can we just appreciate how harry potter truly gives no fucks?
he will choke you in broad daylight on a public street for stealing something from his dead godfather.
he will beat you bloody, again in broad daylight in front of his entire team and an entire stadium of people for mocking his best friend.
he will use an unforgivable torture curse on you for spitting on one of the few adults he actually respects.
he will laugh at and mock and wave at the death eater, who just killed his godfather and is trying to kill him, for how much trouble she’ll be in with the darkest wizard ever for failing to get the prophecy like he instructed.
he will call some random boy’s mother stupid for believing bullshit stated in the prophet.
he will mock the spoiled boy for his father being in jail when it was him that put the boy’s father in jail.
he will also mock the spoiled boy’s mother for her shitty husband being in jail even though he’s the reason her husband is in jail and will also dare her to take a shot at him there and then in a public store.
he will mock his dead father’s friend to his face for trying to be a daredevil like his godfather and leaving his pregnant wife behind.
he will make fun of the same girl for crying because:
1) she thought his best friend of four years was his girlfriend
2) she lost the quidditch match to him
3) her best friend who sold out his illegal resistance group and his best friend put a permanent acne jinx on her best friend
he will send his bitter teacher across the room with a protection spell and treat said teacher like he’s his subordinate.
he will throw a badge at his best friend’s forehead for not believing him and mock him for being jealous of his fame.
he will lie saying his godfather is a convicted murderer to get his abusers to abide his requests.
he will threaten to reveal his identity as a wizard to their guests if they fail to meet his commands.
he will carry out masterful psychological warfare using the memory of his death mother on a member of authority to get what he wants out of him.
harry’s jar of fucks is empty and collecting dust on the shelf. the fucks he gives are buried six feet under with his family. it’s so funny to me when people who haven’t seen the books call movie harry rude or bitchy or annoying because it’s like mate, YOU HAVE NO IDEA. these weaklings would NOT be able to handle book harry.
he’s so iconic.

I will always love you, Harry thinks. You are already a monster.

GLADIATOR EMPEROR!?!?
YESSS!!
This one is exciting, and it may even end up being my next project when I’ve finished my current longfic, we’ll see how burnt out I am! It’s a complete Au, as you can probably guess, of Gladiator Harry and Emperor Tom!!
Here’s the rundown of my notes;
- When Harry is young his parents are killed on accident - the Emperor had ordered a couple killed for treason and the assassin mixed up the names, went to the Potter’s and killed James and Lily, only realising the mistake when Harry began to cry in the other room. He flees and tells Tom who doesn’t really care, just tells him to kill the right people this time. Harry doesn’t find out the truth of this until later.
- He’s sent to his aunt and uncles who begrudgingly house him until he’s around 14, deciding then to sell him instead to the Gladiator training association. Dumbledore is the one to pick Harry up and take him to the centre where he meets a few of the other canon characters (ron, dean, seamus etc) who’ve also been sold or joined up for the money that comes with winning the fights.
- Harry trains up over the years and gets really good, winning local fights and gaining a reputation, bigger crowds and bigger prizes with the more success he has. He’s doing so well that he moves up to the bigger fights which gains the attention of the richer sponsors as well as the Emperor himself who comes to see what all the fuss is about and is infatuated with Harry from first sight (duh)
- Afterwards he approaches Harry and Dumbledore to personally congratulate them on the win, asks for Harry’s name - this is when Tom realises it’s the same boy he left orphaned. oopsie.
- So Harry carries on doing his big fights, and Tom invites him along to his parties and gatherings as he continues to win, wanting to learn more about him and get closer. Despite his better judgement and their roles in life Harry finds himself enjoying Tom’s company, telling him things about his life and creating a bond that grows over each party. They probably share a kiss at some point and it’s all sunshine rainbows.
- UNTIL. Dumbledore, who’s also at every party as Harry’s mentor, is drunk and merry and lets slip to Harry that he’s surprised he and the Emperor get along so well considering it was on his orders that his parents were killed. Harry is of course shocked because he hadn’t know that, betrayed because he’d been starting to fall for Tom and then angry, at himself for allowing the feeling to grow and at Tom for never telling the truth.
- The final fight of the year comes, it’s a huge event and when Harry wins he’s brought before the Emperor and given his prize sum as well as the chance to request anything he desires. Harry asks for a night alone with the Emperor and Tom agrees (obviously)
- Harry confronts him and asks if he’d been playing Harry this whole time, to kill him as well or just as amusement, and Tom who’d had his horny brain turned on thinking he was about to get some, says something about it being a mistake and that the assassin was meant to kill someone else. Harry doesn’t like this answer of course and attacks Tom, blaming him for being behind all of his struggles in life, that he’s owned and tied to the gladiator association and he’s had to see his friends get hurt and die and that he’ll never be free.
- As a half distraction and half apology, Tom offers to free Harry from the property of Dumbledore and the association so that he’s free to do whatever he wants in life, especially seeing as he’d just become pretty rich from his winnings, but ONLY if he’d spend the one night with him as he’d originally requested. Harry sees that this is too good a deal to pass up and though he’s still hurt he had cared about Tom he agrees and they have one long night of nasty emotional love bombing s*x before Harry flees at dawn with his money and freedom (and Tom’s heart)
- For the ending I envisioned years later Tom is driven out of his city by the citizens who are tired of him being the shitty leader he is, so he goes off and finds Harry who’d he’d made sure to keep track of all these years. Harry lives on a farm raising chickens and living in peace as he’s gotten older and he sees Tom all pathetic looking and takes him in, eventually rekindling their relationship on equal grounds at last <3
SO THERE WE GO!! As I said this idea is one I’m super excited about albeit also nervous as I’ve never written anything so historical / action packed before. Even though I’ve spoiled it now completely haha I really want to try and prioritise this idea as my next fic, although I will definitely be pre writing before posting this time 🫠
Thank you for the ask!!

It's always been a little mystifying to me when people treat "mind healing" in the wizarding world as a 1:1 with modern 2025 therapy
like
A society who's medical system appears to be analogous to the 1850s is NOTTTT going to have talk therapists
What we see of mind healers covers a psychiatrist/neurologist field, not a therapist/psychologist field
If they do have therapists, it's going to be a newfangled way of resolving a specific problem (i.e. to prevent obscurial-type development) and the techniques applied would reflect the problem they're attempting to fix
They're not going to have Regular Therapists in this culture.
where are my fics representing wizards sending their families to get some nice ocean air for their health when they start climbing the walls
