I like a jealous love interest but it has to be subtle. if the main character mentions their ex and they see a flash of emotion in the love interest's eyes or the love interest sets their glass down too hard that works for me bc it shows that they have feelings about it but they have it together and don't act on it. if the main character mentions their ex and the love interest is like "if I ever meet them I'll tear them limb from limb for having the nerve to leave a gorgeous person like you heartbroken" that sucks to me
