Today, 15/11/23, we had our 3rd Indesign induction.

Within the session we went over again how to use baseline and modular grids in our documents, we also looked at how to add in page numbers so they flow automatically to each next page as and when we add them.

We also looked at other forms of text formatting and re-formatting such as moving specific paragraphs closer to the one above or further to the left/right than the other paragraphs. As well as this we learnt again how to edit our paragraph styles so they are more customised to what we need for different projects etc.

Next we looked at types of pagination, in where we were shown how to package our work for print, especially in the format we were working with which was a document to be printed into a booklet.

We were also tasked within the induction to use what we had learnt so far and open a booklet about this years Christmas adverts that Jordy had set up for us, and have a go at re-formatting parts, moving text, editing typography used to either serif or sans serif (depending on which we were told to change to) and setting up grids so that the booklet could flow better. After 10 mins of working on it we gave our 1st edit on to the person who was on our right and we had to edit the persons on the left. After we edited this we had to package it again and print these out into booklets.

Today, 08/11/23, we had our 2nd Indesign workshop, we were shown how to use guides and text etc to improve layouts, we were also shown how to set up a document for a 3 page leaflet on Indesign, which we later filled with a summary of our 1st term. We also learnt how to edit character styles and paragraph styles so that they are more effective/unique and also so that the letters don't sit so close together etc.

Today, 26/10/23, we had our 1st InDesign induction, I also wasn't able to attend this one in person but still completed it using the guidance posted on canvas.

We looked at how to set up documents, use grids/Margins/Bleed, use InDesign workspace and tools, use parent pages and overriding parent pages, use baseline grid, Set up a spread/moving pages, use links and source files, use frames and placing images, use selection tool vs direct selection tool, use text boxes - threaded text, text wrap, hyphenation, text alignment, use saving, exporting and packaging documents tools.

Once we ran through how to use/do these we then went in and created our own book page sort of layout using the tools we had learnt in terms of placing images and text to create layouts and using grids to create layouts too.
