Mav not liking Jake and not liking Jake dating his only child is an amazing concept, ESPECIALLY when all his reasons are that Jake is too much like him. But it's even funnier if he doesn't realise it.
"He rides a motorcycle without a helmet! He better not be giving Bradley rides on that thing."
"Guy thinks he's God's gift to aviation."
"He's an insubordinate ass and thinks orders are suggestions."
Funny levels increase further if Ice finds absolutely nothing wrong with Bradley's taste in men, but is ALSO completely oblivious to the fact that he feels that way because HE has Bradley's taste in men—
"I've always thought holding onto someone while riding a motorcycle is very romantic."
"Confidence is sexy, dear."
"Well, you certainly don't want Bradley with a yes man."

I once was scrolling through Reddit and came across a post where a somebody expressed interest in converting to Judaism but didn't like the fact that their nearest synagogue was Conservative and ~Zionist~ so they were looking for alternative ways of conversion. And yet, when people in the comments section tried to calmly explain how their conversion would not be legitimate, they refused to listen.
Keep seeing posts like "I'm converting to Judaism but I have Issues with things central to Judaism." Like nobody is forcing you to do this, homie. You can just think some aspects of Judaism are cool from a distance then and not try to cherrypick a closed indigenous practice.

Hello TG fandom! A little thing I’d like to share that may or may not dox me a teensy bit but it’s fiiiine:
I took some photos of a rollercoaster I recently went on- it’s Naval Aviation themed but at one point it was actually a Top Gun themed ride but I was a little too young to experience it before it closed down. I think it’s neat how the ride still keeps the spirit of the original one so people can still experience it
(If thrilling rollercoasters are your thing then I definitely would recommend it… before the park itself closes down in the next couple of years lmao)

this is monumental, so let’s discuss the geopolitics happening at the moment.
the UK, France, and Canada are all saying they’re going to recognize a Palestinian state in September, something they would have previously vetoed. there has thus far been no official discussion from them about what exactly that means - its agreed upon borders, its recognized government, its infrastructure, its responsibilities to its citizens and as part of the broader region. Starmer framed it in terms of punishment towards an ally (Israel) rather than as necessary self-determination for a nation of people (Palestinians), as a way to force the Israeli government’s hand, and that’s causing consternation and pushback. symbolic recognition is not a diplomatic solution, there has to be an actual actionable plan.
Recognition of statehood is not symbolic. Under the 1933 Montevideo Convention, it is a legal status that requires a permanent population, defined territory, a functioning government, and the capacity to enter into relations with other states.
however, with this news from the Arab League finally condemning 10/7 and calling for Hamas to surrender, there’s a need to zoom out.
neither the Israeli government nor Hamas have been successfully convinced or pressured by antagonistic powers to end this, because neither of them are interested in what the opposition thinks. with these recent moves, what we’re seeing is pressure exerted by their allies. in short, your allies are much more likely to have an impact on you than your opponents. this is true in life and in global affairs.
(Alana Zeitchik discussed this in her stories today and made me feel considerably more sane, so all due credit to her because I can’t share multiple video clips here.)
we don’t know what’s happening behind closed doors or who’s negotiating with whom and aware of specifics, and who controls what outcome, but presumably this is a coordinated effort to bring this war to a decisive end and to forge a peace process. whether it will be effective or not remains to be seen, but something has to give here, something has to change.
we should have seen the Arab League and the UN do this on October 8th, 2023, instead of nearly two years into this horrible war and at a tipping point of humanitarian crisis, but the fact that it has finally happened is significant. let us hope this is the beginning of a resolution.

Five months after his release from captivity—and nearly 11 years after he crossed the border into the Gaza Strip, where he was held by Hamas for over a decade—Avera Mengistu was discharged Tuesday evening from Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv.
“I’m excited,” he said upon his release, which his family described as a “significant step in his life.”
Mengistu, who suffers from mental illness, is transitioning from the hospital to a residential facility tailored to his needs.
“I still can’t fully grasp that he’s here with us,” said his sister Almenesh, who has accompanied him since his return to Israel. “I’m incredibly proud of the progress he’s made since coming back from captivity, despite all the challenges, ups and downs. He’s undergone a meaningful rehabilitation process. We’re grateful to Ichilov Hospital and the mental health unit for their devoted, intensive and sensitive care for Avera and our family, which made this moment possible.”
In a statement, the family added: “What until recently felt like a dream is becoming reality. Avera Mengistu is in Israel. Free. Beginning a new path. We pray for the release of all the hostages.”
