who has dated who and who is related to who. And then weirdest plot moments and dialogue bits with a lil quiz about what my friends think this character is going to say next.
Currently I've got:
Magic baby 1 (Hope)
Magic babies 2 & 3 (Lizzie and Josie)
The devil and hell
The increasing number of doppelgangers as the show goes on (Amara, Tatia, Katherine, Elena, and then Stefan and Silas right?)
Matt staying human the whole time
So many of the scenes where someone isn't invited in

Lmao these are great especially Dahlia I had not thought that all the way through (like the writers clearly lol)
Damon being a serial killer is unfortunately too close to hey Damon straight up assaulted Caroline and very very arguably also Elena for me personally to include it in a fun PowerPoint night. That's more of an essay that I just have ready to go at all times.
Anyyyway worst part of Legacies for me was Alaric being in charge of the school 😭 Of course this man was putting students in a prison dimension with an uber powerful serial killer! I refuse to believe Caroline or Bonnie would have left him in charge. Or the Mikaelsons?? Why tf would they leave Hope with someone who hated their family??

So I love the idea of hugs but find them really difficult and uncomfortable physically because of my wheelchair and disability. Increasingly now when someone hugs me I become so aware of the limits of my body and it feels like my disability and wheelchair are preventing me from properly connecting to the person I’m hugging.
It’s been getting to me more and more recently, especially as my friends are quite huggy people. I’ve thought of a possible solution, which is to ask people to squeeze my hand instead of hugging me, but I’m worried about that being too weird.
I’m 90% sure I’m overthinking this, and that my friends are my friends for a reason and want to be able to accommodate me and make me feel included. But there’s still that 10% fear that hand holding is more intimate than hugs and I’ll come across as creepy for asking…
So I’d be interested to know if you had a friend who asked for hand squeezes instead of hugs because of a disability if you’d find that weird? Or if you/ a friend is disabled and already do this/ something similar?

believe it or not some female characters don’t have to be mothers. some female characters shouldn’t be mothers. some female characters have a history of expressed disinterest in being mothers. some female characters would have to do a complete 180 in characterization in order to be mothers.

I asked one of my (male) friends to stop using the phrase “man up” and he has been using “fortify” for the past two weeks instead and it’s just a little thing but honestly it makes a difference
and tbh it’s also pretty funny when I start to deflate in the library and he leans over and goes “FORTIFY”

I hate how often some (typically abled) people will go “well, if you can’t [get a specific support], then what?” when it comes to disabilities. As if it’s a “gotcha” moment. And then act like you’re exaggerating when you answer that question honestly.
Disabled people often die from a lack of support. A lot of disability aids are not a luxury, but a basic need in order to live.
“Well what happens if—” people die. People hurt themselves. People hurt others. Disabled people don’t magically become abled if our needs aren’t met.
If a bedbound quadriplegic is caught in a housefire, and there’s nobody there to save them, they’ll probably die. They won’t magically become able-bodied out of sheer will.
If a nonspeaking/nonverbal autistic is denied access to alternative methods of communication, they’ll suffer in silence. They won’t spontaneously become capable of speech.
Disabled people are disabled all the time. Our disabilities don’t go away just because they’re inconvenient, or if we’re in danger.

Just like you do not need to let your phone or computer reach 0% and turn off before you plug it into the charger, you do not need to let yourself reach the point of breakdown and complete exhaustion before you allow yourself a break. It’s okay to take some time to recharge if you’re feeling low on energy - even if you could technically force yourself to continue working longer. So let’s quit showing more compassion towards our phones than we show ourselves!

And no one is ever inherently the victim or inherently the abuser. Everyone has the potential to do good AND to do harm - and yes some labels or experiences can make you more or less likely to face or do harm, but thinking that you are inherently above harmful behavior because you belong to X group while insisting that other people are doomed to be inherently abusive just because they belong to Y group is in fact a harmful behavior by itself

Like whether you were abused by an addict or a narcissist or a schizophrenic, the common denominator worthy of stigma and criticism is still their ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR. You should walk away from it upset with abusive behavior not with everyone with X marginalized identity. The real problem was THE ABUSE not whatever else they got going on

”some addicts abuse people” so do some people with depression. So do some people with EDS. So do some people with OCD or food allergies or arthritis or PTSD or anything you can think of.

This obviously won't fix everything, but one thing that genuinely helps my depression is looking for the next small reason to be content.
Right now I'm indulging in coffee and a bagel.
Sure, it'll be gone in 10 minutes, but that's still 10 minutes of today that I spent knowing that this chive and onion cream cheese tastes bomb.
