i'm going to regret doing this, but it seems like no matter what choice i make, it's the wrong one, so fuck it. i want everyone to know that i'm being harassed, and i've been being harassed for a year or maybe longer, i don't know. i kept getting these sick anons on here until i finally wised up and turned anon off. then this lunatic made an account JUST to send me a dm before immediately deleting said account, so i turned off dms. now they're coming after my ao3, and i've been told by ao3 staff that i can't do anything about it except lock my account or moderate comments or turn off guest comments. i don't want to do any of those because obviously no one in their right minds wants to be associated with the kind of fics i write, so it's better for me to have anon comments turned on, but this is just. getting to be too much. and i know this fuckass creep is going to see this post at some point and send me another shitty comment laughing about it and taunting me.
i've ignored this person for a year and i've deleted everything they send without responding and they just won't back the fuck off, and now they've gotten me into this little corner and i'm just at my wits' fucking end with this. i've never dealt with this level of harassment and i've been in fandom spaces for 18 years. i know that making this post is a stupid idea but i want everyone to know that this is going on. if i do end up having to moderate my ao3 comments in whatever degree, this is my heads' up that it might happen. for now i just want to delete the comments when they come, but they shake me up pretty badly and at some point i'm going to get sick of seeing them in my safest space. so idk. either this loser gets tired of being a shit to me, or i get tired of being shit on. one or the other is going to happen first.

jsyk if you see me liking your posts without reblogging it’s bc i know. as soon as i reblog one thing concerning The Case, i’ll get noticed by the fucking staff. it’s rly nothing personal and i wish i could reblog all the gifsets ive liked over the past eight months. just know there’s some beautiful alternate universe where it’s still 2017 and ive reblogged everything and am not in trouble for it bc this is still a site that recognizes nuance and also allows for adults to make adult decisions

reblogging this for the edification of some people who i had a fight with a few days ago about this exact topic. won't @ y'all bc i'm not that petty but fuck do i wish i was.
kind of wild for this dude (the interviewee) to say it's not enjoyable to make music NOW. like, what? lmao. it's the same level of difficult as it's always been to actually create music. and we've been creating music since the dawn of humanity. it's comparatively much easier to put music out there for others to listen to compared to even within my parents' time. or at least, i assume it is; i really don't know shit about the music industry. and clearly this interviewee doesn't either, but at least i don't have the level of stupidity as him to make bold claims on a live program where i can be recorded and then responded to by millions of people. (i just make bold claims in the text section of a tumblr post which could be seen by millions. shh.)
the point of creating art is not about it being "enjoyable" (although sometimes it is legitimately fun to do creative things). but even when it's not, most of the time, and you feel like your brain is being squeezed dry and you have ideas ramming against some wall with no way to get them out and you just want to scream and you go do anything else other than (insert art medium here). it's still creating. humans are always creating and that's the point of us. we have to invent and be and grow and learn and if we stop doing those things, we will stagnate and die out. literally why do you want to have something generate a piece of art FOR you by stealing from others' ideas, rather than take a few hours of your day to sit with something and let it develop in your brain and then put it on paper. when i say i've written a fic, i mean i've literally put my fingers on a keyboard, or held a pen, or touched a phone screen, and written down each word letter by letter until the sentence was complete. rinse, repeat. when you generate a fic through ai, you type a prompt into a machine which then feeds you back a response based on, guess what, the work i already spent hours/days/weeks/months/years sitting there and thinking about. and it's the same with music, or painting, or any other form of art. you aren't learning from it. you aren't using your actual brain to think about whatever it is you want. ignorance is a very dangerous weapon. that's all.
John Oliver gets it, as usual. AI Slop is one of the best episodes of Last Week Tonight I've seen so far. Gen AI is theft. Those who use it are not authors or artists, they're grifters profiting from real creatives.

i’ve got a good example of reddit’s hypocritical bullshit right here; i know it’s prob a mistake to share this but fuck it, i want ppl to see how bizarre this is. about a month ago there was a post asking what you would say to e&d if you could ask them one question and i said i’d ask them about their specific interests ie video games. someone else said they’d prob appreciate being listened to, so i said:

and as you see, it got upvoted. but then yesterday, i admit that yes, im a fangirl and i write fanfiction of them and suddenly thats not okay? like are you fucking kidding me? it’s like
me: i relate to and sympathize with and love e&d and want to treat them like humans and show interest in them
ppl: 🥺👉👈❤️
me: also i love e&d and want to show interest in them and treat them like people
ppl: D:<
tagging yall bc i know it’s a topic of interest to you but will untag if you want, nw: @klebt0freak @11thdepressioner @ugly-bullet (this is saltmouths’ side account)

i like how people on certain reddits act all holier than thou about certain subgroups as if we’re not all here talking about the same case and the same people. like bestie you are not better than me bc i write fanfiction and you don’t. nor does my writing of said fanfiction make my opinions and viewpoints irrelevant. y’all were creaming yourselves over shit i said before i revealed i write fic of the boys. let’s not pretend i’m wrong now so we can feel morally superior

also, like... why are you depriving yourself of the ability and joy of creating things and thinking for yourself? why do you want to plug a prompt into a machine rather than sit down and take the time to think and plan and create all by yourself? what do you benefit from allowing the computer to generate a thing for you?
I think it goes without saying that the TCC should remain as free from AI usage as possible. The beauty of this community comes from the fact that everything we create here is made by us - without the help of any generative software or algorithms. I will always publicly stay out of any TCC drama, but I do not stand for the use of AI, and I won't hesitate to call out anyone I see using it.
We, as a community full of artists, writers, and editors, should be supporting each other. Not only that, we should be actively refusing to turn to AI to help with bettering our content, regardless of how easy it may be to ask the algorithm to churn out some slop. Don't allow the machines to destroy your creativity and make you lazy. To create art is to be human, but so is to make mistakes. Don't let the lure of perfect computer-made content drive you away from creating something that might not be good. Break the rules of making art or writing simply because AI algorithms can't.
#yep#there is no excuse to use gen ai for anything#i don't care what your reasoning is. it's wrong#too lazy to write a paper? tfb write the fucking paper. as we all had to do since the dawn of time.#can't think of any ideas? go talk with your friends.#can't draw? either doodle terribly anyway or just don't bother trying.#if you use a machine to generate an idea/concept/whatever for you it is not yours#it is the machine generating something based on input from millions of artworks created by REAL PEOPLE#you are stealing MY ideas and i have zero respect for you#fuck anyone who uses gen ai for any reason whatsoever

oh wow! final results are In and i rly did not expect baseball to win esp w such a sweeping vote. i def get it tho. i’m still in the process of figuring out the full plot of this au, so it’ll be a while until it becomes a Thing, and i cant 100% promise ill use baseball for his sport; but it’s also nice to know what the majority wants in case i cant make a final decision on my own (since im super fucking torn btwn baseball and basketball myself)
thank you to everyone who voted ☺️ i’m giving you all a gentle pat on the head
seeing that hockey art from @effigyofxeno decided it for me (hope it’s okay i tagged you, lmao). i’m making this poll
*the white hat au is a planned upcoming au where dylan is a white hat at clb and eric works in the theater w mrs. c.
**ik he was way too lanky to play football but i wanted to provide it as an option anyway. i think in an au like this he would’ve put on more muscle, although idk if that still would’ve made it possible for him to play the sport just due to his build, but w/e
