Pink Pony Club, covered by Orville Peck,
accompanied by the Boston Pops Orchestra
For a while, I've been searching for a decent quality audio of Orville Peck's rendition of Chappell Roan's iconic pride anthem. I do love Peck's wistful and, at turns, gently powerful rendering of what I interpret as a song of joy, belonging, and self-determination. This is the sort of music I wish my younger self had on the radio, when I was struggling with trying to grow into my sense of self and also trying to not become a target for the hatred of others. Things sure were difficult for a young queer me living in a rural town of ~500 people... But I have the pleasure of listening to this music now, and that is a certain gift.
I'll stop my ramble here, and I hope you enjoy this poignant song, and if you're already familiar with Roan's original, I hope this new take by Orville Peck proves to be every bit as beautiful.
#Chappell Roan#Orville Peck#I was so so giddy when I saw Orville Peck today#he was walking his dog so I didn't wish to bother him#but if he could only know what his music has meant to me

A very nice cat just greeted me like an old friend and escorted me from the bus stop to the shop while meowing conversationally and keeping perfect pace with me the whole way which was already incredibly charming but then it also waited on the corner by the shop, shouted to get my attention when I got out, and then chattered away while walking me back to the bus stop and demanded 5 minutes of little cheek scritches before wandering off into the night?? Who was he. Missed connections me 25M you cat of indeterminate age or gender interests nighttime walks do you wanna hang out again some time

I just scoured the web for photos of his tattoos from various angles and I found these two:

That boot on his upper left arm was the one I needed to identify, and in the second, there's the spiderweb on his right elbow...
So--I did indeed see Orville Peck this morning, walking his dog...
What a thing
It appears Orville Peck was in Union Square this afternoon, and I had no idea.
What a thing it would have been to at least have seen him, if not offer my thanks for his work and what it has meant to me.
#why oh why didnt I just approach him for a second#but he was unmasked and with a friend so it didn't seem appropriate#but I'm happy my suspicions are confirmed#you know--being the curious cat that I am

About this post from almost a month ago...
I was out near Union Square again this morning, and I'm pretty certain--not entirely--that he passed me by while walking his dog.
The dog looked similar to the one in pictures he posted last month, and this particular person had a spiderweb tattoo on his elbow, just like Orville Peck, so what else could I conclude?
It appears Orville Peck was in Union Square this afternoon, and I had no idea.
What a thing it would have been to at least have seen him, if not offer my thanks for his work and what it has meant to me.
#I trailed them for a bit trying not to appear creepy#but I cant see without my glasses..#and of course after getting close enough to ask I bitched out#oh well and who knows?

there’s been a really bizarre trend in the past couple years of TERFS/radfems getting pissed off about biology posts. posts about the bilateral gyandromorph cardinal (one half male, one half female), posts about older hens beginning to crow and act like roosters, posts about animals being animals. and it’s hilarious because they interpret these posts as some kind of agenda. no! these are animals not choosing any gender identity or sexuality but being born into bodies they have no control over. weird how that happens in nature huh
#white-throated sparrows are sentimentally special to me#I can still see them here in the city parks which is a real treat#and this news makes me love those little guys even more
