Outside Influence: Kid Pix
The abstraction collage piece I had to do reminded me of this.
I think it's because of the space/science-y look. The original illustration had that vibe as well.

Final Reading: Albers
Albers certainly has an interesting way of answering questions. If the interviewer asked about "illusions" in his work, Albers would ask back, "What are illusions?" He would dissect the question sometimes without directly answer it. He talked about how he saw his pieces as "interactions", and not vibrations. It was kind of funny. Not like a hilarious funny, more of a strange funny. It's like he sees a singular question as having multiple answers and paths.

Matisse Podcast
The episode was very interesting! I liked that they got several different opinions on his piece. They discussed what could possibly be the thought process behind slathering on a bunch of red to your piece and completely reinventing it. Did the piece become stale? Was it something he just felt like doing, or was it premeditated? It creates a very thoughtful conversation.

Reading Journal 2: The Elements of Color
This section of The Elements of Color by Johannes Itten covers different ways colors interact. First, it covers contrasting hues, and exercises you can do to experiment with them, similar to what we are doing in class. Then it refers to light and dark contrast, including adding white to make a tint, and adding black to make a shade. It talks a little bit about how different types of international art uses these contrasts, and example being etching. The reading also delves into complementary colors, cold vs warm colors, and various other types of contrast that can be achieved.
