my stomach hurts thinking about them

they were literally made for eachother omg i an crying

it's not like it's just the ending of the movie is sad (it obviously is sad) but the whole movie man. they were so miserable without eachother and you can just tell

the way ennis got extremely painful stomach cramps and nearly threw up when he left jack and then that one scene where ennis came uk behind jack and just hugged him, humming to him. and people still say that ennis didn't care for jack or didn't love him, when he obviously did but he was just so scared and traumatised by what his father showed him when he was nine years old.

the scene where jack just got the message about ennis's divorce and came to him. he was so happy, singing and smiling the car and then going back crying. that scene always breaks my heart, jack was so happy to see ennis and just immediately got sent back.

and then don't even get me started on their childhood

ennis being forced to look at a dead man's body, who got brutally murdered for being gay, was such a shocking scene and left such a detrimental impact on his life.

and how his parents died when he was around 10/11, his older sister and brother having to raise him but he felt like he didn't have a place in their lives anymore

jack's dad being so abusive to him when he was younger. we literally have a scene described to us in the book of jack's father urinating on young jack and then beating him up

and how jack's dad still hates him when he passed away and was homophobic. he was such an asshole

also, all of the over characters that got screwed over. alma and lureen, their husbands cheating on them pretty much all of their marriages. we aren't sure if we know lureen knew about jack's affair during their marriage but we are pretty sure she has a chlie after ennis called her. and alma having to see her husband actually all over another man

jenny and junior, their mother and father divorcing and they presumably didn't have a great marriage, which wouldn't of been nice to see

but also bobby. his father died when he was a teenager. not to mention how jack slightly regrets having bobby at all, saying that he never wanted kids. he probably doesn't know that he wasn't wanted but still, his dad dying and then his grandad hating his dad. it must've been so rough for him.

but then ennis and jack </3 they probably didn't ever say to eachother that they loved one another but i don't think it mattered, they knew how much they meant eachother. jack loved ennis so much that he put up with their couple-of-trips-each-year for 16 years because he was willing to go those lengths just for ennis. ennis loved jack so much that he was terrified of jack getting hurt for being gay. he had their shirts in twined with a postcard of brokeback mountain in his closet, at the end of the movie, swearing to jack even though 'jack wasn't the swearing kind'.

not to mention jack saying his favourite place was brokeback mountain.

this movie has actually changed me and will forever be ones of my favourites.

Since everyone seems to have a different method and backstory: how do you get rid of hiccups and who taught you? I personally bend over ninety degrees and drink from the other side of the glass (try it, it's actually pretty intuitive). I learned it from a Calvin and Hobbes comic and it actually works every time. The only problem is that you need to have a glass - I don't know why, but it just doesn't work with a bottle.

RIGHT HERE, banging my head against the glass and gnawing at the drywall. Tumblr has hidden my posts and reblogs (specifically those that are tagged for Brokeback, I think) and locked my out of my messages, maybe even blocked my asks. Homophobic tbh. If you've messaged me or sent an ask, know that the reason I'm not answering is not because I don't want to, but because I don't see it...

- What did you do to deserve this?

I'm not sure, but I have a theory. A swarm of spam bots followed be. I blocked almost all of them, except for those who looked like they could be real people on Tumblr for the first time. So I sent them messages asking for any kind of reply... Multiple identical ones. Whoopsie. I didn't except this hellsite to have a system that recognizes spam in DM's, but then again, this is speculation based on limited data.

- Well, why haven't you gotten yourself un-blocked?

Support is not answering my emails. I've tried selecting different categories, used two different emails, begged, asked nicely - silence. If any of you have an idea as to what might've gone wrong, let me know and I'll try to fix it (no, it's not in the spam folder).

Pack up my lil boxes, put on ma rain shoes and move to another account. I've waited a month, skipped Brokeback's birthday and my mental health has suffered enough. I need to be amongst the people again.

UPDATE: IT WAS JUST A GLITCH. It apparently had nothing to do with my messages. I think blocking all those bots and messaging them overloaded the system somehow?.. I'm not a expert.

Support has fixed it and I can see my messages again. I will continue posting on @maelstroem-of-love, but I thought I'd let you guys know anyway.

If you ever have a similar problem, sit tight and wait! Don't repeat my mistake! They will get around to you eventually.

I love brokeback for so many reasons but one of the most important ones is how real it is. Like. This is exactly how I look when I wake up in the morning

All of my favorite media is either incredibly mainstream or so obscure it's hard to find fan content about it, and brokeback mountain (2005) somehow manages to be both.

If it's a podcast, it's either the Magnus Archives or something literally titled "who shat on the floor at my wedding". If it's a show, it's either Star Trek or Soviet scifi about some teenager and his robot doppleganger that gives me trans vibes (no one's watched it, ever). If it's a book, it's either Fellowship of the Ring or a children's book I read in a local library that has like a hundred copies in the whole world.

And Brokeback is both because everyone recognizes it. Everyone knows (vaguely) what it's about. But how many actually understand it and love it? How many see it for what it is instead of thinking of it as "the gay cowboy movie" or "the movie that started gay rep"? Not many. Which sucks because I want people to draw fanart of it and write dumb little ficcy fics about Alma going to Five Guys or whatever and make AUs. I want lore deep dives and analysis posts. I want beanposting on main. It doesn't matter that it's a serious movie, we already did that to Breaking Bad and GOT. Aaaand post

ennis is a cat person. jack is not. and it's simply because every cat he's ever tried to pet has scratched or bit him. he claims it's targeted, like the cats do it on purpose just to hurt his feelings (and hands). ennis thinks it's hilarious when he says that because "really? the cats do it on purpose? you're an idiot jack twist." so i like to imagine that one day ennis comes home and he has a little bundle in his arms and it's a cat. he found it outside all wet and dirty and he couldn't just leave it. and jack is immediately like "fuck no, cats are EVIL, it's gonna plot my murder!!" but he can't say no to ennis for shit so the cat stays. fast forward, the cat really is out to get him. it hates him. ennis is it's favorite easily and it'll get pissy if jack is in it's general area. and there's like a little pissing match between jack and this 10 pound cat. ennis is BEYOND entertained. he watches this go on, watches as jack flicks drips of water at the cat when he's doing dishes, watches as the cat swats at jack with claws out whenever he passes by, watches as jack refuses to give the cat treats (he'll even shake the box slightly just to tease the cat), watches as the cat shits in jack's shoes. it's a whole thing, like his own little comedy show at home. it's like that for a long time. and then one day jack gets sick. he's bedridden for a few days. and ennis comes home one of those days to find jack fast asleep with the cat curled in a little ball right in the crook of his arm. he's so shocked but also melting because it's the cutest sight he's ever seen in his life. when jack wakes up, the cat stays. jack is like "ennis i'm literally terrified to move what if i move wrong and this little shit goes attack mode" and ennis starts fuckin dying he's like pissing his pants. but he moves and the cat doesn't attack. it just sits and blinks at him slowly. and jack's like "have i been accepted????" and he has, the cat and him made a truce that day. they still pick at each other but it's less filled with hatred and more just, bickering as much as a cat and human can bicker lmao. it's good natured. (basically it's the cat version of ennis and it's like their story all over again, just showing that no matter what version of ennis it is, it'll end up adoring jack so much)
