I’m currently working on a pharmacy and we have auxiliary labels that we put on prescription vials. These are some of my favourites (though mostly because of the art on the labels)

Yesterday night, I asked my parents to remind me to return The Terror (2018) to the video rental store. This morning I woke up to two — momentarily confusing and concerning — text notifications:

PSA from a pharmacy technician in the US
ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS consult with your pharmacist when you start a new medication. Doctors, especially general practitioners, don't always know the interacts and side effects of medications off the top of their heads but pharmacists do.
Older practitioners especially get caught in their ways and don't realize better alternatives are available. My doctor prescribed me an anti-depressant/migraine prevention drug but didn't realize that in such a low dose it's actually a sleeping aid. I spent almost four years wondering why I was so exhausted until my pharmacist asked why I'm taking sleeping pills.
Google manufacture coupons if you're ever buying a name brand prescription. Sometimes it's cheaper than a generic with insurance. If you have commercial insurance the pharmacy can either run the coupon separately or split-bill it with your insurance, depending on the coupon. There are coupons available for Medicare patients but none for medicaid (that I know of) or Tricare (military insurance).
Specialized doctor's offices like ophthalmologists (eye doctors) usually have samples of topical medications like eye drops and creams. Manufactures give them these samples to pass out to patients. If you can't afford it from a pharmacy, see if the practice will give you a sample.
If a medication is too expensive you can ask the pharmacist if there are any generic/alternative options you could bring up to your doctor on your next visit. Just remember, cheaper doesn't always mean better, some medications don't have genetic versions yet, and not everything has an alternative.
Doctor offices are notoriously slow at responding to pharmacies when we try to contact them. It speeds the process up a lot when patients also reach out.
If you need a medication refiled but are rejected by your insurance because it's too soon, there are overrides available. It depends on the insurance but they'll usually have exceptions for duplicate therapies, vacation, lost medications, incorrect instructions, and other circumstances.
I'll add more if I think of anything I've missed.

title? QD: A Pill Periodical, where i introduce and rate little chemicals designed to look amazing (usually) which are literally guaranteed to all be notably different from one another because they have to be. by law! anyway im bad at this but i do love it so round 2 baby let's goooo

first up, we have another haunting similarity. lets face it, no one needs me to tell them what these pills look like! anyone remotely into pop culture can tell that these bear a striking resemblence to the beloved and universally recognized character from the stars war, good ole Max Rebo! or at least this version of him:

need i say more? 9/10, only cuz the plushie has that missing tenth of goodness.

so i know these look like xany bars but are actually non-addictive anti anxiety johns. cumbersome, dusty, hard as hell to get to sit right in an amber vial but if u can get them in just so, they line up the way id expect carbon to when it forms a diamond. alone, 4/10 but together (and aligned) an easy 8/10.

check out these goopy boys! "ew what are those, they look like little bugs!" says my partner over my shoulder. why, its the omega 3 acid ethyl esters capsules, of course! and they are slippery as they look, to be sure. monsters that they are, doing a 90 day supply can weigh a *lot*. i sort of resent them but im also fascinated by them? 6/9, slippy salamander caps over here

if anyone can tell me what it is about these that makes me anxious, please do. maybe its something to do with color theory... 2/10, looks like what Kylo Ren might take to stay edgy.

speaking of problematic faves! this one goes out to @cedethebees for shape craziness, which earns these puppies 5 points off the bat. on top of that, they share an uncanny texture with phentermine pills in that they look EXACTLY like those minty cube chewing gum with the little blue crystals in them. 7 more points for making me want to eat them more than most pills... sadly we come to the conclusion of the math problem... -8 points for being nothing but a weight loss drug. and yes, my theory is that that is the reason theyre shaped like bones. skin and bone? idk. 4/10. love yourselves, y'all.

now this ones pretty expensive and what better finale for this episode? look. at. those. thingies in there. due to its high cost, we dont keep these around often so its a really nice treat to see them when i can. one day, if i ever drop/damage one, im gonna open it, spill it into the garbage over my fingers, and fulfill some carnal desire on behalf of all the stim people that it may resonate with. 10/10.
well thats the sequel! i have way too many pictures and im gonna reign in the text on the next one, hopefully. gotta work out a good balance between gushing and critique. until next time!
