Drabble|My Beginning

My name is Maa-tan Itsuhara. My mom is Korean and my dad is Japanese. I’m 18, Virgo, Blood Type O-. I was born in Kyo-Kaido, which was once just Kyoto and Hokkaido once before.

My father was traveling in Korea before the Tectonic Shift when he met my mom, and once all of that happened, they fled back to Japan, which would eventually become Neo-Nihon. 

During my childhood, I always knew I could sing, and I always did that in my free time. I would sing to make people happy, family, friends or otherwise. This even brought my closest and best friend in the whole world, Shuugo Mitoya. We loved to build things, I didn’t matter what. He would build and I would sing in order to keep peace. It was something good on our own behalf.

But...things got different when we became teenagers.

It wouldn’t take long for me to get discovered, and I took the job to support my parents. I went on to bigger and better things, and unfortunately, I left my best friend behind.

Years passed and I hit the top of the charts for each year of my singing career, but I still felt real empty about it, I loved my job, the fans, and everything, but there was more that I wanted.

So, I made a plan to head home, and everyone was so happy to see me! Mom and dad were proud of how far I came, and Shuugo, he took on his dad’s shop, working as a mechanic. He was a lot different than what I remembered, cold, a bit abrasive, but he still missed me.

We talked, caught up and soon that led to us going over to one of our favorite spots, only to see, something incredibly different. A crashed spacecraft, and inside...this robot.

I’m finally happy to say that I’ve taken on a new career as well as singing. I’m officially a hero of Neo-Nihon!

And to be completely honest?

I love my job!

New tech, huh…Nah, Ryouma wasn’t gonna ask them to do that for him. All he really needed was something that worked, and the Black Getter, or a Getter-1, would do just fine even if all it might have was the built-in weapon systems. He appreciated the offer though, but they might need all that new tech for something else down the line.

“I appreciate the offer, but you might need that ‘new tech’ for yourselves later on; trust me, there’s always something down the line that needs stuff, and saving it now might make your lives easier. For me, if it works, that’ll be enough to bash some heads in and make your lives easier…Besides, it’ll work out one way or another, you know. Things have a funny way of resolving themselves if people keep at it…”

There’s a pause, before Ryouma dons one of his trademark smirks, giving Maa-tan a good view of his pearly whites as he crossed his arms confidently…Yeah, he had a feeling she had it in her to save the world.

“And, besides, I’m pretty sure your story’ll end up going in the books like ours seemed to when everything’s said and done. Hope you, Shugo, and your comrades like being on our level, ‘cause I still don’t know if there’s any exits!”

“Yep! Shugo thinks a lot differently, but I know I’ve got the type of aggro that can even the playing field! As for the level, we’re practically dealing with a rogue armada. Shugo and I have handled lots of them.”

“I mean, it’s not like the forces you fought, but just as similar, without the whole corruption part.”

“I still think the dragon robot would be pretty kick ass.”

An arcade was more of the scene for Shugo, however that was due to her having the idol life and never really having time for things, it was a little too much for her, thus a moment of relaxation and living like a normal citizen was worth the time for her.

She inspected the games carefully, looking over each one for a moment before turning her head towards one of the players, he seemed to be very good at what he was doing...but the game wasn’t what she was focused on.

Oh he was cute!

She began to approach, looking over the game for a moment. “...um...does this have 2-player? If not I can wait for the next free moment.

…That was some pretty nifty stuff, Ryouma had to admit. Sure wasn’t anything he was used to seeing, at any rate. Either way, it sounded like he’d be helping a new generation of good guys soon enough…Hey, maybe he’d manage to learn a thing or two, while he was at it!

And as far as he knew, you were never too old to learn something new.

“Heh, take your time, Maa-tan. Don’t think I’m going anywhere, now. Heh…Still, I guess I’m kinda excited to test my mettle against some new enemies. A good thrill’s always the kinda thing to make my blood pump, you know? And I’ll make sure I pull my weight, too. So, don’t be afraid to have me work for my keep here either, got it? Wouldn’t be fair if I just bummed around all day, and only lent a hand in fights, you get me?

Though…I wouldn’t mind learning a thing or two while I’m here, either. You guys could probably teach me a good bit, and last I checked, there wasn’t a hard stopping age on learning new tricks.”

“Normally it’s Shugo and I going off to fight off the ones trying to invade the area, and so far, Emizle hasn’t found anything.” She twirled a lock of hair around her finger. “If there is a moment where stuff does get dangerous, I think I can get Getter-1 fixed up before we head off. Luckily Shugo is a good mechanic, maybe we can add new stuff.”

“Buuuuut...we don’t gotta add new tech if you don’t wanna.” She shifted her body lightly. “I’m more than happy to just have it patched up and ready to fight.”

“Whoa, are you okay?”

“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?!”

“I told you you’d get sick.”

“How many fingers am I holding up?”

“Wake up–you were hyperventilating, are you okay?”

“It was just a dream, you’re alright.”

“Look at me–you’re safe.”

“Take a deep breath.”

“Are you bleeding?!”

“How’d you get a bruise like that?”

“What happened?”

“Let me help you!”

“Can you hear me?”

“You hit your head pretty hard.”

“Don’t move.”

“I know it hurts, I’m sorry.”

“Breathe.”

Replicate the models? That’d mean they would need to replicate specific features, and probably the power sources, too…But, Ryouma briefly wondered how they’d replicate things like Crowe’s VX, or the Spheres. Were they able to replicate those successfully…?

And, then there were the details about Michiru…Ryouma wouldn’t mind filling them in on that, though he hoped they’d understand that it was just his side of things, and not a totally reliable account of the events surrounding Michiru’s death.

“Well, you guys sound kinda close, don’t you? Like a team or community…Like ZEXIS, if you ask me. Still, if you wanna know my side of things about Michiru, I’ll fill you in, Maa-tan. Let’s just make sure it’s clear that it ain’t the full story, yeah? I can probably help when it comes to Getter Robos, too…So, if that’s fine with you, then we’re good.”

“Of course! I’m more than happy to get the full scoop from the man himself! It would do so much help for the museum. I’d be more than happy to show you to the location the moment I can get the ride.” 

She began to pull out her phone from her pocket, mostly holographic, very advanced technology for someone of this day and age. “I’ll set up the transportation right away.”

She sounded confident, Ryouma had to admit. Maybe there was something she was fighting for, besides helping people? Hell if he knew…He did wonder who this ‘Shuugo’ was, but wrote that off as something he’d likely have answered later on…He did close his eyes, though, as he finally said something.

“…My story, huh? Do they know the part where Michiru died during the testing for Getter Robo G, or how old man Saotome went nuts, and tried to destroy the world over that?” Ryouma paused a bit, knowing he was being…More than a bit unfair to the poor girl, before opening his eyes and taking a breath in.

“…Sorry, that was kinda unfair of me, wasn’t it? Still, I doubt they’d know every detail that happened, unless someone actually had the time to dig everything up and write it down…In which case, I’d have to hand them props for having the time to actually do that. Besides, don’t forget I’m gonna lend you a hand, too…And, if I can be honest? I’m glad what we did to help folks could inspire someone.”

“The details about Michiru were...kind of missed...we’ve got data on Saotome though...and a lot of the others on your team...we’re actually trying to make the biggest addition to the museum, everyone is pitching in.”

“See we gotta try to replicate each model unit like it did in history, holograms just won’t cut it for some of us, so everyone sets up and tries to make the whole thing together. Big things like that bring Neo-Shibuya together, that and the multiple shopping districts.”

There’s no reason to be anxious or hesitant if you want to talk to me. I will happily accept a random starter, or a random tag, or an inbox message! Even if we’ve never interacted or even acknowledged one another, i will still HAPPILY interact with you!

You’re not bothering me. You’re not annoying. You’re not making me uncomfortable. I LIKE to interact with new people, it’s very exciting and fun!

“Wait, hold on a second, there. Did you just say 3,500 years?! I…Holy shit…” Ryouma was really hoping he hadn’t misheard that somehow…That was not something he’d been expecting, to be honest. Even if it wasn’t his world, it was rather mindblowing to hear that large of a number, if he had to be honest…Heh, he could only begin to imagine Hayato’s and Benkei’s reactions, though. But, that also brought some questions to mind for later, though.

Like what the Tectonic Fall actually was, for example…And, more importantly, when had his counterpart been alive, and what did he go through? Maybe he hoped this world never knew the threat of the Invaders…No, this wasn’t the time to think about that, Ryouma noted as he shook his head.

“…Sorry, didn’t expect that. So this place had to be rebuilt, huh? I guess this world’s seen all sorts of disasters, hasn’t it? I hope it’s never had to deal with the things I’ve seen, honestly…It’s not something I’d wish on anyone, no matter what they’d done.”

“Oh yeah, and soon they’ll be gone once Shuugo and I handle the rest of the issues in this world, Neo Nihon is just part of the mountain climb. Shuugo is off handling stuff, so I try my best to keep this area safe.”

She stretched, standing in front of him.

“In fact, it was part of what you and your team did that brought us up. A lot of us know your story.”

Heh. Ryouma had to admit, seeing someone actually excited that he was helping, after so long, was a little refreshing…Though, he didn’t really have a Getter to fight alongside her with, at the moment. At least he might be able to find something here, if nothing else, he mused as a smirk spread on his face.

Hell, if nothing else happened, maybe being here would be pretty fun. If nothing else, maybe he’d actually pick up something from Maa-tan? That’d be an interesting outcome, as far as he was concerned.

“Now, it might be cool and all to have a Getter pilot backing you up, Maa-tan, but I don’t have a Getter on me right now, honestly…Well, if we can get hold of one, though, I’ll be happy to show you a few tricks if something happens. Until then, let’s have that tour while we can. Crowds aren’t nothing new to me; had plenty in Kamina City, so don’t you worry, yeah? Just lead the way; I’ll be following you, don’t worry.”

“Maybe we can find one, there’s a lot of super old mechs at the museum that some people were able to salvage.” She raised her arms, putting her hands behind her head as she walked in front of him. “Before Neo Nihon was remade, there’s been a whole bunch of historical events, like, a whole bunch. Neo Shibuya was one of the areas hit by what a lot of people called the Tectonic fall, but after it’s been able to be fixed, we remade Neo Shibuya exactly like the Old Shibuya used to look back 3500 years ago.”
