once again begging people not to use period tracking apps, pregnancy apps, or really any app that collects any kind of data about your health at all
(full article)
#but how will I know if I hit REM sleep without my oura ring?!??!!#you won't. you'll continue to live anyway. just as centuries of humans before you.#I mean this is dire for everyone but fuck man the risks for ppl who menstruate are through the roof rn#just. do not use an app. ppl tracked their periods long before the cell phone was invented. don't use an app#you never know who's getting that data & what they're doing with it#and now with this extreme right wing fascist govt in power & wanting everyone to have these fuckin 'wearables'#like. it's dystopian. do not fuckin use an app. pls.#us politics#reproductive rights

Saturday night, I met a beautiful senior cat on the streets who had clearly been outside for a while. My sweetheart and I played with him for almost an hour before deciding we should bring him inside.

I'd thought the cat was a tortoiseshell, until the light hit him and I realized that his "calico" pattern was actually black and white snowflake vitiligo. It's quite a rare pattern, one I've never seen in person before.
He didn't have much of an appetite, but he was extremely sweet and affectionate, with good energy levels. He let me hand-feed him a churu and was very happy to have access to a litterbox and clean water and snuggles. On the rare occasion that he stopped purring, it was clear that he had a bit of an upper respiratory infection as well.

On Monday we took him to the first available veterinarian. Everyone's jaw dropped when we discovered a microchip! The office contacted his registered owner, but she did not want to keep him and gladly relinquished him over to our care.
His microchip registration said he was originally named Sargent Pepper and was only six years old - but the vet shared my certainty that he's a senior. (His paperwork must have been messed up somehow. Perhaps his age was missing a "1" in front of it?)

Li'l mans got a subdermal saline injection, an antibiotic shot, rabies and distemper vaccinations, a complete ear cleaning, a pedicure, and some take-home oral medication for possible worms. (He finally stopped purring for a few minutes, but forgave us pretty quickly.) He tested negative for feline leukemia (yay) but we're waiting on another blood test to see if he has any chronic conditions.

In the meantime, the subdermal saline worked wonders on plumping up his skin and brightening his eyes. And the antibiotics definitely have him feeling better - last night he even polished off a full bowl of moist cat food.
We're keeping the name Pepper; and because he's an Old Man who has lived many lifetimes already, we are also calling him Dax. He'll be staying with my sweetheart (and roommates) but he's definitely a shared cat. He's my boy now too.

It took sixteen years, but Pepper Dax is finally home 🏠💜

If ANY of yall EVER do this shit to me, im deleting every single fic out of spite.
If I ever catch one of yall doing this to another author and I know youre a follower of my work I will block you personally on every platform

None of yall are the fic police. I DESPISE genai. I think its an insult to art, humanity, and the planet itself. But aint not a single fucking person here qualified to pick apart a strangers fic looking for a gotcha moment to make yourselves feel superior. If you think something is ai you can ask the author (most are proud of the ai use and will just tell you straight up) if they say yes you have your answer and can warn people. If they say no and you dont believe them you block and quietly keep it between you and maybe a close group of friends. Spreading misinformation is DANGEROUS. And NONE of you doing this shit are anywhere near qualified to do it.
THIS GOES DOUBLY FOR ARTISTS.
#are people forgetting entirely that the whole 'point' of ai was that it's supposed to be AS GOOD as humans?#like. that's why they scraped every website on earth INCLUDING ao3 to train their models?#of course it's going to replicate work now that looks like actual human writing with longer smarter sentences & paragraphs#that's what it was TRAINED TO DO. THEY TRAINED IT HOW TO USE PUNCTUATION.#are you ppl this fucking stupid? I mean. obviously. I guess we sink another tier as a species every day#and I'm sorry those paragraphs aren't even long. like. sorry you just suck at reading I guess?#a trip to your local library might help you with that!#this is another thing that has pissed me off before in the fic community. ppl bitching about totally normal length paragraphs & sentences#like bro. what do you want? the whole fic in tweet speak? you probably do.#this is so long it could have been chapters!#bro it's 10k with full on line breaks formatted in to indicate new times/perspectives/whatever#just stop at a fuckin FORMATTED IN LINE BREAK?#it's like I don't get it bro. you ppl shit urselves over novel length fics that tbh aren't very good & often fall off & lose the plot#but actually well written stuff that's sorta mid length but is formatted well & uses proper punctuation y'all hate#now to the point where you accuse it of being ai cause apparently you forgot the part where ai was TRAINED TO BE THAT WAY#anyway. I woke up today and chose bitchiness. obviously.
