Hi, my family got this TV secondhand. It's unfortunately broken, as remote controls simply Do Not Work on it. (It was already not working great but I dropped it on the IR sensor/buttons corner 😅) I'd like to see if I can repair it, but I need to know the model first. The sticker on the back has been peeled off by the previous owners (😡) so I can't just check that.
The screen is about 52 inches and the IR sensor/buttons are bottom right corner. I'm happy to sypply any other information that might be useful if I can.

so, unfortunately i was not able to find more than one source for this. but, i believe i might have found the model number.
this is, i think, a Vizio VX52LF LCD HDTV, i don't have a year for it but this CNET article is dated 2009, so it was released either before or during that year. the link they attached to this article is dead(and the wayback machine doesn't have an archive for this specific listing) but i'm pretty confident, mostly because of this image attached to the article.
Tumblr media
it's got that signature dent in the middle of the silver chassis, and that slightly curved baseplate.
i hope you can get your tv repaired, and please update us if you do! i've honestly fallen a bit in love with this little display(or, big display lol), it looks so awesome!

Horizont 54CTV732TI-21
this was a serious challenge. these TVs seemed to be popular in Belarus and Russia, since theres lots of pictures of them online. the problem with all the pictures on the English internet, however, is that i couldn't find the exact model number. through some sleuthing(and typing in Russian instead of English lol) i managed to find it!
this model seems to be from the early 2000s, since the only listing i can find for this specific model lists it as being from 2002.

PHILIPS 14PT1574/00S
the specific model in the photo is for the pal-b market and only has a scart input on the back, but there do seem to be a few variants with secam/ntsc support sporting composite video inputs on the front. as far as i can tell, this tv was only really sold in the pal/european market. 14 inch screen, color display, teletext support - what more could you want. i really like the look of this one, it's a great example of late 90s blobject design with its imac g3-esque top handle. evidently i'm not alone in appreciating it, since it recieved an iF product design award in 1998.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
from what i can gather it was manufactured from 1998 to sometime around 2005-2006, although that later date might only apply to some of the previously mentioned variants. it came in 4 different colors: silver, blue, champaign (that's how it was spelled in the manual), and green.

huh, you have a really strange one!
i wasnt able to find a picture of the tv itself, just the remotes. i guess your specific tv is a bit rare, or there just isnt that much documentation about it online.
it predates both of my guesses, so i'm guessing that it's an earlier model that looks identical to the other two.
nice tv!

TOSHIBA MV13P3/MV13N3
im a little bit stumped by this one. the P3 was manufactured in 2004, while the N3 was manufactured in 2003. they look practically identical. confusing little beasts.

SYLVANIA Src2113
these were around from about 2001-2003 from my research, and they came in a few different versions that looked almost identical with an extra letter/number tacked onto the end of the model number. i think they're quite cute, for as simple as they are.

TEAC CT-M342-H
these were around in 2000, but i'm not 100% on the exact date of release. i've found manuals online dated May 2000. pretty unremarkable all things considered, but a lovely little machine nevertheless.

top left: JVC VideoSphere 3241
produced from 1970 to the early 1980s, the jvc videosphere is a shining example of "space-age" design: taking clear influence from the design of astronaut helmets. the model 3241 has an alarm clock and am/fm radio tuner in the base, while model 3240 has a plain plastic base. black/white screen.
top right: Panasonic Orbitel TR-005
there's less info out there on this tv, but it seems to be another space-age design tv produced from around 1970 to 1980. it is interesting to note that this tv was rebranded to the "national" orbitel in european markets. black/white screen on this one.
bottom left: Quasar XP1748XH
this tv is a bit more portable than the others in this post: the screen's only around 5 inches across. while i can't find specific years of manufacture for this tv, examples in the wild seem to be mostly mfg'd from 1983-1986. like the vast majority of sub 13-inch crts, this is black/white only. it has an integrated am/fm radio tuner.
bottom right: JVC Video Capsule 3100R
there are conflicting reports on when this tv entered production. some sources say it was 1972, some say it was 79, and none of these cite anything concrete. all that can really be said is that this tv entered the world (in two variants, the R variant shown and the D variant without the am/fm radio tuner) sometime in the 1970s. another clearly space-age inspired shell, with an integrated radio and a 6" black/white display.

Zenith System 3
System 3 seems to refer to many types of TVs from Zenith, but i wasn't able to find the specific model number for this one. i found this 2009 video with the same TV, but they don't show us the model number on it either. or if they did, i didn't see it. the System 3 line ran from about 1978 to the early 1990s.

alright enough people have followed us where we need to make submission guidelines
identifying-tvs-in-posts submission guidelines
you can submit through either the submission option, the ask box, or by @-ing us in a post with a tv you want identified. you can also send us links to posts in the ask box.
we pretty much only identify CRT tvs(unless there is such thing as an interesting looking flatscreen), and our hard cutoff for tvs that we can/will identify is 2015. after that point its all flatscreens in standardized dimensions all with the same look. we cannot track down the exact item number of Boring SONY Flatscreen #294785748634586 for you. im sorry.
before submitting a tv from your personal life, please check the back of your tv first. there might be information on what it is back there, and you won't need our services. you *can* still submit it to us if you find out what it is, if you still want to show us your tv, but please put the model number in the submission if you already know it.
please be kind to any tv you submit to us. tvs are all very very special and none of them are pieces of shit :( we probably won't take your submission if you call it mean names, this is a tv-positivity blog
you can submit computer monitors, and they follow the same guidelines as #2. no flatscreens.
send in more console tvs. those are easy.
extra stuff
what makes you qualified to identify TVs?
Jo’s reason: not to get weird, but im a bit autistic about tvs. theyre one of my hyperfixations and i love them very very much. i am also very good at googling. other than that, i guess im not really qualified beyond having done it for friends for a long while.
Nlo's reason: i'm pretty passionate about vintage tech and a/v gear & i have been consistently decent at finding things for a long time. which i think is a pretty good combination for being decent at id'ing various tvs :D
who are you?
there are 2 of us, mod Jo and mod nlo. Mod jo is the admin of the blog and tends to write shorter posts, and mod nlo tends to write longer posts that are more enthusiastic.
why are some of your posts tagged 'microwaves'?
that is our "original posts"/"not identifying a tv" tag. once, when mod Jo was identifying a 'tv' for a friend, he searched for days upon days, until they both realized that it was in fact not a tv, but rather a microwave taken at a weird angle. since then, he has accepted that sometimes tv's look like microwaves.
who is that woman in your icon?
if you go on wikipedia and look at the article for "television," you will find what you seek.

Zenith B25A74R Console TV
these were made between 1999-2003 it seems, though they look 70s as hell. they seem to have looked the same throughout their whole existence.
