it's so baffling to see israel just get away with bombing multiple countries in the name of self defence. as if israel doesn't have a history of targeting hospitals and schools and kindergartens and refugee camps.
i remember when israel bombed a refugee camp last may. they used bombs that could level multiple city blocks on tents made out of tarp sheltering refugees. i remember the outrage and the protests following that.
i wish that people would continue to care like that for gaza again. we cannot become desensitised to genocide because it's been happening for a long time. as a matter of fact, our support for palestinians must increase as the genocide progresses.
i request you to please support a mother and her two young children. the food is expensive and alaa only wants to feed her children. even a small donation will help. [verification]
please donate here

thinking of wyatt callow, reaped at the age of 18, one reaping away from escaping the games. a booker boy who people looked down upon because of the business he found himself in to get by.
he died protecting lou lou, who had the worst odds of winning.
thinking of louella mccoy, only 13, who put her trust only in haymitch as an ally. she didn't even make it past the tribute parade.
the capitol were still able to use her as a pawn, even after her death.
thinking of lou lou, who was just an innocent girl from district 11 - a jane doe with no place to call home anymore. she had no chance of surviving in the games, barely able to communicate.
she died because of one of the few things she could recognise - flowers she remembered fondly from before she was lou lou, that she didn't and couldn't know were poisonous.
thinking of maysilee donner, the meanest girl in the district. she crafted and refined tokens for fellow tributes, even gifting one of her own to louella, because she understood how important appearances are. she wanted to make sure the capitol couldn't pretend they weren't human like they were.
the girl who fought back, verbally and physically, with no hesitation. who kept lenore dove's secret, even from haymitch. a rebel in many ways, just because her insistence on not letting the capitol trample her.
maysilee died bravely, targeted for the very fight she embodied. dying, not alone, but with her new-found brother, making him pinky promise as she did.
thinking of haymitch abernathy, who wasn't supposed to be there. who was forced into the games because he wanted to protect lenore dove, his girl.
the boy who couldn't save his sweetheart, nor her innocent mimic, the booker boy, or the meanest girl in town.
the sole newcomer who only wished to bring the games to a stop, but barely made a dent. each of his attempts at rebellion failing, along with his death wish. even when delivered directly, by way of parachute, a pitcher of poisoned milk, haymitch managed to survive due to his worry for his only ally left.
his selflessness, his rebellion, his compassion only led to him being seen as a rascal who acted mostly in his own interest. it led to him losing everyone, in the arena and at home, unable to save them from a fate that should've been his. snow targeted his family because he couldn't kill haymitch anymore.
the boy that grew up to mentor and lose two tributes every year, losing more of himself each time. until katniss everdeen and peeta mellark were reaped, kids representative of his past (of the covey, of burdock, of lenore dove, and of the privileged maysilee). he was able to save them, and they were apart of the movement that saw his promise to lenore dove was fulfilled.
he spent the rest of his life honoring her memory, caring for geese much like she had, with a new family who saw no more reapings, even on his birthday.

Im gonna be so real can yall actually talk about ways we can support trans women in the UK instead of giving all the attention to fucking JKR. I already know that Harry Poter sucks, I wanna know how to actually HELP people. Something something you have to love the oppressed more than you hate the oppressor

The crux of the anti trans movement is a war on bodily autonomy. They don't want you to have any agency over what you look like, how you dress, who you date, whether to have kids, etc.
They want total control over you. Not just trans people. Not just queer people. You. Everyone.
Trans people are just a scapegoat. They want total control over everyone's self expression. They want the right to mold you into their perfect little cog in their dehumanizing machine.
Happy Trans Day of Visibility. Our rights are your rights. Our destruction is your destruction.

do you think lenore dove wondered where that orange scarf came from?
when her uncles gave her that scarf as she grew older, telling her it belonged to her aunt, did she ever wonder how her aunt got it? did haymitch ever wonder, out of idle curiosity?
did he ever find out that it belonged to the mother of the man who ripped his life apart? that at one point of time, coriolanus snow was a boy in love who gave his beloved a token from his mother?
that the colour of rebellion was once a colour of love?

Man after sotr I have realized I reallyyyyy don’t like how the hunger games fandom discusses the topic of grief. The topic of haymitch and Lenore dove is leaving a very bad taste in my mouth, honestly.
It’s not a bad thing that he’s “hung up on” his first love- certainly not the term I would use but like. Grief is a never ending struggle . When someone you love dearly dies- you will grieve them until you die. It’s the last translation of love- the very last act of loving someone is to grieve them and you get to do that until you yourself pass. It’s not abnormal to hold on to the love you have for someone who left you too soon, it really does not matter that they were teenagers, he will always have love and grief for her. He will always be mourning her- even if he finds new love or not he will always be mourning her. And that is… an extremely accurate depiction of grief imo!
It’s not like. Grief is not a bad and ugly word that means you are feeling badly all the time that you grieve. Some times people don’t WANT to finish grieving,, some people hold their grief very close to their heart.

Lenore Dove and Lucy Gray were cursed from the start. Destined the fall the same fate as in their name song. It was written in the stars for the Covey girls - “The covey used to navigate by the stars long ago.” (SOTR 37)

imagine being haymitch though. imagine being in 13, forced sober for the first time in years, and suddenly, you’re getting your boy back. the one you were so sure snow had stolen from you, like he’d stolen everyone else you’d ever loved. but somehow, by some miracle, your kid is here and he’s breathing and in one piece. imagine how excited you’d be.
imagine how excited you’d be for your (little) girl, your sweetheart of new, who’s about to get her love back. who’s about to experience that same joy you felt for those five minutes you had lenore dove in your arms, before the gumdrops and the poison and everything else came crashing down. only katniss’ joy isn’t going to be for five minutes.
imagine watching as your golden boy runs towards your sweetheart and you’re watching as her arms are outstretched, reaching for him like it appears he’s reaching for her.
now imagine how it must have felt for haymitch to realize the boy’s hands are locking around your girl’s neck and he’s not peeta anymore and this hijacked boy, this lou lou peeta is now strangling katniss. and you’re frozen in place.
just like you were frozen in place decades ago, when the peacekeepers were manhandling lenore dove. you have no choice but to hesitate because you’ve hesitated all your life, and that’s what you do, and once again it almost cost you everything.
once again, hesitating almost cost you your entire family.
no wonder haymitch is so angry all the time.
