Normal People: Navigating Love and Mental Struggles

The depiction of Connell and Marianne's depressive cycle can be quite frustrating. However, this series realistically portrays that the psychological burden isn't easily unraveled, even in front of someone very close. Self-worth, which is the central theme of this series, is highlighted through the two characters facing mental issues in different ways. The ups and downs they go through, being entangled in a long-standing struggle to move on, is never truly seen as them having a proper conversation. Despite being so passionate and feeling truly right for each other, their emotions somehow turn into a sense of inadequacy with different definitions. Marianne seeks validation, while Connell, with his fragile ego, acts defensively and can't provide her with that validation.
The series is undeniably slow-paced, even though the plot moves along. Throughout the series, it feels like there's no significant change because, despite different times and locations, the main characters are still dealing with the same problems. It essentially has an open ending, and it's only towards the end that they really start talking. But I'm someone who supports this decision for an open ending because the roots of their individual issues need to be resolved separately. There's no clear conclusion about whether Connell has moved on from his therapist and whether Marianne has broken free from her toxic circle at college. We aren't definitively shown this ending. We're only shown two individuals who seem to know what they should do, yet their journey ahead remains long.
In summary, I absolutely love this series. Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones' acting is insane. The storyline is beautifully written, and even though it's somewhat melancholic, it can take you on a profound emotional journey: you'll cry, get frustrated, smile through all the ups and downs of Connell and Marianne's journey. We're also treated to beautiful, ever-changing settings. The scoring is excellent as well. This is a series that subtly addresses mental health but manages to take our inner journey to a different level.

"Waves" Movie Review

This movie really hit me hard emotionally, and I just have to share that if you're into romance and drama, you absolutely can't miss it. I went in expecting something pretty basic since the trailer didn't really capture the depth of the story. At first, it starts off a bit slow, but as I kept watching, I found myself getting more and more hooked. I've always had a soft spot for films, and when I connect with one, it feels like I'm right there in the middle of it all. The weight of the storyline helped me let go of some sadness | didn't even know | was carrying. It tackles a huge, unexpected tragedy and explores themes of grief, loss, forgiveness, and love. I connected with some of the events and one of the characters, which made the emotions hit even harder. Not only did I relate to it, but the lessons about letting go of hate and embracing love really resonated with me. I can genuinely say this movie changed my perspective, and l highly recommend it, especially for anyone struggling to forgive or looking to fill their hearts with more love.
