I can never take dom!In-ho seriously. He just gives off such needy sub vibes - man is constantly looking for someone to give him direction and tell him who to be.

... and then gets obsessed with the winner of that year's games, who caught Il-nam's eye for reasons In-ho cannot figure out, who no one expected to get very far in the games and yet wound up the winner, who was stubborn and clever and kind and believed in impossible things, who refused to kill his best friend only to watch said best friend die in front of him anyway because he couldn't stop someone he loved from making a choice that killed them.

And what I'm saying here is: In-ho desperately wants a big, strong somebody to love him and guide him and tell him who to be so that he'll be valuable and worthy of their admiration.

While Gi-hun, meanwhile, hears everyone tell him what to do, considers their words, and then does his own thing because he knows who he is and he does what he wants no matter what anyone else says.

YES he loved INHO. Because Youngil is still big part of Inho and not a faked personality.

It is the man he was before he became broken by life and by the cruel system. And Gihun contributed to Inho finding back to his old self in a way, even if just subconsciously. You could tell that it felt natural to him to act around Gihun like the person he was before he lost himself.

Gihun’s love for Inho/Youngil formed out of their genuine bond, he loved him purely.

He felt closer to him than to his best friend he knew for years, because they were always familiar with each other from the start. It’s true soulmatism, I don’t make the rules. interesting thing i just noticed ; i hc that the recruiter reads carl jung books and inho canonically reads lacanian books . so basically inho thinks these games are just the cruel truth of humanity and recruiter sees them as trial of the souls ? necessary . inho thinks humanity is hopeless and wanting to be something it'll never be , and recruiter thinks every player has a potential of rebirth if they can really get their heads in the game . there's something weirdly poetic about inho's detached dismissal of human nature and how recruiter is clinging to it despite the fact that he knows how useless humans are . he sees gihun as trash but he knows he himself is disposable too . he dies knowing gihun will fuck up their game , terrified but knowing it's necessary .
