I know everything is shit fucked sixteen ways before lunch time, but it remains a fact that you should not trust anyone who wants you to feel like the whole world hates you all the time. That's a person trying to sell you something, swallow you whole, or bleed you dry. Especially those times when it feels like they're right.

No one wants anything good from you who wants you always feeling scared and hated. They will wear you out and leave you in the bin the second fashions change. Things are extremely high levels of fucked, but you are not hated like that. It's scary and isolating but you are not alone like that. Worst case, come and shiver like a wet dog with me, I won't say anything and we can dry out.

I just had a regular client come in. She's always going through it with something in her life and this time it was her son. He's been an abusive drug addict for 30 years and he's still living with her. He's held a gun to her head, destroyed phones, looted places, smashed holes in her walls and ceilings, threatened her with his suicide to get what he wants, called her all sorts of names, the list goes on. She's tried to give him all the help she can afford to give, financially and emotionally. She said everyone's telling her it's her fault for paying for things for him and giving him a roof over her head still. That she needs to cut him off to get some peace.

She shared these stories with me for 20-30 minutes, crying through them with me offering her tissues. It seemed like she needed someone to talk to more than anything in that moment anyway. And I don't know what I would say regardless. Or any advice I could possibly give. I've been in a similar position with a best friend of mine, years ago. When I finally cut him off, he took his life. I barely kept it together and as soon as she walked away, I stepped away from work and bawwwllled in a bathroom stall.
