I took the lyrics “It’s only culture and it’s more afraid of you than you’re of it!” from the song “Suburbia Overture” by Will Wood, which fits II s4 really well. The words are kind of in a bad order though.

The scene is from when Fan tells OJ, Suitcase, and Cabby about how he isn’t happy in his new job. He doesn’t know what to do in their new society, since he was meant to revolve around II, and their society doesn’t know what to do with him. I was also thinking about the part where they tell him that everyone has had to make sacrifices, and that he’ll get used to it.

II season 4 episode 1 spoilers below

My favorite part of the new episode is definitely either the play they put on for the recommended characters or the OSC song.

I think the play was really interesting, because of the way it portrayed MePhone, and since it showed a lot about how the contestants resent him for what he did. To me, it seems like the play was meant to portray MePhone incorrectly. It was supposed to come across as awkward and insensitive for a few reasons. Most of the contestants only have a vague understanding of MePhone's past, and no one who knows a lot about his past is in the play at all. The recommended characters looked really uncomfortable while they were watching, and all the actors and (in-universe) writers are incredibly biased against MePhone. Walkie-Talkie, Toilet, and Bot especially, since they were the most passionate in their roles, despite seeming like they didn't want to act in the play.

Walkie-Talkie, the narrator, obviously had a whole villain arc to try to kill MePhone, and even though she forgave him at the end of season 3, it seems like she has mixed feelings towards him, especially with the way she says some of her lines, like the one at the end about creating a new society without MePhone.

Also, I feel bad for Toilet. I don't know how they convinced him to reenact the death of his best friend. He was definitely channeling some real anger at the end.

He even broke character to tell Floory, who literally slept through the first half of the play, that he could never replace MePad. This play was NOT helping him grieve MePad's death. He was just reliving bad memories instead.

The most interesting casting choice had to be casting Bot, the one contestant who wasn't created by MePhone, as MePhone.

They have to have experienced so much whiplash. They went from thinking that they were the only contestant who didn't have a life and family to go back to, to learning that their creators and everyone they had ever met weren't "real people" either. And Bot was literally alone during the movie, since everybody else got killed off one by one. They didn't actually know where everyone went during the movie, but they had to have had some conflicting feelings after learning what happened.

They also had the biggest role in portraying MePhone as a bad-behaving child, which is EXACTLY how Cobs saw him. There's supposed to be a parallel between how Cobs saw MePhone and how the contestants currently see him.

There's no way Bot and the other contestants have actually forgiven him. My favorite line from Bot in this play has to be "What kind of a monster creates a whole person just to make them do his bidding?" They obviously are talking about Cobs and MePhone, but not just them.

That's why they were chosen to act as MePhone. They're the most similar to him. Unlike the other contestants, who were created subconsciously, Bot was created on purpose, to fill a role that was already taken, and to help Fan and Test Tube cope with feeling nostalgic about their and the show's pasts. Though Fan and Test Tube weren't making Bot do their bidding, I feel like the comparison is there.

I'm excited to see more with this season, the first episode has a lot of potential, especially if the game ends up failing

II season 4 spoilers below

I have a lot of thoughts about the new episode, but I’m still organizing them

There’s one detail I noticed while rewatching it: nobody has phones. It’s not because they don’t have access to them. We know they can go to Meeple headquarters since they have the hot air balloons, and would remember the way there, since a decent amount of the contestants, as well as Toilet, have already been there.

They could easily go there and have unlimited phones. I think they’ve already gone, since one of the MeTags is with them.

If they didn’t want the Meeple phones, they could have had Test Tube make phones for them, since she made one for Fan, who has it in season 2 episode 17.

And a few of the other contestants, like Bow, had phones the whole time

So, they definitely could have use phones if they wanted to. However, Cabby takes an alarm clock with her instead of wearing a watch (something else Meeple used to make) or setting an alarm on a phone.

I also noticed that Box uses a different device to get messages from other people, like the one where the OSC tells everyone to go to the mansion.

Taco uses the same thing, so the other contestants probably have their own.

I think the reason they don’t use phones is to try to distance themselves from MePhone and Meeple. No one wants to be reminded of him, and they might think this is a step towards leaving him behind permanently. They’re not doing a great job at leaving him behind, since they want to do another competition, but that was at least the intent behind not using phones.

This might not actually be an important detail, but I thought it was interesting. It was subtle, but still meant to be noticed, and I hope it leads to something later on

Object Invasion is actually peak (spoilers ahead for episode 4)

I love the way it's animated, I love all the characters

This scene was AMAZING

Lamp really was sailing the seven seas

And the montage? His life flashing before his eyes? I loved that part too

Their kid designs are adorable. I also noticed that Cakey gets more candles as she grows up. Here she has three, later in the montage she has five, and then she has seven as a adult. I like all the little details in this episode.

I'm glad he's rejoining, he deserves it after his whole journey

I'm excited for the next episode
