As if feyre and tamlin didn’t start off acomaf in a relationship and in love. As if chaol and endryn didn’t start off tower of dawn together. Sarah’s done it before what makes you think she won’t do it again.

I don’t even think they’ll have a relationship. I think they could have a conversation and that would be it. The bonus chapter had enough closure with elain returning the gift and az only thinking about gwyn at the end. Az has already moved on. He was very happy by the end of acosf.

The problem with you guys, and I've noticed it as being a trend, is that you keep on drawing false equivalencies. The tendency to compare apples and parrots to 'strengthen' your ship actually does nothing to do that.

Because you are comparing characters and couples that literally have NOTHING to do with each other. At all. They are so far removed, I don't even understand how this comes up.

What does Chaol have to do with Azriel? Even in the broadest capacity? Absolutely nothing. Comparing Elain Archeron and Nesryn is actually insane. Like what does Elain and Azriel have to do with Nesryn and Chaol? Nesryn is a tertiary character. Elain is a FMC of a book. Absolutely nothing in Nesryn is even remotely similar to Elain's life or storyline. Same with Chaol. Chaol is a human, serving Dorian, sleeping with Aelin at some point, then breaking up with her, then becoming a partisan, then getting paralyzed, then being sent to another place to try and heal, with his FWB Nesryn accompanying him.

Like in what world is this similar to Azriel or Elriel?

Same with Tamlin and Feyre. How are they comparable to Elriel?

In addition, both of these couples have had their relationships. Tamlin and Feyre had a whole book dedicated to them, and catastrophic things happened to them and with them.

Elain and Azriel haven't even kissed!

It's just so crazy to take totally random couples and bring them up as examples. I mean, why not any other couple? Baxian and Danika? Asterin and her Hunter? Evalin and Rhoe? Dorian and Manon? You can take anyone and then randomly say, oh, but look! But it doesn't actually make any sense.

Honestly, if you are going to be truthful about comparisons, then at least compare Elorcan and Elriel, which are truly much more similar as couples, than freaking Chaol and Nesryn!

Also, what made you think that Azriel was 'happy' and content at the end of ACOSF??? Also, 'very' happy? Really?

PS If you are going to do comparisons, then tell me in what other bonus for Books A Million has SJM ended a relationship for two MAIN characters? It's okay. I'll wait.

I saw an interesting book tok video where the creator talked about how she was frustrated with authors writing in a way that treats readers like they’re stupid (over explaining and over emphasizing). By not allowing room for inference it can feel like stories are being dumbed down.

And while I really resonate with her experience, if the ACOTAR fandom has shown us anything, it is that readers today do not possess the literacy skills to make educated inferences.

Azriel’s bonus chapter starts with a romantic interaction with Elain, followed by Azriel literally addressing the 3 brothers 3 sisters motif that fans speculated on FOR YEARS! And a portion of this fandom warped that into “just lust” and “entitlement”. They hyper fixated on “the third” and ignored the conclusion the author was trying to lead them to! SJM basically screamed a pattern is being subverted, pay attention, and they read that as Azriel just wants a mate. How do you run face first into the point and still miss it?!Then if anyone counters their deeply flawed logic they hide behind interpretation, theories and opinions.

Bryce and Hunt are canon confirmed mates, in love but nope she is actually mates with Azriel and will end up with him. Nesta and Cassian are in love, confirmed mates but she will for sure leave Cassian or he will die so she can end up with Eris.

SJM is literally spelling out in bold letters the upcoming plot points and romantic pairings, but some people still don’t get it. They don’t want to get it so they just pretend that the situation is debatable when it is not. Honestly SJM needs to treat this fandom like they are even dumber, because that is how they act. Unless it is stated as fact (and sometimes not even then) it is up for interpretation or debate.

So I fear stupid writing is here to stay as readers intent on “interpreting” books to their taste make it impossible for writers to use any literary technique outside of blatant explanation. Look at Rebecca Yarros, she literally had to use her press tour to control the fandom narrative on certain situations and characters. These mass consumption readers were starting to place conspiracy theories over the plot she wrote!

Readers no longer care about stories. They read for consumption and want fanfic style books that are written like soap operas. Plot be damned, foreshadowing irrelevant, just make my favorite character infallible and fuck over anyone who opposes her.

Considering this, I fear we are all in for a bumpy ride as this series progresses. Strap in folks, it only gets weirder (and dumber) from here.
