WMSU-SHS STORIES: WHY IS THERE A NEED TO STUDY MEDIA INFORMATION LITERACY?

We live in a world of technology now, where all is in automatic mode. Easy access to something, people tend to forget how to value ethics. But why is there a need for us to study MIL? Is it because people nowadays are "TOXIC" when in comes to media?

But first things first, what is MIL?

Media Information Literacy or MIL enables each individual to be informed and be skillful as a user of media. The purpose of it is to engage in a digital society; one needs to be able to understand, inquire, create, communicate and think critically. It is important to effectively access, organize, analyze, evaluate, and create messages in a variety of forms.

As a user of media, we must able to interpret and be a responsible user of the digital tools we have today because most of the teenagers nowadays does not value or does not possessed ethics when in comes to media.

We must able to understand MIL because it will improve our knowledge about our rights to be informed as a media user. We must able to inquire, look into, or to investigate. It will help us to come up with a right judgement since we are not just giving right away our decisions. We must also create, create friends, create apps, create everything we want to create as long as we know our limits. We must also able to communicate, media was created so that we can still have access with our loved ones who are far away from us. We can communicate to them right away in just a click, that’s how automatic we are today. And lastly we must able to think critically, practicing our critical thinking skills can really means a lot because we are analyzing and evaluating and it helps our mind to be more active than usual.

Media Information Literacy provide the answers to all our questions and becoming media and information literate, people will test our persistence on how we deal with information. It includes a certain stage of appreciation towards those who want and request for it. Respect for information skills enable everyone to express their ideas and opinions without any judgement. MIL teaches us to use information and media content in an ethical, efficient and effective manner.

WMSU SHS-STORIES: THE REASONS WHY THEY INSPIRED ME

I have so much reasons to tell you why I keep on fighting in this battle ground of life. Maybe some would tell that it is just too early for me to experience what life really is. Yes it can be, but age won't determine our experiences.

Do you know that I have a protector? Do you know that someone saved me from death? Do you know that someone really love me eventhough I keep pulling him away?

Because of Him, I am inspired everyday. Because of Him, I can survived the day.

Because of Him, I lack nothing.

Because of Him, I am restored.

We talk everyday, it's like we are best buddy. I am telling Him all my ups and downs in life, though I knew that He knew it before I tell Him but still that's how we communicate.

He is the reason, why I changed my life. His words are powerful than any other words. If He loves me then, He loves you even more.

And ofcourse, all His words are my weapon and that also leads me to my second inspiration, MY FAMILY.

Whatever I do, I do it for the Lord. I love my family as much as I love the Lord. Because of them, I am able to live my life, I am able to go to school, I am able to buy whatever stuff I want. I am grateful that the Lord has given me a complete family and that He always gives us blessings.

I want to return all the hardworks that my parents did for us. That's why I will not fail them and I will become a professional one day so that I could let my parents stop working for me, us and we their children will work for them soon.

Lastly, my friends and churchmates also inspired me. Because of them I have learned a lot of lessons because of their testimonies in life and the bond we have shared together. I am also grateful that they've become part of my life.

WMSU-SHS STORIES: BUWAN NG PAGBABALIK-TANAW

Pilit na pinapaintindi, ngunit ang iba'y sadyang ayaw makinig

Pilit na ibinabalik, mga alaala'y nagpabago

Nagpabago sa ating kasaysayan

Na kung saan natatamasa natin

Sa kasalukuyan.

Pilipino, kilala bilang isang matatag na tao

Ngunit sa likod nito ay may pinanghahawakang simbolo

Simbolo ng ating bansa

Simbolo ng ating paglaya

At simbolo ng ating sariling wika.

Ang Wikang Filipino ay napasakamay

Dahil sa mga bayaning ibinigay ang kanilang buhay

Di nagpatinag sa mga banyagang sumalakay

At nakamit ang inaasam na tagumpay.

Agosto, buwan na kung saan ipinagdidiriwang ng mga Pilipino ang wikang nakamtan

Ang wikang nagpabago

At ang wikang nagpaisa sa ating mga katutubo.

Inaabangan taon-taon ang tema,

Pinaguusapan sa ibat-ibang panig ng bansa,

Mula sa Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino hanggang sa Jolo

Patok palagi sa masang Pilipino.

Filipino: Wika ng Saliksik

Ito ang tema para sa taong 2018

Upang magpalaganap ng karunugan at kaunlaran

Lalo na sa Agham at Matematika.

Iba't ibang paligsahan ang nagaganap

Bawat estudyante, guro, maging ang mga nasa gobyerno't mamamayan

Sila ay nakikilahok buwan-buwan

Upang maipakita ang kanilang pagpapahalaga sa sariling wika.

Ngunit hindi lamang tuwing Agosto natin isasabuhay ang ating wika

Dapat araw-araw natin ito'y pahalagahan

At huwag hayaang mawala't mamatay

Ang Wikang Filipino ng isang tanyag na bansa

Na ang bansang Pilipinas.

Ang Agosto ay hindi lamang simpleng selebrasyon ng ating wika

Ito rin ang nagpapatunay na kahit magbago man ang panahon at paraan

Ito'y patuloy nating bibigyang buhay

Sapagkat ito'y simbolo ng ating pagkakaisa't bilang isang bansang malaya.

WMSU-SHS Stories: A Life Poem of A CSM Student

Waking up early in the morning

Thanking God for a new beginning

Hoping this day would end up nicely

And not too heavy.

But she is a STEM student taking 9 subjects per week,

Including 2 majors such as Bio and Physics

Oh! mind you it is just the 1st semester of the school year.

She's spending almost 12 hours of her time

Listening, sitting, writing, reciting, reporting and a cycle starts.

A life where a student like her needs to deal with

To not give up and continue fighting.

Majoring in Science and Math

Is a tough choice she chose so far

Thinking it would be like junior high

Where eveything seems so fine.

Doubt, discouragement and all the negative things builds inside of her

Homeworks, performance tasks, quiz, recitation, academic write ups to be pass tomorrow,

Plus all the pressure surrounding her,

Isn't it too much to handle dear?

But this will not be a hindrance for her to stop, to stop all she have been through from the start

All the hardworks will soon be pay off

And fathom her purpose.

It's a priviledge to be under CSM

Great teachers, and experiences

Although it's not just a piece of cake

But she knows that her knowledge has expand

Because of all the things she have learned since day one.

This is a decision that she decides way back junior high

A decision wherein it will determine her future and life

That she needs to endure this till the end of march

Until she can finally say "Yes! I've survive senior high"
