His gaze was level, even, his face a flat look of stoicism, voice unusually bereft of any emotion.

He slowly bends down at the knees to look her in the face, squatted before her, one hand still clutching the pole of his cane in his hand, the wedding ring of his wife visibly sitting atop a gloved hand.

“…And what exactly brought you to think that, Sera?”

Sera.

He said her name. For the first time in what felt like eternity.

The only moniker he had ever called her since he fell had only ever been High Seraphim, the first time spat viciously between bloodied gold lips as he knelt beaten and bloody in chains, and all the other times a cold and idle hum, a title of formality, stripped of all its weight and leaving only a hollow glibness.

This time…It was her name.

“….Well now.”

A pair of black, heeled boots steps into view. One of said boots winds up stepping right on top of where her old halo laid, the already broken pieces snapping with a sharp crack, a jagged piece lifting up into the air, jutting under his heel.

“..Of all people to fall…I wasn’t quite expecting you.”

((I know it’s been a while since I’ve used this blog, so just in case there are any new people following me who are unaware: My Lucifer is canon divergent! I do like to copy his overall behavior and his love for his daughter (and wife) from the show, but the actual aspects of his character are tweaked heavily and are all but entirely different from the show fullsale.

I fully encourage reading this post if you want to know the main big ways in which my Lucifer diverts from canon. I may add more to this list in the future.

• For one thing, his backstory involving giving the Apple to Eve also extends to giving Adam the apple as well, which consequently lead to both of them being kicked out of Eden. He did not give them the apple knowing what it would do, his intent was to prove Adam as fallible by having him break a rule to prove that his treatment of Lilith was wrong and that she was not at fault for choosing to run away.

• The Apples here for my canon did give humanity the power of free will, but also gave them the knowledge of evil and the knowledge of sin wholesale (it wasn’t something unleashed after the fact, the knowledge of evil was a direct result of eating the apple), which Heaven (and God) took as a horrible curse inflicted upon all of creation and thereby banished A&E both from the Garden. Essentially Heaven saw the concept of free will as something that could only ever lead to evil for evil’s sake, believing that all the world’s evils would never happen if humanity had never been free from Heaven’s influence.

• Lucifer himself also partook in an Apple (along with Lilith) when he realized what had happened to A&E and realized something was drastically wrong, with both gaining the Knowledge of Sin and Lucifer himself becoming the first Fallen Angel, his body and soul forever twisted and corrupted by infernal power (hence the horns, flaming halo and tail in the show). Lilith also gained the same knowledge of sin, and though she wouldn’t know it yet, she already became marked as the first sinner.

• Lucifer’s rebellion against Heaven was active and lively in my version, denouncing Heaven as a despotic kingdom that would only bring about the destruction of existence itself with its tyrannical ideals of control. He has no regrets for rebelling, no regrets for falling, and regards his actions with the Apple and the creation of humanity’s sin to be his gift to humankind as a whole. He actively delights in sin, in tempting, coercing, scheming, corrupting, and considers it a personal victory each and every time he draws a human soul away from the light of Heaven and down into Hell’s clutches.

• When he was cast down into Hell, Heaven punished him by torturing him for all of angelic kind to see, ripping his wings out of his back slowly, bones and all, before throwing his bleeding body from the highest peak in Heaven, letting him drop into the arid wasteland of Hell, an empty prison that he and Lilith both worked hard to fill with life by their own two hands. He later gave himself his own pair of wings, in the shape of a dragon’s wings, to further separate himself from his old angelic ties.

• He has a deep love and fondness for sinners, for humans in general, and he loves to see their full potential blossom in everything they do. He has his own limits of course, when it comes to the kinds of sins human beings are capable of, there are definitely things he does NOT advocate in any way, but he justifies himself with the mentality that retribution in the form of other’s free wills to not abide by the unspeakable will do as it wishes and cull any especially heinous perpetrators.

• When he Fell into Hell, instead of becoming crushed and depressed, he actively worked with Lilith to help make Hell prosper as a kingdom, promoting ideals of freedom, full autonomy and agency for all of its peoples, and sanctuary from the noxious absolutism of Heaven above. He is much, much more active in the politics of the kingdom than in the show, and works his damndest to make sure that it runs as smoothly as it can while also not being overbearing, wanting to rule Hell as a monarch, not as a deity.

• He also has a close and deep bond with the Seven Deadly Sins, regarding them as best friends of his that have been with him since the beginning, and he tries his damndest to ensure that there is cooperation between the rings. He visits them often whenever he gets the chance, and works hard to make sure the other rings are receiving the same treatment and attention.

• Was NOT a fan of the Purges, fought desperately and decisively against them as much as he could, but only acquiesced to them when it was clear that Heaven was forcing it on him as an ultimatum, with the only other solution being full on war. The Exterminations hit him hard, and though he did not fall into a full depressive slump about it, it has saddled him with a terrible case of guilt, with sadness of the decision he had to make, and the fear that, maybe, when the day of Armageddon finally comes, Heaven may potentially be too much for Hell to withstand.

• Still happily married to Lilith, who share an open relationship on both sides.

• Still has misgivings and doubts about the validity of Charlie’s hotel (he actively remembered and knew about it the whole time), but not because of a hatred and disdain for sinners, and was more deeply concerned with his daughter’s belief that redemption by the absolution of Heaven was the true goal for the people she wanted to help, and that having to force souls that wanted to change and wanted to become better to change on on Heaven’s terms and what Heaven dictated to be absolute truths on the nature of good and evil was, in essence, undoing the work of what Hell was made for.

• Knows Adam was involved in the Exterminations the whole time, and regards him with disgust and disdain, seeing him as a joke of a divine angel that he could easily squash into the ground. But he secretly holds an amount of pity and empathy for the Exorcists that Adam has in his control, recognizing the tyranny that Heaven forces them under, as much as he might sneer at their unwavering faith in their Commander.

A pair of black, heeled boots steps into view. One of said boots winds up stepping right on top of where her old halo laid, the already broken pieces snapping with a sharp crack, a jagged piece lifting up into the air, jutting under his heel.

“..Of all people to fall…I wasn’t quite expecting you.”

Sera groaned, coughing once the dust settled. Everything hurt from her none too gentle 'landing.'

Opening her eyes, she looked to her side. Her halo laid broken and bereft of its glow. She supposed she wouldn't be needing it anymore. Now to figure out her next steps.
