i'll trash russian novel translations every day, but the russian movie dub, on the other hand, kinda EATS, and here's my favourite bit:

Can someone in the Maleficent (2014 and 2019) fandom tell me if it's worth reading the books based on the movies? I'm craving for more content and I'm curious whether we get to know a few characters on a deeper level in the novels than in the films - esp Diaval! My guy was done dirty in the sequel... wish we could've seen more of him

What if we get a moment where it’s revealed that despite seeing her as a daughter, Diaval is a little unsure about his place in Aurora’s life until one day Aurora refers to him as father either to him or when speaking about him to someone else and he just straight up starts crying.

He turns to Maleficent and just sobs “I’m her father” and Maleficent with the fondest look she can achieve rolls her eyes and just goes “Of course you are”

Aurora of course is extremely concerned and confused as to why her dad just burst into tears.
