update
its been 3 weeks since class has started. ive been going with international people from england, germany, netherlands and new zealand. i have yet to make an american friend who is not a freshmen.
ive joined the ultimate frisbee team. they have training 2 times a week and its pretty fun but tiring at the same time. learning how to throw flicks is very hard.
been eating at dining centres and at local restaraunts. theres a chinese restaraunt and a thai restaurant here.

orientation wrap up + first week
got drunk and broke my phone on the last couple day of orientation. got drunk as usual
first week of study was all admin stuff. workload is quite a lot. 2 of my courses i am exempt from final exams. started going to ulimate frisbee training.
bought a new phone, new cleats and new strap for my fitbit alta.

orientation day 9
went to walmart to buy frozen food and some chips and oreos. then had another event called destination iowa state where we got free stuff and learnt thr cheers and chants. afterwards we hung out with 2 girls and played drinking games until 4/5am. got back to my dorm at 6am and slept for 1.5 hrs coz i had an 8am start. had wendys for lunch and found it to be alright. had a hotdog and some salad for dinner.

played board games, basketball. learnt to play badminton a bit and did bouldering. then had beers and played beer pong. got jeffs pizza afterwards. was a decent night, didnt get too hammered.

orientation day 6
went to a few seminars for new students. had a bbq for dinner-sausages and bread. went out to drink and went to a pub where they had $2 drinks after. fren got the bartebders number.

orientation day 4 and 5
went to des moine on day 4. farmers market from 10-1. got a honeydew bubble tea, a crab rangoon and a spring roll. also had a hotdog and bought a small potplant for my room. went to the jordan creek mall after and had a zombie burger. afterwards we got hurts donut and i got a strawberry cheescake donut. had a couple of beers later that night.
iowa state fair on day 5! its like an american version of the easter show with food stalls and musical performaces as well as farm animals for show. bought a deep fried pecan pie and tried a deep fried orea. very sweet and quite average. the lamb showcase was quite interesting. watched the final round and i could feel the intensity of the competition as the judge slowly walked around the teenage showmans. picture of a farmer sleeping with their pig was cute. got free milk as we went back to campus. managed to deloft my bed with help from my dorm mates and watched the perseid meteor showers. also had little tapei for dinner @inkmindsince

woke up with a shit hangover. got meatball sub at subway. did immigration processing and tidied and set up my room. had pizza for dinner.

orientation day 2
did nothing until 5pm where i met up with orientation group to play outdoor games. we played ultimate frisbee. mite join the ultimate club. bought drinks and got really drunk after.

o-day 1 nothing exciting. orientation was unorganised. some of our orientation group members wandered off on their own leaving our leader fustrated. our orientation leader was also unorganised and could not make firm decisions about what do to around campus and what to see. had poor engangement with our group as well @inkmindsince

arrived at iowa state uni at around 1am. passed through dallas and used their skylink which connects differents of the airport. had a quarter pounder and tuna subway at dallas - very average, similar to australia. went to walmart the next day. bought bedsheets, shampoo, conditioner and a mug. also bought sketched pad and pencils/ mechanical pencil/ pencil. had chicken fila for lunch. smelled like kfc when u walk in, got the spicy deluxe and chicken niggets. burger was average, nuggets were good. whole pieces of chick insted of mince. waffle fries were also nice. got a cow puzzle toy as well. came back and did orientation presentation @inkmindsince

went to lombard st again (went down this time on foot). palace of fine arts was nice. architecturally amazing and spectacular with a beautifully arranged lake around it. went to japantown for dinner and had house ramen. had late night pizza and beers back at the hostel. im staying at usa hostels btw. @inkmindsince

walked to pier 39 and fishermans wharf. lots of historical stuff like alcatraz, and musueums about ww2 ships and arcade museum. had clam chowder at nicks seafood (pier 5) which was vert average. went to ghirredelli square after and had a beach island sundae (chocalate and salted caramel) which was also average. @inkmindsince

walked around union square today then went chinatown. walked into an anime store. some lion dancing and singing was happening as well - very festive. had lunch at san wo. had a bbq pork noodle noodle roll with hot mustard and a house combination fried rice. noodle roll was good, fried rice was average. @inkmindsince

drove through golden gate park and to the golden gate park beach. saw purple daisies and then drove to the golden gate bridge and across it. view was good and this bridge is my fav one so far.
the mist/fog that comes into san fran is callled karl apparently
went up to berkeley afterwards and had pad thai for dinner. walked around berkeley university campus for a bit. ppl call it u-cal coz it was the first califournian university. tower is the camponile.
finally went up to grizzly peaks in oaklands where we saw a view of san fran.
