Humanity is such an interesting concept to play around with and the concept of being human is such an open concept.

Anyways, THE AO THROUGHOUT OBLIVION !!!! (plus my ocs too). They all experience some form of disconnection from feeling human when they turn into deities.

I believe loss of humanity and the transcendence to godhood is such an interesting concept and I just wanted to do something with it. Which caused this AU to come to life in a way lol ummm. Combining interests is fun.

The Awesome Brawlers are already, in a way, dehumanised. Instead of being seen as humans, they're more seen as concepts, the ideal heroes that are put onto pedestals instead of being seen as what they are, teenagers that make mistakes.

Turning them into deities drags them away from that feeling of being human even further. They have powers and forms beyond the mortal comprehension that can either cause them to be put on an even higher pedestal, or become utterly feared.

Not to mention their powers as deities can cause absolute mass destruction, one little mistake and suddenly the public is against them again. It gets to the point where they're actively questioning their humanity, losing themselves in who they truly are and what they truly mean to the people they protect.

I think this idea that they're seen nothing more than heroes, or in this case, deities, instead of something that is somewhat human is fascinating.

Shira (my oc, my beloved) is honestly the first example I think of when it comes to characters that don't entirely think they're human.

She was raised a weapon, actively trained and experimented on. For most of her life she was never seen as human and it's a strong desire she holds, to understand and grasp what it means to be human. No matter how hard she tries though, she feels she can never truly be human, never truly gain her humanity back. Not to mention becoming a deity pulls her further away from becoming human again.

Shira actively has never felt completely human and believes she will never be able to experience that humanity she lost when she was so young, again. All because fate dragged her down this wormhole. She has already had her humanity basically stripped, and the others are starting to slowly lose theirs more and more.

They're all scared of themselves and what they might become...

I am a normal person and can be trusted around fictional characters who think they aren't entirely human
