Big fan of characters who “kill” their younger selves. Characters who resent the past version of themselves for letting them get hurt, who look at that kid and feel revolted by the foreignness of it. Characters who feel they have to cut the child out of them like a tumor because it’s hurting them too much and if I don’t kill you you’ll kill me. Nearly nothing remaining of that past self but for the little connections and mannerisms they can’t kick, and when it shines through, it’s a terrible, tragic thing, because the child is still in there. It’s in there and it’s grotesque in its suffocation. But it’s there.

Not very long. The screaming alarm clock does help, but I don't think they're a lingerer in general. If they're awake, they'd rather be on the couch with tea and a blanket for a lazy morning than in bed getting bored.

My favourite trope has to be:

I sacrificed myself to save you. I didn’t plan to survive. I burnt all the bridges. I intended to break your heart with my death, but that would be all right, because I wouldn’t be around to see you. I pretended that you’ll mourn me for a while and move on. I convinced myself I was going down in the blaze of glory. That my deed was appreciated. That everything was going to be all right afterwards, and I didn’t need to be there to see it.

But I survived. And now I have to look you in the eye. I have to pick up the pieces of the life I shattered and figure out how to put it back together. If it can be done at all.

okay hi, something i just thought of:

there's a lot of nuance in skills. sometimes, high Persuasive means a character is a master of seduction; sometimes, because people look at them and find them too adorable/pitiful to say no. sometimes, a character who's highly Dangerous is well built and holds their own with their muscles; sometimes, it's because of their ability with a weapon or poison.

how do your character's stats (in-game) translate to their skills (in a story)?
