OnePlus was founded by pete lau and carl pie on 16 December 2013 to develop a high-end flagship smartphone running caynagon mod that would come to be known as the one plus one. OnePlus would continue to release phones throughout the 2010s and 2020s. In 2020, OnePlus released the one plus nord. its first mid-range smartphone since theone plus x in 2015. Pei would oversee the design and marketing of OnePlus' products until his departure from the company in October 2020, going on to found the technology company Nothing

The oneplus3 was unveiled on 14 June 2016 as a successor to OnePlus 2 in the main series. This was the first OnePlus device to be not part of the invite system.[15] The 3 was the company's first "metal unibody" phone and launched with a qualqom snapdragon 6 GB of RAm  and 64 GB of ufc 2.0 storage. The phone was well regarded amongst critics, mostly for its low price and high specifications
