Yes, I’ve decided to step away from writing for Patti LuPone’s characters, and I’ve removed the fanfics I had previously published.

While I absolutely believe that people can separate the art from the artist, I also believe that choice is personal and nuanced. This decision wasn’t made lightly. I’m aware of LuPone’s long history of being outspoken and unapologetic, and I don’t pretend that this is new behavior. But the most recent situation crossed a line for me in a way I couldn’t ignore.

Second, I’ve found myself feeling increasingly disconnected from the fandom space itself. I’ve come across a noticeable amount of AI-generated fic that, to me, lacks the depth and personal effort that makes fanfiction meaningful. It’s made me reevaluate how I want to spend my creative energy — and I’ve decided I’d rather focus on spaces and stories that feel more alive, intentional, and fulfilling.

This isn’t about policing what others enjoy or create. If you still find joy in these characters or that community, that’s valid. I’m simply choosing to move forward in a way that reflects where I’m at right now — and what feels worth my time.

No. This isn’t simply between Kecia Lewis and Patti Lupone or Audra McDonald and Patti Lupone. The way white people are responding to this is the exact reason why. Patti attacked two Black women unprovoked and PUBLICLY. You all are still trying to defend her tone policing Kecia, dismissing Black voices who know more than you, and being just as ignorant as your fav. Kecia and Audra have no one to defend them except for Black people and those who have sense. Black performers have to constantly work harder than their white counterparts and have since slavery ended. And yes. That is relevant to the conversation cuz you know the only way Black performers used to be able to perform? In blackface portraying racist stereotypes or not at all. That is the foundation of the great stages in America like those on Broadway. No amount of your “opinion” matters because an opinion is not fact or the truth. You cannot “it’s my opinion” your way out of racism.
