I've got a similar headcanon to this.

Dogday and Crafty specifically ran away to escape an arranged marriage. Ironically, they have no idea they were each other's intended spouse and they ended up falling in love anyway.

dogday, crafty and simon are all royalty. What are they doing in critter valley? dogday and crafty ran away to escape the suffocating rules and they miss their parents alot. and simon? he secretly misses his parents too but they kicked him out until he learns to put his ego aside for five minutes.

DD + Crafty wanting to have some freedom for themselves, while Simon has to learn not to be a dick abt his status (popular, rich, cool, etc.)

I can picture it now:

Hoppy and Kickin seeing who can sing better, Crafty keeps getting distracted by the cathedral's architecture, Bubba is agnostic at best, Picky and Maggie snuck in snacks, Bobby can't help but listen to Rabie's gossip, Simon keep flirting with Poe, who just so happens to be one of the two most religious Nightmare Critter, Baba (the other religious NC) currently had Touille in a chokehold in order to shut him up, Allister has fallen asleep, Icky can't get the hang of his Bible, and DogDay is the only one preventing CatNap from gassing the entire building.

Random headcanon time!

CatNap, being the religious friend, takes it upon himself to drag everyone else to church. And DogDay, being a good friend (or boyfriend, if you want), is pretty much the only one behaving himself.

That fits pretty well-
