ᯓ★ Helpless. Thats all you had in mind when you first saw Ellie. The rebel the whole town had spoke about, but you’ve never actually seen her in person. And God, the jaw-dropping sight you had in front of you would leave you praying all day after. Not for forgiveness, but for a chance from heavens to see her once more.
୨୧ warnings : None!! just two cuties :3
notes ! : OKAY I LOVE HOW THE STORY IS GOINGGG!!! LET ME COOK GUYS!!! (sadly no hamilton references in this chapter but please tell me you noticed the earlier ones). Also if you see any grammar mistakes im really sorry!! English is not my first language so bear with me, this is me trying!!
The ribbon you put on your door had hang there for at least few days. You thought of taking it off, worried that one of your sisters will start suspect something. But something about this risky and dangerous move was… intoxicating. Like a sip of poison you took once, and you knew you’d do it again.
It was the middle of the night, when a soft knock on your window woke you up. At first you thought it was nothing - maybe the wind blew too hard, making branches brush against it. But then it came again; three faint taps against the glass. Faint and steady, but intentional.
You sat up slowly, breath caught in your throat, as you turned to face the glass. Your heart pounded as you got up. You knew it was her. Ellie.
You uncovered the window, and the soft moonlight spilled pale silver across your floors. There she was, standing in black coat, with that same look in her eyes that made your heart flutter. The wood creaked slightly as you slid it open, a comforting scent of night and earth swept in the air.
Ellie didn’t speak. She just looked at you, her green eyes staring right into your soul.
“You left it up.” Was the first thing she said. With that same, soft yet husky voice you remembered from that unforgettable night.
You nodded.
“I had some second thoughts.” You whispered, quiet, as if scared of someone else hearing the words that were only ment for her.
“Come.”
One word that made your heart flutter with anticipation. You tip toed to put on some pair of shoes, and a worn out coat that was hanging on the doors of your closet. You took some time with putting it on, trying to make your heart stop pounding so hard.
Ellie reached out her hand, helping you get out the window.
The grass was damp beneath your feet as you landed outside. The air around you felt cool on your skin, but it was the only thing keeping your senses clear. Everything around you felt unreal, like even the universe itself held its breath.
The girl didn’t let go of your hand just yet. Her fingers felt rough, calloused, like she spend more time working outside than holding hands. But it felt so warm around your hand. She held it gently, like she was afraid you might break.
“This way.” She murmured, finally dropping your hand and turning towards the woods. You followed her without any questions.
The forest was quieter than ever. The only thing you seemed to hear was your heart beating so loud, that it felt like it might jump out from your chest. But what you felt wasn’t fear. It was awareness, that whatever you were doing right now, felt dangerously right.
After several minutes of walking, you arrived at the clearing. You and your sister often visited it, but never at night. And it was even more beautiful than in the sunlight.
Tall birches surrounded you, their white bark glowing in the night. The ground was soft moss with fallen leaves on it, and the air smelled like pine and rain-soaked earth.
Ellie stopped and turned around to look at you. You scanned her face, and you had to admit - she looked better than you remembered her. The moonlight caught her features in all the right places. Her jaw was sharp, defined, and a faint scar traced the curve of her right eyebrow - a small, imperfect line that somehow made her even more striking. Her green eyes, earlier so full of quiet deviance, seemed softer tonight. Deeper. You looked into them and god, the sky was the limit. She looked wild and tired, impossibly real.
“I didn’t think you’d come.” She said after a while of silence, weirdly comforting. Her voice low, almost unsure.
You gave her a small, crooked smile. “You knocked. How could I not?”
“That doesn’t mean most girls would come in the middle of the night to meet a girl that they only saw once.”
“Well, I’m not most girls.” you said, surprising even yourself with how steady your voice sounded.
She let a quiet breath. Not quite a laugh, not quite a sigh.
“God, I know.”
Silence again. But it wasn’t awkward, it was filled with tension and anticipation.
Finally, Ellie spoke. “You know it’s dangerous. You know what people would say if they knew.”
You nodded.
“I know.”
She stepped closer, her boots barely making any sound on the forest floor.
“Then why did you come?”
You looked up at her, now closer than she ever were. You could almost feel her breath against your skin. The way the moonlight hit her jaw, at the shadow beneath her lashes, at that small frown she wore like armor.
“Because the only thing that scares me more than being seen with you…”
A pause. A breath.
“…is never seeing you again.”
Her expression shifted slightly. Just enough.
Her hand reached out - slowly, a bit hesitant - and brushed a strand of your hair from your cheek. And suddenly, it was like the world tilted.
You couldn’t breathe - not fully. Your lungs felt too small for the moment, for the way her fingers barely grazed your skin and yet left a trail of fire in behind it. Every sound in the forest disappeared. No rustling leaves, no distant owls, no heartbeat but your own - pounding so loudly you were sure she could hear it.
You felt alive. Seen. Wanted.
And it terrified you. But you didn’t pull away.
“You’re trouble.” she whispered.
“Guess I learned that from you.”
A soft laugh escaped from her mouth. And you instantly knew that was the sound you wanted to keep forever. Not only in your mind, but also in your life.
“It’s not right. What we’re doing. But it feels like it’s exactly what we are supposed to do.” You said quietly, as if worried you’d scare her away.
Ellie’s smile fainted, but she didn’t pull away. It looked like you said what she had in her mind for the whole time, too scared to say aloud. She looked down, eyes flickering between yours and the ground.
“I know.” she said. “And it scares the hell out of me.”
You nodded slowly. “Me too.”
There was a pause. Heavy, but not cold. More like the heavy feeling of knowing that what she was about to do was so wrong, that almost unimaginable. Ellie shifted forward. You felt it before you registered it, like the actions she did were followed by a script you have carried in your chest forever. Her hand cupped your cheek. Careful, testing the grounds she was standing on. Yet, you didn’t pull away. She looked at you again, but this time there was no more armor in her eyes. It was like she didn’t need to put the hard, brave girl face in front of you. You knew she was scared, just the same way you did. You drank the poison from the same bottle.
This time you made the move. You leaned forward, not fast, not sure. Her breath warm against your skin, but you felt it hitch. You stopped right before her lips, giving her the last chance to run away. She didn’t. Instead she leaned in too. And the moment your lips connected in soft kiss, it wasn’t fireworks. It wasn’t perfect. But it was real. And that made it everything.
You stayed like that for a moment. Lips barely moving, just breathing each other in. The kiss was brief, but it lingered on your skin like the memory of the first time you felt alive.
When you pulled back, Ellie didn’t let go of your face. Her forehead rested against yours, and you could feel the tension running in both of your veins.
“I’ve never…” She began, then paused, her voice unsteady. “I’ve never done something like that before.”
“Me neither.” you whispered.
You could hear her swallow.
“I don’t know what I’m doing.” She admitted, eyes still closed. “But I want to keep doing it. With you.”
You didn’t know how to answer that - not without your voice breaking - so you just nodded. One slow, quiet nod.
Her hand landed on the back of your head, slowly playing with your hair.
“We can’t stay long,” she said. “Someone might wake up. You should get back before the lamps are lit in your house.”
You nodded again, but your feet didn’t move.
Ellie looked at you - really looked - and something in her expression changed. Like she’d made a choice.
“I’ll come by again,” she said. “If you want me to.”
You gave her a small smile, already aching at the thought of leaving.
“I’ll leave the ribbon.”
She nodded once. “Then I’ll find you.”
And even as you turned to walk back toward your window, even as the forest swallowed the silence between you, you knew:
This wasn’t the end.
This was only the beginning.

notes ! : This is kinda short sorry!! Pleeease tell me if its good because i really enjoy writing it :)
You couldn’t sleep last night. You fell asleep only for short periods of time, and every time you closed your eyes, you saw her. Ellie.
The room was silent, unlike your mind. Raindrops tapped gently against the windowpane, like quiet thoughts too soft to speak aloud. You could hear every sound coming from outside - every blow of wind, rustling branches of trees. The fire in the fireplace gave you warmth, but it couldn’t hide the unsettling feeling you sensed. You remembered yesterday’s ball. Her gaze, like she knew all your secrets. Her voice, that soft, firm tone, the words she said still lingering in your head. Her subtle touch on your hand, so short, yet so unforgettable. The feelings you had, they weren’t right nor normal. You have never felt like that in your whole live. The warm sensation in your chest, instant flush on face the moment you appeared near her. This isn’t a way you’re supposed to feel about another woman.
Yet, there you were, laying on your bed, amongst the warm covers, after a sleepless night, with thoughts rushing in your head like wild horses.
You sighed and got up. It wasn’t long after that, when you heard a knock on your door.
After opening it, there was nothing more than an envelope laying on the wooden floor. You stared at it for a moment, your breath catching just slightly in your throat.
“It’s just a letter” you thought, but your heart beat like it held something far more dangerous.
You picked it up and closed the door immiedietly, as if you were scared that someone will see. The moment you sat on the bed again, silence settled again. Heavy, but expectant. You turned the envelope in your hands, hesitating. See something that was definitely forbidden. With trembling fingers, you opened it, and started reading.
“My dearest, […],
I beg your pardon if everything happening yesterday was a misunderstanding. Yet, I shall listen to my heart, telling me that it was exactly what should have happen.
You strike me as a woman who has never been satisfied. With that being said, I must admit, you are like me - I have never been satisfied. Our meeting last night lingers in my mind like the scent of smoke after fire. You charmed me with your presence, set my heart aflame. Flame that cannot be put down easily.
I fear i might have been too forward, but it did not seem to scare you at all. You saw more in me than just a rebel woman looking out of place. And now I find myself writing this letter, without words that can explain my deepest feelings.
I will not make promises i cannot keep. But if your heart stirred even slightly - if curiosity taken place of your fear - I should very much like to see you once again.
A ribbon on your door shall be enough for me to receive the message.
Yours, without proper words,
E.W”
You stared at the letter long enough to have read it at least 10 times. Your fingers trembled, something whispering in your ear why you shouldn’t feel exactly the way you felt right now. Your heart didn’t listen.
You sat there for a long time, the rested letter on your lap like a weight you weren’t ready to carry - but you didn’t want to put it down. It looked like it was written in hurry - the letters smudged, sometimes hard to read. You hid the letter under your bed and lay down on your bed once again. Your gaze shifted to the drawer of your desk, where you kept some ribbons.
The rain hadn’t stopped. Outside, the sky was still grey, droplets still banging on your window, like restless thoughts. Inside, you were learning the shape of a feeling you were never taught to name.

!! notes : Hii yall!! this is the first time im writing something and wellll im so in love in hamilton that i had to write this. I hope youll enjoy it!!!
Gossips about Ellie Williams was always all around the town, but its not like people hated her. She was quite liked in the community. It was her deviancy that was so different. You always thought that if it wasn’t a small yet still lively town she would already be burning on some kind of pile. It was said that Ellie never wanted marriage, which was perceived as unacceptable in general public. Also, she never wore dresses. A piece of cloth that specified your wealth and social role, absolutely thrown away by her. She just settled on wearing suits and jackets. Here, people tolerated her behavior because of her father, Joel. He served as Justice of Peace, which gave him huge control of what is accepted, and what is condemned.
It was him that organised the whole ball. All the decorations, neatly selected to match the whole winter theme, endless tables with food piling up. When you first came in to the hall, you were amused by splendor, so unusual for such a small town.
You were sipping on your wine and talking with your sister, listening to the live music performance. You didn’t really mind the surrounding people, as everyone looked almost the same. Everybody was dancing, and the band was top volume. Oceans of lavish dresses, with definitely too much ribbons and frills, corsets squeezing everyone’s waists to look at least ten times smaller. Its not like you didn’t look similar; you were just sick of everyone dressing the same exact way. Thats when you noticed someone walking in. And god, you were absolutely helpless at the sight you had in front of you. It was a girl, but she wasnt like any other female in the room. She had a gorgeous suit on. Burgundy coat hanging loosely on her shoulder, gorgeous, creamy vest tight around her stomach, and this shiny, gold necklace… You couldn’t look away from her. Your older sister, Angelica, noticed you staring.
“It’s that Williams girl, isn’t it?” She asked you with a smug smile. You kept staring, amazed by her looks.
“Shes really brave for wearing that instead of a dress. I think if it wasn’t her father, she would be long gone.” Angelica kept talking, but her words didn’t make it into your brain. You started walking in her direction.
Your sister scoffed and yelled something about being careful, but you didn’t care. All you wanted is to exchange at least one word with Ellie. Mid walk you realized what you were actually doing. Your palms started sweating uncontrollably, thoughts rushing in your head. What were you supposed to say? Wouldn’t it be weird to talk to her? She was a rebel. Your father wouldn’t be exactly proud from what you were about to do. You didn’t think of stopping, of course. You couldn’t throw away your shot. By the time you stood next to her, your mind went blank.
There she was - shoulder-length hair, golden earrings, and those damn green eyes that seemed to pierce right through you. Ellie noticed you immediately, a soft smile curling on her lips. She dipped into a graceful bow, one hand resting lightly on her back. You could swear your heart skipped a beat.
“Ellie Williams at your service, madam,” she said, her voice calm and steady, still deep in the bow.
You hesitated for a moment, but hearing the formal greeting, a soft giggle escaped your lips. You curtseyed deeply, mirroring her elegant posture.
“Pleasure to meet you,” you replied, your voice a little breathless as you introduced yourself.
Talking to her felt unreal -almost dreamlike, like a dream that you couldn't quite place.
“Well, this one’s mine, ma’am,” she said with a playful glint in her eye.
She scanned your posture from head to toe, almost like it was the first time she saw a woman. You could feel her eyes on your cloudy blue dress, sweeping her eyes over ruffles and bows, as if she tried to remember all the little details. She took much longer to observe your face, which made you giggle nervously again.
"I must say, you quite take one's breath away." She murmured, her voice lower now — softer, as if the words weren’t meant for anyone else to hear.
You opened your mouth to reply, but nothing came out. Her compliment hung between you, thickening the atphosfere.
Ellie straightened just slightly, the teasing sparkle still in her eyes, but now softened by something more tender.
“I hope you won’t think me bold,” she continued, her eyes still piercing yours.
You laughed - too loud, perhaps, but you didn't seem to care. You just met the girl, but you couldn't help that warm feeling in your chest.
“Then I suppose I should be flattered,” you managed, eyes flicking to look around the surroundings. Most people, already wine drunk, were dancing to the soft rythm of the music. You noticed Angelica introducing your younger sister, Peggy, to some soilder boy, and you snorted at the sight. Ellie turned around, looking in the same direction you did.
“Friends of yours?” she asked, but her gaze never left your face. Instead, it lingered a little longer than needed.
You laughed under your breath.
“Hardly. They’re my sisters.”
"I see." She answered. Ellie turned her head around again, a man called her name loudly. You recgognized him - it was Joel, her father.
"I suppose you should go?" you said gently.
The girl nodded, as she bowed again, in the same, ridiculous way.
"Dont think you won't hear from me again!" She said as she turned and walked away.
"If I won't, God definitely will." You murmed with the soft smile, and you watched her dissapear into the crowd.
