We’ll have you over at our place sometime soon. I think hot pot sounds like a good idea with the winter starting to set in, and Zichen can show A-Xun how to make those buns so well, if he’s still keen to learn!

@wifiwuxians​ I found your invitation stuck to the front door with a knife, which definitely had blood on it? You could have just knocked. 

We’ll be there, but please don’t make my husband and I hold you accountable on criminal charges during this dinner party with your family. It really wouldn’t be a fun time for anyone.

Sneaking in at the very very end of @songlanfortnight​ with a late submission for Theme #6 (fighting, weapons) -- Fuxue! I’ve been thinking about making this sword for a good several months, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to actually do it.

Some creator's notes and info on construction under the cut:

Fuxue is a really cool sword. I love her. Even though I don't have any plans to cosplay Song Lan at the moment, it’s just a prop I’d like to have for the sake of having? Fuxue was a sword that seemed kind of unassuming to me at first, but which grew on me a LOT as time went on (a bit like Song Lan himself <3). Despite the frankly embarrassing number of hours that went into this in the last two weeks, and the stress of the self-imposed event time crunch, that appreciation’s only grown with this project, thankfully. 

Some frustrations along the way and definite flaws that came through even at the end (and the scabbard’s still stuck in its goth phase for the moment), but I’m pleased with a lot of this! 

Materials: aluminum rod, EVA foam, craft foam, Crayola Model Magic, literal rubbish saved before hitting the recycling bin; contact cement, hot glue, super glue; Mod Podge, spray paint, acrylic paint

Tools:  rotary tool, soldering iron, heat gun

Huge thanks to the organizers of Song Lan Fortnight for making this event happen! It’s been great to see all these posts and to have the motivation to kick this project into motion.
