Okay but like ART and Murderbot's friendship has to be so wild from Mensah's perspective.

You basically adopt a feral cat of a person that saved your life and the cat wanders off for a while (and some more exceedingly crazy shit happens to you), but it comes back eventually (and saves you again, lets not ask how a cat can do that and just stick with the metaphor) and things seem to be going better.

Then a moose shows up out of nowhere and kidnaps your cat and your child (and a bunch of your friends and your brother in law). You find out the moose is best friends with your cat and asked it to move in with it. After the whole kidnapping thing that had multiple witnesses.

The moose is exceedingly polite to you. It cleaned its carpets for you.

another relatable thing about Murderbot is it is obsessed with its favorite show (Sanctuary Moon). it has watched and re-watched it so many times, it uses its favorite episodes to self-soothe, it credits this show with being the first thing that "made it feel like a person." Murderbot's identity is as entwined with Sanctuary Moon as a preteen fandom blogger experiencing the drug that is self-discovery-through-media for the very first time. Murderbot is a FAN, okay.

and despite being the pov narrator for multiple novels and novellas, Murderbot never once, not even inside its own head, claims that Sanctuary Moon is a good show.

The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.

Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.

So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.

Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.

I've been thinking that the show will remove/change the stuff with ART doing experimental surgery on Murderbot because while those things would register on a subconscious level in real life they won't on tv, but it occurs to me they could get a lot of humor out of having this big fight about it and Murderbot keeps saying it doesn't want to look more human and then it gives in and then we have this big epic surgery montage of ART's medical drones doing all this work, and when Murderbot wakes up it looks in the mirror like "oh my gosh... I look so different... I barely recognize myself..." and then we the audience finally get a decent look and its like. Gotten a haircut.
