Now the story of a mixed race family, who "lost" everything (me, for three months), and the one dad who had all the choice to not surprise anyone. I called my dad on his birthday from @newhopeforcambodianchildren this year. I was trying to give him well wishes but he was clearly barely listening as he is almost always distracted with a thought. Normally, I would be peeved but when he spoke, what followed filled me with even more respect and admiration for him. He said, "I was thinking it'd be a really good idea to donate some fruit trees to the orphanage..." and proceeded to ramble on about ideas for the best and most economical fruits to grow in the area. We ended up donating five fruit trees and he was adamant about paying for them even though it was his birthday. When I got home, it became apparent that fam wasn't even aware of Bapa's generous donation. My first day at @newhopeforcambodianchildren in December last year. I was helping in the pre-school, which included a lot of reminding the children that they were practising writing (hence me pointing at the work). These angels are lucky to be living in a loving, homey environment with access to education, food, clean water and ARV treatment.
