Hufflepuff: Bees buzzing past the window on a hot afternoon, a record buzzing quietly in a sunny room, humming under your breath, hugging friends in corridors, the feeling of a plane landing in your home country, taking polaroids of random things, walking through the woods alone in autumn and feeling the silence, leaving footprints on wet sand, sunsets over the ocean, fireflies in the woods at night, clear blue skies after a long winter

Gryffindor: Doing crazy things on dares, hangovers and regrets after a drunken night out, screaming the lyrics to songs until your throat hurts, heat shimmering over a campfire in the woods, burning your tongue with hot chocolate, smoking a cigarette for the first time, inside jokes, laughing until your sides ache, lying on the grass at night and naming the stars, bantering insults, warming your hands after playing in cold snow, tapping someone’s shoulder and running away, looking back at old videos of good times with best friends

Ravenclaw: Going for walks in the early morning before the sun rises, frost on holly bushes, exhaling steam in the cold air, watching the rain make ripples in ponds, wet grass, silence in between the bookshelves, forgotten secrets, going to the library and losing track of time, dust motes floating in a sunny room, making swirls in milky coffee, tired eyes, standing under old fashioned street lamps at night, driving through mist on a forest road and nothing feels real

Slytherin: Empty sunlit halls, whispers behind hands, dark, marble floors, matte lipstick, piercing stares, seeing beauty in the gloom, manicured hands, dancing, branches stark against the sky, robins singing on branches dripping melting snow, sleek high buns, the burn of champagne, a dark forest at night, sneaking out late to see your friends, the shared weight of a heavy secret, looking down off a cliff, the feeling of nicotine in your veins, writing in black ink with a feather quill, mirrored lakes, the feeling of calm before a storm, echoes of last night in an empty ballroom

being home for summer hols is wonderful. it’s also extremely boring.

you see, i’m a muggleborn, and this world is just so painfully mundane compared to hogwarts. do i spend most of my time curled up with a book in the common room or playing wizard chess with the gryffindors i know i’ll beat? sure. but being back in the non-magical world never ceases to be a shock at first.

* being able to sit in the common room, because everyone will respect your privacy * staying inside during quidditch games and enjoying the time in the empty dorms * sitting in a corner of the common room and reading while sipping tea * coming across as a lot calmer and maybe even nicer as some extroverted slytherins, but actually killing people that annoy you in your mind at least seven times * finding great friends in slytherin anyways, because no one here values loudness too much and will respect your wish to be alone * library = second dorm room * having a hard time around christmas and other holidays, and crawling into bed to escape from all the people * having a special place all to yourself* sometimes seeming bitchy, but really you just want to be left in peace * having a wonderful time at hogwarts anyways, because everyone loves it there
