He felt horrible after seeing the look on his face, heart wrenching as though someone were squeezing it with the grip of a blacksmith. Ingo could feel not only his own hurt but that of the man before him.
“I… I do not know.” He fully admitted, feeling tears rushing to his own eyes. Years of frustration and agony over trying to recall a past that was always just out of reach. Blurry scenes of this man named Emmet as a child or young man. Of pokémon who were now unfamiliar and strange to him… of a friend they had whose voice was all he could remember.
“When I woke up in Hisui, I could not recall anything aside from my own name and speak in a completely different language… All I had that eluded to my past was my clothing and very fuzzy memories of someone who looked like myself, like you dressed in white and always smiling. I tried so hard to remember more, but I could not.” He said, voice starting to waver. “…. Until the child from the Rift came along. Something about him helped me recall more and more.”

Groaning as he stood straight after spending hours gathering springy mushrooms, hearty grains and plump beans for Lady Sneasler, he recounted everything he had in the sack his Machamp had been holding. He had to be sure it was enough for her or else she would chew on his hat in displeasure again.
The Warden’s ascent back up the cliffs was much easier than his journey down. It seemed as though many of the other Pokémon had gone off to hunt or forage themselves, leaving their usual spots for the time being. Lady Sneasler had stood behind to leisure a bit after a busy week of climbing and typical noble activities. Ingo wanted her to rest and not burn herself out.
He paused at one point to take a break himself. There was no true rush to get back within a certain time, allowing him to ease a little and give his engine a well deserved rest. ( @ingo-dragonofideals )
"Sne! Sneasler Sne!"
Sneasler sped up, causing the group to run after her. "Lady Sneasler, wait!" Adaman shouted after her. Mayumi meanwhile simply sprinted after the Ride Pokémon, sending out what she thought was Staraptor-
Only to realize not only had her appearance changed to one she had in the past, but that her party had as well- granting her the chance to see faces she hadn't seen in centuries.
There stood Rapidash, the first shiny she ever caught and her speedy and playful partner, the perfect opposite to Quilly's laidback and loyal nature. The flaming horse neighed and caught up with Sneasler, the two appearing to have a conversation of sorts before both slowed down a bit. Mayumi blinked away tears and focused; she could see the familiar black cap of the Pearl Clan Warden.
One of the few people she opened up to, Ingo had practically adopted her alongside Laventon and Cyllene. He was... family.
And yet they somehow forgot about him...

Ingo looks down at him as the man’s hand came to grip his. The heat radiating from his body was not familiar to him, but, in some way, it was? It made little sense at the moment but he was sure that with time, he will regain other memories he’s lost…
“Y-yes… I am the Pearl Clan Warden Ingo.”
Even though he’s said that numerous times, it felt right and wrong… He indeed was a warden for the Pearl Clan, but wasn’t he something else before this?
“You… You are Emmet? You are my… brother?” He asked, wanting confirmation for what had flashed in his mind moments ago. Vague memories of growing alongside him. Of protecting and caring for him, even as they reached adulthood and those cruelly jeering individuals were much less frequent.

He seemed fully unaware of his surroundings as the sobbing continued. Ingo glanced between Mayumi and Adaman as if asking what he should do. This man he didn’t know but everyone insisted was of his same flesh and blood, a relative… his brother. It was true that, by being around Rei, he was able to recall some of those lost memories but names and faces were still foggy in his mind.
Taking in a shaky breath, he reaches an unsure hand out and gently places it on one of the man’s shoulders. The familiar feel of the fabric and scent of the fragrance he wore mixed with… campfire? seemed to clear away that fog covering the face that haunted and nearly killed him. This face was somehow less frightening. It seemed kind then flashed to eager. Then a much younger version wrenched in anguish. He felt his own eyes well up with tears the more of those hazy memories became clear.
Yes. This was Emmet. His name is Emmet. And he is indeed, my brother.
Ingo knelt down before him, his voice different but familiar as he called his name once again.
“Emmet…?”

This entire time Ingo hadn’t truly been looking at the man, haunted by that face for so long now… It had been hard to not associate it with the Zoroark that manipulated him and tried to kill him all while wearing that same disguise. Tormenting him with the memories he lacked that stood locked away. Now, he couldn’t even try to remember anything without feeling the pain in his back, the claws that carved his flesh and stained the surrounding snow red.
He didn’t know whether to trust what Mayumi and Adaman said. It was easy to see that Mayumi hadn’t been a Zoroark even if she constantly wore that mask and her origins had been odd. That argument was illogical to him even if others had been convinced she was a Pokémon in disguise. After all, he was used to being around someone who for extended periods would sign as he couldn’t speak… Wait, who was that? Who is this person that popped up in his mind just now? Why was he remembering that at this moment?
As much as his defenses told him to keep his gaze averted, there was much more telling him to look and so he did. His smoky eyes reluctantly moved over to the sobbing man as his body began releasing some tension. The way he had broken down before him ached him like none other. It was slightly easier to look at him with his head hung low and face out of view. Maybe this wasn’t that Zoroark after all? If Lady Sneasler hadn’t felt him to be a threat, couldn’t he trust it?
His hand came to one of Machamp’s arms, an indicator to stand down for now as he cautiously walked over to them.
“E-Emmet?” He asked as he approached, getting ever so closer.

“I do not know what lies this Pokémon has told you to gain your trust, but that is not anyone I know- It is playing tricks! If not to kill you as well, but to finish the job with me!” He answered, though his mind was confused. A little spark of a memory was on the precipice of being recalled but it was still awfully fuzzy.
No, this Zoroark was messing with him again and now Mayumi and the Diamond Clan Leader! Who knew he would go to such lengths and simply did not just give up and find a new target after all this time…
Machamp stood by his side, taking on a defensive stance. He was ready to protect Ingo and the others by any means.
A twin? How preposterous. He did not know himself to have a brother, let alone one who was an identical twin. The Warden was determined to keep his family safe from the harm that befell him and possibly worse. He did not recognize this man… Not entirely anyhow. There was no way he was real. This was an illusion, right?

His head perked up at the commotion heading his way, turning to see Lady Sneasler bounding toward him then a very familiar Rapidash catching up to her. Wasn’t that the Rapidash that belonged to Mayumi? It’s unique coloring was something he had only seen once alongside her. He remembered how excited she was over finding such a rare Pokémon and there she was running up alongside Adaman… and someone else.
Ingo stood up from his seated spot underneath the shade of a tree, Machamp taking on a more defensive position once he spotted that man in white beside the others.
“MISS MAYUMI!! LEADER ADAMAN!! PLEASE GET AWAY FROM HIM!” He shouted, his voice carrying clearly over the distance. “THAT IS NO HUMAN, THAT IS A ZOROARK!”
He was not sure how he found and tricked them with his illusion…
