Well, I finally received the body and the color match is indeed very off. Looks like it'll have to be dyed. Honestly, should I just paint the neck and hands or dye the whole thing? Or alternatively, just sew clothes that cover up most of its body?
I also heard that BJD yellowing is due to the sun breaking down red pigments in the resin. So....has anyone purposely yellowed a reddish tan body before?

Doll: Peach zizhi Blacc on an Evantasy body
Colors DO NOT MATCH, head is in light tan, Evantasy tan is 日浇 and is much darker and reddish in color. I would describe it as almost like Azone Pureneemo tan. Construction wise, the Evantasy 61cm body is pretty good! It also has magnetic dicks but they're not super detailed so that's nice.
More of the off color match. The body is very pretty.

So I finished some heads and I am waiting on their bodies but I want to display them

They are oddly cute like this.
Feel sorry for the doll that is sitting next to them though. Sucks to be you.

Color matching is a nightmare. The pictures and swatches for a body looked perfect for a color match to a head, but after receiving warehouse pictures, it's off. By a bit. And of course it's the character that will be wearing the least amount of clothes and it's only a perfect color match if the character's clothes can cover up a poor match. Ah, the hell of hybriding.
I wish it was like obitusuroid color matching. Easy as frick.
#bjd#color matching is hell#i mean#if everything is 烧,then what color is it? sometimes it's soom light tan#sometimes it's a reddish color or even orange.#thing is#the body color is what I want#but the head color is too light but it's the only head of this sort i like for this character#aaaaaaaaa

Jun Planning Ai Sage
She's my fourth doll and I took these photos a few years ago. Really love her, even if her hair feels weird.

And here's some other old pictures of her with my Fdoll.

I look back and see how much things have changed from my early days in the hobby to now. I was afraid of touching them because of how fragile they seemed and I only wanted the smaller dolls since they fit so well on my bookshelf and the larger sizes seemed intimidating.
and now I'm just outright hugging my 1/3 dolls.
I do miss how almost magical they seemed since they really lost that quality to me. I obviously still love dolls, but right now, I see them as more of something for creative projects.

I know hybriding dolls can be tough, but holy shit, the yuyu sauce no 8 head broke me. it has to be on a charmdoll body due to the mods it will be getting but i cant tell whether i should use pink or normal. the resin is a lot more like thin plastic that the resin of usual bjds since the jaw mouth wouldnt work otherwise. it's like right in the middle between pink or yellow.

1/3 bjds have such a nice weight to them that i love cuddling them. problem is that i really dont want to damage their faceup, but holding a headless doll just isnt the same. I feel myself calming down and its easier to fall asleep.
cant wait for the bodies of my incomplete 1/3 s to arrive so at least i wont have to worry about damaging the faceup. My only resin 1/3 has a faceup thats not done by me and i wont be able to replicate it. i dont even know who the artist is. but i still just love cuddling it.

Randomly decided to put two dolls together and take some photos. My Toz doll has been sitting on my desk these past few days. I still can't get to making clothes for it since I'm waiting on the stainsuit to arrive. I have a vintage wedding dress that it can safely wear, but it's just not wide enough for the dress. I should also probably make or get a petticoat or crinoline for the dolls. I really need one that hasn't been assigned to a doll already.

Dolls: Tozdoll 1/4 MJD, Mayfly Spider Plate on Babybell Ayi+Mayfly Spider torso
Spider dolly is such a mishmash of parts. It's an obitsuroid.

The fact that etsy now allows dropshipping while still claiming that they don't is so audacious, the site is literally worthless now. I feel so bad for the artists having to compete with floods of dropshippers and people shelling out $80 for a bjd outfit being like "it's worth it to support local artisans" when in reality they're buying an item from taobao that actually costs $15 and is sold for $25 on aliexpress and ebay. Not even joking the etsy markups are that bad. I wouldn't even hate these taobao resellers if they didn't try to scalp the prices so much and were honest about being resellers instead of making it look like they are the ones making the clothes. Not to mention all the recasts on there...
Anyway, here's some of my fav legit doll clothing shops on etsy:
RopitasKawaii: pullip, blythe, and rainbow high lolita dresses from Spain
AtelierMilabrocc: casual pullip, blythe, and barbie clothes from Poland
Yukijiro: pullip lolita dresses from Hong Kong
Cottonhoney: cute 1/3 and 1/4 bjd clothes from Thailand
HelloCoolCat: clothes and supplies for pullip and blythe from Taiwan (they also have a website that has more stuff for bjds)
Toocuteclub: printed graphic clothes for rainbow high and 1/3 bjd from USA
Ninaherisson: 1/3 bjd alt clothes from USA
Balljointedsoulmates: cute casual 1/3 bjd and minifee clothes from Austria
TiffyCuppyCake: 1/3 and 1/4 bjd sweaters/sweatshirts and hoodies from USA
MilkyWayDreamsFR: cute 1/4 bjd accessories from France
DollishSweets: cute 1/4 and 1/3 bjd clothes, accessories, and eyes from USA
PetiteBonita: cute 1/4 bjd outfits from Indonesia (includes custom measurements)
EliteDollWorld: casual smart doll clothes from USA
YumeWearShop: cute and casual 1/3, 1/4, and 50cm bjd clothes from the Netherlands
HauntCoutureAtelier: monster high, rainbow high, and barbie clothes from USA
Shout out to these artists! If anyone else has more let me know!

There are a few male dolls I bought second hand that were listed and came with fancy and pretty dresses and I wonder if they feel exasperated that I put them into more dresses. Some are male dolls that came with no clothing only to be put into dresses permanently.
They're dolls so they don't have feelings and it doesn't really matter, but if they were alive and had the personalities I envision them to have, I would think a few of them would be rather upset about this, although I don't think most of them would care.
What can I say, dresses are pretty and so are these dolls.

Been fiddling around with 3D sculpting. I heard 3D printed dolls are brittle and they dont hold up as well, but it this due to what filament or settings you use or is it the structure of 3D printed objects?

This might be controversial, but tbh I think the way that recasters are operating now is even worse than it was several years ago.
Like before, most would say that their recasts were [insert company's doll name], so if you knew recasts were a thing and saw a minifee chloe on aliexpress or ebay for $200, you'd know it was fake. Especially on ebay, they used to state straight up in the description that the doll was a recast LIKE THEY'RE LEGALLY SUPPOSED TO.
But now? You have recasters frankensteining a bunch of different recast parts together, giving the dolls customized full sets, new names, and claiming that they're original dolls. The dropshippers all over ebay don't even bother stating that they're recasts, which is illegal, but even if you report them how tf are you supposed to prove they're fakes to the random ebay mods? Even if you specifically hunt down the original bodies and heads that were recast, the new makeup and clothes will make the dolls look different to any non-doll hobbyist's eyes. To make this even more confusing for newbies, there ARE legit bjds being sold by dealers on aliexpress (ufdoll, imomodoll, tiny blind box bjds) so giving a blanket ban for the site can cause misunderstandings.
I tbh don't even understand why they go to such great lengths either if they're looking for a cheap buck. Like why spend time and money making them good clothes, wigs, and makeup? With that amount of effort, you could probably make a simple legit plastic bjd instead.
Plus at this point, those full sets cost the same amount or more as a legit doll from many chinese companies (ESPECIALLY during chinese new year sales). I think the main way to combat recasts for newbies is to promote these afforable legit companies like myou, truelove, asleep eidolon, huajing doll, xaga, doll leaves, etc). After all, the only inexpensive legit company I see recommended is usually resinsoul. There's nothing wrong with resinsoul, and it's a great option for fantasy parts/colors, but most newbies that want a minifee chloe probably won't enjoy resinsoul's sculpts and faceups...

I should not have even asked.
I do not need any more floating heads.
Why didn’t they tell me no.
We do not have enough bodies for this.
