been reading Freud lately, couldn't sleep, and had an imaginary conversation with him abt always sunny. here you go:

me: okay, so, first off, I do not agree with you about penis envy. I do not think it exists in the way you write it

freud: ah, but you regularly dreamt about having a penis as a child, did you not?

me: if I were to take your theory as truth - which I don't, but in this case I will - Dee here has the strongest case of penis envy Ive ever seen.

freud: go on. you say she is close with her father in adulthood?

me: oh no, close would be the wrong word for it. just look at her interactions with her mother, then with other women. there are two episodes that are particularly focused on this aspect, but you might notice that she seems to make an effort to surround herself with blatant misogyny, and happily perpetuates it herself

freud: ah, such is the woman with unresolved penis envy. she hates other women for mirroring what she hates in herself, what her mother failed to provide. she finds pleasure in such disparagement?

freud: she cannot see past her failure to be him. she cannot accept this, and so she cannot be immune to the 'gutter ball', the reminder than her lack of balls means she will always fail at her goals.

me: her brother is why she fails. she's good at bowling! if he wasn't there-

freud: but he's always there, is he not?

me: she keeps him there. always. misogyny is a shroud. if she hates herself and hates women for being women, she can't look at her own self, her personhood, her failures that have nothing to do with her mother or how she was born.

went to my best friend’s house last night and saw a little plushie dog and plushie cat that had been sewn together down the middle into a two-headed chimera. I said, “did you do that?” she said, “yes, I saved them.”

turns out at her old job when the last two plushies hadn’t sold and became deadstock, her boss told her to cut them up and throw them out. so she cut them each in half, preserved their heads, and then rebuilt them together.

cannot stop thinking about the way these little plushies were approached with the instinct of a Vampire or some sort of ancient god. “Let me save you [turn you into a monster].”
