Everyone complaining about amogus in glass onion clearly seems to forget that during covid they along with the world were obsessed with it. This movie is set during the pandemic and shows us exactly how the rich and powerful showed no regard for it (birdie Jay throwing a massive party, miles inviting his friends over to his private island) while benoit had a mental breakdown from being locked inside for so long and his husband hugh grant is stress baking.

*hitting you with a stick* no benoit blanc movies should not interact. they should not lead up to something. you need to detox from the marvel/sherlock bbc poisoning. they should be completely independent movies (maybe w some cameos/little references for fun) and go on for as long as there are stories rian johnson wants to tell in this universe. i do not want an overarching plot i do not want a team up i dont want a benoit-focused prequel i want some good old fashioned episodic murder mysteries that have nothing to do with each other!!!!!!!!!!! also rian johnson has literally said he's not gonna do a prequel and he wants the movies to all stand on their own

addendum 1: by "marvel/sherlock bbc poisoning" i dont mean that those caused this over-serialization, but i think they are partially responsible for why audiences are expecting it. learn to engage w murder mysteries on the genre's own terms

tbh my take on the whole “should batman kill the joker” thing is that batman is a volunteer gig, and bruce is allowed to have boundaries

should *someone* kill the joker? maybe, idk. that’s above my pay grade. but just bc bruce wayne is willing to shoulder the weight of the world (whether anyone actually wants him to or not) doesn’t mean we should all just accept that it belongs to him. he chooses to help in what ways he is able, the ways he can live with, and if killing is the one line he won’t cross no matter what, well, it could be worse. but he has no actual moral obligation to do any of what he’s doing, actually, and if having this one boundary firmly in place is what keeps him from having a mental breakdown and becoming the thing he swore to stop, then i say more power to him and we could honestly all stand to learn from his example

sometimes i mourn that darling was introduced to the series so late bc i desperately want to know what she’d be doing during the earlier episodes. what did she do during the food fight in the day ever after. what did her legacy day outfit look like. what did her THRONECOMING outfit look like. she’s supposed to be dexter’s twin and we literally never even see them speak a word to each other. they were in the same frame TWICE and they’re not even interacting. it makes me sad that we didn’t get to see her flittering around in the background like we do w all the other characters 🙁
