I was seeing this ad for some new therapy/counseling website a few weeks ago and it’s where they ask a few questions regarding what you’re looking to get help with specifically and then they match you up with a qualified actual therapist. The part that I really loved was that instead of having to set a weekly appointment to go see a therapist, you can TEXT your therapist about any and all problems you’re dealing with daily on a weekly basis. They even have certain plans between texting, calling, and video chatting or all of them combined. Like y’all, this is honestly what I’ve wanted to be able to do. I have so many thoughts and worries and concerns that really just put me in a bit of a rut. But I usually forget about them or push them to the back of my mind by the time I go and see my therapist every few weeks. I can’t keep a journal or diary because I know it will get read (has happened in the past before) and I honestly have trouble bringing up issues I’m having and get discouraged to talk about it to my therapist so over time everything just basically builds up. But being able to text a counselor makes it so much easier for me to open up about issues. Physically talking about my problems has always been an issue especially when it’s face to face. The fact that I could tell my therapist what I’m thinking about that has me concerned and then getting feedback that same day sounds so nice. A BITCH WAS READY TO HOP ON IT! And then I looked at their weekly service costs......way out of my budget. It’s completely understandable and if I had the money every month I’D FLIPPIN HOP ON IT.

things i wish people talked about wrt low empathy: being so apathetic that you have no motivation to get up or even consider the future, perpetual boredom, not feeling the need to connect with anyone, being extremely uncomfortable when people are nice to you or understand you too well, doing things that are irresponsible and impulsive just to not be bored if only for a second
things people do talk about wrt low empathy: how we’re all “emotionally unintelligent” to-be murderers or whatever

List of go-to phrases when people are going through a tough or shitty time.
Do you want to talk about it?
It’s not boring, I want to hear.
What’s that like for you?
How are you doing, now?
This must be hard, but you’re doing great.
I trust you to do the right thing.
I’ve seen you get through hard things before. Hard as this feels now, I know you can get through this.
Yes, knowing this does change how I feel about you. I see you as even more beautiful and courageous.
I respect you.
I love you.

Just Depression™ Things
- not showering for days - not leaving the house - “sorry I’m busy” - sleeping all day - too depressed to change bedsheets - eating nothing or overeating - greasy af hair - lots of crying - or just feeling numb - unintentionally skipping days of meds - clothes everywhere - plates of old food all over room - week old bottle of water on bedside cabinet - do the curtains even open anymore?

For everyone’s information:
The plan for the 17th, when the adult content ban comes in, is to protest.
To do that, we are making as much noise either side of the 17th as possible, and using the site as normal.
On the 17th, dead silence.
People are saying log off but what they really mean is don’t open the site or the app.
But, on the 17th make as much noise as possible on every other platform. Tweet about it and post on facebook and instagram and everywhere else.
What this does is causes a massive dip in ad revenue for one single day. That does not make staff think ‘oh everyone’s gone let’s shut down.’ What it actually makes them think is ‘oh shit people aren’t happy and if people don’t keep using our site we’re out of money and out of jobs.’
A boycott reminds a company that the users (consumers) have the power to make their site (business) worthless with one single coordinated decision.
If you want to join in, here’s what to do:
Do:
Close all open instances of the app and site on all your devices before the 17th
Make posts before and after the 17th on tumblr and other platforms, talking about why this ban is bad
Make posts on other sites during the 17th. Flood the official tumblr staff twitter and facebook with your anger and your opinion
Come back on the 18th and check in
Don’t:
Delete the app from your phone (this doesn’t affect their revenue and since it’s off the store at the moment it’ll be hard to get back)
Delete your account. I mean you can if you want to, but if you keep your account and don’t use it you’re saying to staff that there’s still time to save it. If you delete it’s hard work to come back.
Open the app or website (including specific blogs)
Make any posts (turn down/off your queue and make sure nothing is scheduled)
Go quiet elsewhere. Make it clear that this is just about tumblr, not a mass move away from all social media.
Remember: the execs don’t care about anything but money. Shutting down the site means there’s $0 further income from it. That’s their last possible course of action. If we make it clear we’re not happy, they’ll have to do something or we can do more and more until it becomes too expensive.
Protests take commitment. They’re a defiant action against a business that is doing something wrong. They will try to scare you into not participating, because they’re scared. We hold all the power here, sometimes the execs just need to be reminded of that.

The internet could change next week, and not in a good way
You may have heard about the efforts in Europe to reform copyright law. The debate has been ongoing in the European Parliament for months. If approved next week, these new regulations would require us to automatically filter and block content that you upload without meaningful consideration of your right to free expression.
We respect the copyrights and trademarks of others, and we take all reports seriously to ensure that your creative expression is protected. We make this clear in our Community Guidelines. There’s already a legal framework that works and is fair: Today we take down posts and media that contain allegedly infringing content when we receive a valid DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) takedown request. We also provide clear-cut ways for people to fight back if they believe their removed content was not a true violation. These instances are monitored and reported and live in our biannual transparency report.
The suggestion to use automated filters for issues of copyright is short-sighted at best and harmful at worst. Automated filters are unable to determine whether a use should be considered “fair use” under the law and are unable to determine whether a use is authorized by a license agreement. They are unable to distinguish legitimate parody, satire, or even your own personal pictures that could be matched with similar photographs that have been protected by someone else. We don’t believe that technology should replace human judgment. Tumblr is and always has been a place for creative expression, and these new regulations would only make it harder for you to express yourself with the freedom and clarity you do so now.
If you access Tumblr from Europe and want to act, you can find more information on saveyourinternet.eu.
